Some things I've noticed while trying this achievement: Making a faction with Italy will force Yugoslavia to place a few troops to their common border, even if they are not at war (and you shouldn't call them for any reason). Another "trick" to make the frontline easier is to make a naval invasion to Podgorica with 4 or 5 troops and maybe take one more territory. The terrain is mountainous so as long as you don't lose the port your troops will have no trouble defending. This way the frontline on Makedonia will have fewer troops and Yugoslavia will waste manpower trying to take back Podgorica. Eventually, since you'll be fascist with better recruitment ratio and war economy, you'll swipe through the country.
My strategy is to set forts on the Yugoslav border and hold to waste their manpower and then naval invade with cav and mountaineers and encircle most of the Yugoslav army and kill them off and then just walk through the country and annex it. Out of the 10 or so times I've done it, it's worked at least 60%-70% of the time. Then disband cavalry and get tanks and motorized infantry and use field hospitals and rush medium tanks for Turkey. Tanks push to Istanbul and infantry pushes from the islands to encircle anyone unlucky enough to be defending Istanbul. And if your navy is just subs convoy raiding you can finish the war before your navy is killed off
Since military xp is earned when equipment is used in battle, sending your stuff to another country for them to use it gives you military xp, the other way is sending an Attache, the attache is the better option if the two (and why most people send one to China or Japan), but attaches cost pp to send,
Question about that: Do you get xp when lend leasing to other nations of the same ideology? Or do they have to be allies? When I attempted sending guns to nationalist Spain, I wasn't seeing any increase in army xp, but maybe I sent too few.
@@PravusGaming From my experience playing, you do get exp even when lend leasing to non allies or different ideologies, however it takes a month for the first shipment of equipment to arrive and you don't get exp until your equipment is used in combat, which is why you didn't see any change initially. You can see when equipment will be delivered by going to the recruitment tab.
@@PravusGaming yeah from my time playing it won't even come up saying you are generating xp like from the military exercises. You will just notice your xp increasing more than it should. Great way to xp is by lend leasing China with guns as they have a large army and need the guns to equip them, it creates a lot of xp for you.
Pravus Gaming ya, you need to send amounts the actually matter, it takes maybe 9kish? Guns to fill a 7/2, now Spain’s civil war divs are 8w peasants, so maybe more like 2-3k guns per division, then you need to wait until they actually USE the stuff you sent them, but ya, it doesn’t matter WHO you send it to, so long as they get, and use, it, this is why Attaches are better, they simply give you 20% of ANY experience the destination country earns, be it army, navy, or air xp Edit:after some testing I found that it takes 900 guns and 34 Artillery to fill a 7/2 without support, not the 9kish I had originally said, I was most likely still running off of my numbers from a recent PRC run and was factoring the logistics for 40w peasants I think
Pravus Gaming if you really need XP in large amounts for speeding doctrines, when China happens, send Japan an attache, since your both fascist they’ll always accept it, that’ll give you xp you need for any templets or doctrine research you may need,
I'm really glad that Pravus decided to try the Byzantine achievement. (Though it might be my personal greed, I want to see him do all the decisions on the Byzantine list. XD )

War with Turkey first then Bulgaria is (IMO) the way to go, guarantee Yugoslavia and ally Germany, if everything goes as planned Italy attacks Yugoslavia and boom defensive call Axis vs Italy. Or at least it's what worked for me.
Funny story. I once introduced this game to an S.Korean friend. He asked; So, where's Korea? I want to play as Korea. and I told him that this game was set in 1936. during the Japanese occupation of Korea. So there was no Korea in the game and there would not be a Korea in the game. Only Japan. Needless to say, he did NOT play as the Japanese Empire.

The lend-lease for xp only work when the receiver start using the equipment. you only give them like 4 days. they probably havent even received the equipment yet, so ofc you wouldn't get exp
Two things about the lend lease and why you did not see any experience gain in your situation. First of all, it takes time to send your lend-leased equipment to the beneficiary of your generosity. This works on a monthly basis and thus your first shipment of equipment won't arrive until a month after you've executed the diplomatic action. You can see the progress of that in the equipment screen where a new lend lease section will appear close to the top. Also, you actually need to have the equipment in stock. If you have a deficit, you'll only end up sending a fraction of what you promised unless you manually prioritise lend lease. The other important aspect is that, as others have already mentioned, you only gain XP if your equipment is being used by the recipient and presumably you get some percentage of their XP gain, depending on the percentage of your equipment vs other equipment they are using at the same time. Consequently, you want to send a whole big pile of up-to-date equipment, to make sure that as many of their divisions as possible use at least some of it. That's why Feedback and others send a big load of stockpiled equipment only once and then a tiny trickle of some other equipment on a monthly basis because the XP gain only works while you have the lend lease active.
30:07 it does. its not instant. you have to wait for the equipment to be successfully shipped and delivered, and then in use before you see you XP go up. i always send at least 2000 guns once and 1 of something else per month (because of an old bug) and always send air volunteers to gain air XP
for a grand strategy game its not to byzantine (eh) in terms of learning curve its fairly intuative i learnt by cheating and the gradually playing without cheats!, though fair warning while not as hard euiv restoration of the empire you are basicly sourended by enemies or soon to be enemies
I'm sure someone's already filled you in on how lend lease works, but in case they didn't here's the info. When you send a continued lend lease to a nation, you will gain a certain amount of experience if the equipment you send is used in battle. I don't know what the % of exp gained is, but the more sent, the more you get. The 20 guns per month wouldn't really net you any exp though. A trick however is you can select to send only what you want to send by selecting "once" instead of monthly, then select another weapon or item and send one per month. The item being sent every month will allow you to gain the exp for the big lump sum delivery you make. As an example, you send 10,000 guns by selecting "once" and 1 support equipment per month.
Lend lease giving you a shitton of XP men, first you send of around a 1000 to get them in the hand of the spanish dudes then around 10 a month to not run out completely .. they start to generate XP when they arrive (hence they cost convoys to send and have a certain deploy time which you did not wait for in the video) and allows you to use 100 XP bonuses in the research tree way before the vanilla WW2 brokes out
@Pravus Gaming, as a small tip for early game I saw you start off buy producing Subs, while OP, they get TERRIBLE debuffs in shallow waters, such as most of the med! Terrain map will show you what type of water tiles are in the world!! :Thumbs up:
The reason that people lend-lease to Nationalist Spain is because you get experience. You wont start getting experience until the shipment is delivered, and the weapons are in use. You can do the same thing with airplanes so that you can get air experience. Another thing that I wanted to say is that when you are trying to change your Ideology it is almost always worth it to discredit the government when your Ideology is at 40% so you can instantly switch to the ideology you want. then you could get war economy faster which has a positive overall effect on your entire play-through.
lend lease works for XP, i think after delivery, for faster send an attachee. Also it works a lot faster with 1k guns. we didnt have enough to make it meaningful, but like 10% of output a month would be nice
You get experience off of lend-leasing equipment slowly but surely. It won't show up after a day but after some time. I think it also has something to do with needing at least 1 piece of your equipment with a unit.
To get more army xp you need to send a attache to the country that's fighting Ex... China vs Japan. The button for it is between improve relations Non-Aggression pact
It is not pointless if you have a surplus of equipment it is definitely a good idea to lend lease equipment and it does give you xp weather or not they are an ally.

In my attempts on forming the Byzantine empire I find it nice to invade Yugoslavia by naval invading around Albania and threatening to encircle (and encircling) many troops to then swiftly take them over. Then I build lvl 2 forts around rivers and only keep the Serbian part of Yugoslavia and letting the Italians bash themselves on me. Tbf they did pact of Rome with Hungary and Austria but either way I held them off and killed 7 some million with only 600 thousand some losses. The I take Italy and core them to gain 40 some million men.
