She could have just thanked him for his taco opinion and reiterated her desire for a burrito. There's no guarantee that he would stop trying to invalidate her request. Keep in mind that he did ask her what she wanted and then attempted to change her mind about what she should want. That is controlling and invalidating. Anyone who has studied narcissistic abuse will recognize the significance of the mask.
