Wonderfully beautiful juxtaposition of the wounded soldier and the self-portrait akin to those ancient Egyptian fragmented heads...yet what is missing is still there as a positive negative force...

@@TheEstateofFrancisBacon It’s always intriguing (and surprising) to see the direct translation of photographic source material into Bacon’s painting. Especially when the corrupted form of the photographic print itself informs the composition - a ‘pulverising machine’ for imagery indeed. Thank you for this video, I shall have to find a copy of Katharina Günther’s book
