    Electric and petrol engine make it a nice cruiser. Reaaly liked this car, and if you look besides the slow CTV gearbox and engine sound, the EV mode is awsome, and it becomes a great city daily driver.

    Had an IS250, upgraded to this and absolutely love it.
    Went for the 300h vs 200t as I really don't need to race anyone from the lights anymore. But I do use the sport mode if required and it works.
    Luxury drive and get around 1100km to the tank. Awesome car. Has everything and more (well my one does anyway).
    I have a great mechanic and a Panel Beater that lives next door. Both of them rate these cars above and beyond their German competitors.
    I'm not them, and am no expert. I'm just lucky enough to be able to drive one of these daily and love it. I'm just passing on their words.

    • @skoenster
      @skoenster 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I do not worry about the batteries at all. Toyota has been making hybrids for 20 years - apprx 8 mio cars and the Nimh batteries have proven to be extremely durable. The battery is designed to last for the life of the car. I have seen examples of Prius with over 1 mio km's on the clock, still with original battery, and the car was about 10 years old. There are thousands of Prius and Camry hybrid taxis on the road across the globe, and drivers choose these cars because of the outstanding reliability and low operating costs, so don't worry about the battery :-)

      Do you mind making a video of your own showing the boot and the consumption, i.e. how the HSD behaves in the city? I have 520xd now which I will change because I'm sick and tired of the diesel noise and vibrations, and have started looking at hybrids.

    We don't get this particular IS in North America, what is the drivetrain? I'm assuming it's either the 2.5l V6 or 2.5l inline 4 cyl paired with a CVT? Either way it's not going to be a fast car, but should be better than either engine alone, I'm sure the electric motor helps acceleration somewhat even if the main goal is fuel efficiency. We get the GS 450H which paired the 306 hp 3.5l V6 with hybrid assist, but that only seems like the best of both worlds. The CVT is a deal breaker for me unfortunately. Even those who auto journalists call a "good CVT" still behave strangely to me..and simulated stepped "gears" don't really help matters much since the "shifts" are vague and slurred vs the crisp shifts of a regular auto or dual clutch setup.

      Hi! I have driven the GS200t (shortly only and did not film), but the car is great. I really liked the interiour and the quietness of the cabin. The big screen worked really well and all in all even the 200t version is a real contendor the the 5 series or A6. The GS300h has the same powerplant as the IS300h, so i already know, that is good.

    • @SilverhillDrives
      @SilverhillDrives  7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Agreed, if it had a normal automatic or a DSG it would be better, but the CVT is good in its own way - no gears mean absolute smoothness and with a hybrid system in low speeds actually thats what you want.

    • @gogutzy
      @gogutzy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      it's an ecvt - no chain or belt, just two planetary gear sets. it just mimics a cvt. in spite of the sound when hard on the throttle i'd say this 'box is better and simpler than a dsg or a normal automatic.

      @SilverhillDrives  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have not driven the brand new E-class, but compared to the audi - the lexus is more quieter. The hybrid powertrain is just so smooth. Seats i think audis are better. Not that Lexus seats are bad, but Audi seats have more support. If you are considering the IS vs A6 and E class, then you should also look at GS450h or GS300h - they are a direct rival to the Germans.
