I've used Excel for years at a basic level but have never heard a clearer, better explanation than this about locking cells. I've constantly wondered why, if I have to lock the cell to protect it, the box was already ticked when I went to format. Now I finally understand and you've saved me so much confusion. protect the sheet by using a password and they cant unprotect it unless they know the password
