Read the manual that came with your transceiver and learn what the other 50% of buttons do...!

Maybe a good time to exercise the brain and learn and/or practice Morse code! 👍. 73 de KF7VUT

Great tips Jason!! Since the weather is starting to turn nice here I may get out and hook up my WRC Clone that I built, finally got a 102" telescopic whip for it instead of using the 10 Meter Hamstick, and try and make some contacts with it from the back yard with the 817ND. Probably be a good time to show off my portable rig and get those pictures to you. LOL Then I may hook up my 9:1 unun EF random wire antenna and see which does better, my WRC Clone or the EF random. Of course I am not quarantined at home, I am an essential since I work for a state regulatory agency and I am a supervisor, so I have to report to work while my staff work from home. But with the time change when I get off at 4 in the evening I have plenty of daylight to get outside and do things. Have a great weekend and stay safe. Juddie - WD8WV

I have thought several times about buying a Wolf River Coil. Just never pushed the button. How do you like yours?

@@KM4ACK Jason, my WRC Clone is a homebrewed version of theirs, that is why I call it the clone. LOL After seeing theirs on the internet and videos on TH-cam I thought to myself I can build this myself. So I did. There are a couple videos on my channel that shows it. Of course when I built mine, I used a 10 Meter Hamstick as the radiating element. Then I did buy the 102" telescopic whip from WRC. I have used both my MFJ analyzer to check it and I have used my NanoVNA to check it. I used it one evening and made a contact, that is why I figure this weekend I will play radio in the back yard. When I posted my video and on Instagram my version, several people contacted me and have made their own as well. Juddie - WD8WV

Got my Pi4 chock full of hammy software thanks to your Build A Pi scripts that made it so easy. Still need to build the 40m Phaser transceiver and the big 10 foot diameter mag loop antenna for it, but I bought a new MSLA 3D printer and I've been busy designing new products with 3D printed parts.

Just stumbled on this one. Very cool ideas. Always looking for new things to explore. Do you have any ideas for employing UHF only radio like the Boafeng 888S? I've got a couple of these that just sit in the closet feeling lonely and useless. 73

Well. Harrumph! (Distancing?) hadn't any time. To install a 2 meter radio. In my car. So as we live in a large compound. I picked a spot away from every body. Then I spotted a car pointed (police) in my direction. Then as I turned the radio on and tuned thrugh. The band. Upward toward the weather channels I wanted.(for memory) My name was beeing "ran" . All because I left my yard and went to our park (by my selfe) No one around for 200 yards. Must have been bored.??so much for social.distancing???

Is it possible to run winlink/aprs/packet on a 6M SSB rig? If so, is there anyone to connect with in MA/NH?

To go along with explore a new antenna, use wspr to see where it hears, and wherenyou are heard. As for the Wolf River Coil, make sure to get the additional collars. Makes changing bands a snap once tuned. KK4BK

For a real challenge... code up a morse-to-cli terminal interface - j/k... well maybe not, worst case it will improve my fist and it's been a while since I played with assembler coding.
