For those who want to do this install on a 2005-2007 Xterra, the factory kit isn't compatible anymore. (The switch is for 08 and newer.) However you can order an OEM switch (Standard Motor Product: CBS-1668) and buy after market lights or get a used set, and the mounting hardware. (Nissan used Velo brand lights) I chose to buy a used OE set as the quality is higher. Most used units have one screw tab broken off. This is fine as you only need one. Just make sure the good tabs are on opposite sides and you'll have a working pair. With those parts in hand, Ry makes the rest easy with this excellent video! Install was a breeze! Thank you, Ry for this and all your excellent videos.

Awesome videos brother !! It's so nice to watch the job before actually doing it. Many Thanks !!
Just a friendly tip that was passed on to me and i pass onto others is turning screws backwards first with plastic anchors. Most of the time these threads are made the first time the screw was installed. Turning it backwards until you feel a bump allows the same threads to be used instead of cutting new ones over the old ones.

My granddaughters xterra has hazed headlight assemblies, and the turn signal stalk is worn and doesn't turn off when the wheel is turned. Ry has shown the bumper cover has to be removed to replace headlight assemblies. This video shows it would be easy to install fog lights while the cover is off, and when replacing the worn turn signal stalk, use one with a fog light switch. Great video!

Good info. I recommend a simpler, quicker way. All I did was turn they wheel (to give you more room) then remove the retainer screws (3ea) on wheel well. Pull back the plastic and after that you’ll have easy access.

I have a 2014 X model. All the literature I read said my model DID NOT have pre-installed wiring. Well last night some jerk stole my cap/cover and I look inside and saw what I thought looked like a plug...well sure enough, looks like my Xterra DOES have wiring pre-installed! So maybe I'll be getting new lights instead of a new cap/cover!

Hi from Oamaru New Zealand. I have a similar setup in my 2012 Nissan Navara D40 diesel (Frontier in U.S.A). Anyways I sustained big damage from a farm dog left loose at night which I hit at 60 m.p.h.
It was cheaper for me to buy and install a new "Ironman" Commercial deluxe Bullbar which has all new lites on plus protection.

@@Rythecarguy Dog saga was when dogs were on heat (in season) but farmer left it loose to roam. Dogs here on farms are cattle or sheep herding dogs.
Regarding the Navara D40 diesel the closest for you to buy in left hooker is out of Spain if you can. I'm running mine on Amsoil Signature series diesel oil and gear oils. The moment I changed it, it was way quieter and smoother. I'm very lucky to had purchased this as my 2008 jeep Wrangler diesel JKU was costing me $1500 per year with random issues and gear shift lever popping out of linkage which made it very dangerous so I opted to park it up then finance the Navara for 3 yrs. In that 3 yrs it's so reliable it only cost me for a set of
Toyo open country A/t tires, diesel milesl tax, fuel etc. Carl

Best how-to videos out there. Headlights and fog lights went in exactly as you said. However, the steering column switch I ordered through the link on your page was slightly different and doesn't fit. I'm hoping they will let me return or exchange just the switch since the fog lights are already installed. Also, I didn't take off the front bumper entirely. I unscrewed everything from the top and sides and as it was hanging, it exposed the work area enough to do the job. Thanks again for great videos. Any advice on the switch would be welcomed.

SMOD does not affect all 2nd gen Xterra's, only those made prior to the 2010 model year and are equipped with automatic transmissions. In the 2010 model year Nissan introduced a new radiator with a different part number and SMOD is not a problem on 2010 model year Xterras and newer.

@@OnePancho no, so I took a chance on my idea, go ahead and put fog lights in, on the column...just change only the blinker switch. It has locking clips. You will see. Just buy the one for your truck that's close. The trucks are made to have them, they just dont install them to lower the cost of the truck. Let me know if you need further information

Excellent friend, I will do it with my xterra. I never put these fog lights on it. Now I know I can do it myself.
What brand can I use and that is compatible with the size that my xterra needs?

No idea to be honest. I used stock fog lights off of another Xterra.

Love the videos Ry, I’ve gotten into most of the work on my 2011 frontier cause of these. Question for you, recently my fog lights won’t turn on. I replaced the 15a fuse and battery fuse and still no luck. Bulbs are both fine. Any ideas? Is there an independent relay?

Off topic- have you encountered the following lights coming on and staying on?
    ABS
    VDC
    SLIP
I have no brake issues that I’m aware of. Changed my front pads (using your video, great btw)
    And no other symptoms.

Not sure why this wouldn’t work on my chrome/metal bumper. It has plastic casing where the fog lights go on my 2007 Frontier. I don’t see any other purchase options out there anywhere for the chrome bumper fog light kit.

Hi I know this is a really old video, but I'm praying someone is still reading comments- at 6:19 you're holding the fog light electrical connector- it branches off from another bundle of wires... can you tell me what that bundle leads to? I was in a head on collision and I'm trying to do my own repairs, but cannot for the life of me figure out what this thing is or where it's supposed to go- it's a white rectangular block, maybe 1x1x3" with two bolt holes in it. Thanks!

I found a light switch stock at the junk yard (which worked great by the way) however it also has the "AUTO" option for the Daytime Running Light System. Do you know if I could also get the dash sensor and install it on my Xterra like I did with the switch?

There are five bolts on the bottom of that and the top just clips in. You should have no issue taking just the lower part off, but keep in mind that there is nuts more bumper under that.

Of course I will have some Jack Stands and wood blocks as well preventing car from dropping down. looking to do this on my 06 nissan frontier as I already added the Fog light Signal Switch So I am ready to go.

I don't agree with how big this job was on TH-cam. I just wanted a set of running lights on my 2016 Frontier not fog lights. I just pried off the fake caps on the front and found a set of round LED running lights for around $30 on eBay. I saw the wiring harness but ignored it since I wasn't going to install the steering control. Installed the lights, ran a wire to the fuse box and tapped into a fuse that only goes on when the car is running. They look great and almost like factory install. Didn't have to remove the bumper.

Eff all that. I installed mine by turning the wheel and gaining access through the wheel well covers. Much less work. Also, I switched the bulbs to L.E.D. bulbs before i installed the assembly. Soooo much better and brighter than incandescent bulbs.
