  • Cris Collinsworth presents an action-packed chronicle of the world's greatest athletes in history-making moments that made them The Record Breakers of Sports.
**Up until recently, I've been downloading my personal VHS collection. However, the collection is obviously limited. I started a Patreon page to better find and purchase old VHS videos on EBAY and other websites, as well as at garage sales and other locations that might have VHS available, so I can upload them for all to see and share for free. See it here: / tombombadil
The Record Breakers of Sports brings you:

Hammering Hank Aaron's 715th Home Run!
And much, much more! Dynamic footage backed by exclusive interviews with Boxing's Mike Tyson, Wimbledon record breaker Billie Jean King, Football's Jim Brown, Ice Hockey Hero Gordie Howe and more, these are people who more than just winning, went the extra distance, setting new standards of excellence. This is unbelievable!!! I used to own this documentary on VHS when I was a kid. Watched it like everyday cause i was an athletic kid. I haven't seen this thing in like 25 years and all the interviews and narration is still fresh in my mind to this day. Nostalgia is a real thing!!!

I watched this primarily to see what boxing was covered. I gained a lot more knowledge though and Bob Beamon breaking the existing long jump by nearly 2' is up there as the most impressive record breaker in all of sports history. But the Chavez vs Taylor fight, on March 17th 1990, is the most spine tingling record I've ever seen broken. Whether you agree with the stoppage or not, for Chavez to lose nearly every round and then in the 12th round come back and score an unlikely knockout. Even with a minute left in the 12th Jim Lampley said, "you're right Ray, it doesn't appear he has the stuff to get it done." Then with 26 seconds left Chavez landed a crushing right hand and then followed Taylor into the corner and landed another right hand that dropped Taylor. I lost my breath for about 10 seconds and I wasn't able to move or talk, I was in such awe of what I was seeing. After all the punches Chavez had taken in fight, to be able to find it in himself to do what he did was simply amazing and how can you beat that record scoring a come from behind KO with only two seconds left in the fight. It is a once in a life time experience.

Young Chris Collinsworth ........ Here he looks like he could be Scott Bakula's stunt double on quantum leap.
