      Hi Shri! If your plug is always on even when the car is off then for those cases this is what I use amzn.to/3BofzJI to control the lighter port manually or the dash cam can also be hardwired to make it turn on with the car and off with the car. Cheers!@@shrimumbaikar2478

    What would you suggest for an old classic car with no usb, no cig lighter & only 5 bus fuse bays all used. Run new power direct from battery with a fuse but not have a acc or hijack the power & acc off of the cd player being I don't use it or run power direct from battery but then use the acc wire from the cd player or amp ? Thanks

      @AlexAutoFun  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi F! Well technically fuse taps can be used on older vehicles (as long as the circuit tapped can support the additional load and can provide ACC and another can provide BATT, but I recommend you consult with your installer, some do prefer to run dedicated lines). @@ls-33wraith33 Hi LS-33wraith! Ah yes regarding using a power pack instead of hardwire kit, I have not tested myself since I actually prefer a normal cigarette lighter adapter or hardwire kit since here in California we experience really hot temperatures which I would not want to subject the Li-ion battery to, that and the potential for a run away event (fire) during charging or discharging inside the car. Here is an example of a internal dash cam battery and what the sun did to it th-cam.com/video/HW8jqbl_ayU/w-d-xo.html That being said I know some people do use them for their dash cams, so It may make sense to review one in the future for those that really want to stick to a battery. What is strange too, is that most dash cams only pull about 2-3Amps or less if it's not a mirror dash cam, so the battery shouldn't be drained that fast. That may be an indication your battery has developed a bad cell or it's on it's way out, I would strongly recommend getting it tested to confirm it still good and avoid getting stranded one day. And here is the battery tester that I use th-cam.com/video/kCNrfa8RUKU/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps, Cheers!

They don’t offer a hardwire cable from its brand Amazon pairs it with a three wire cable but the plug that came with it was a regular cigarette plug of course but I’m wondering if it had a built-in volt meter to recognize the increase or decrease in voltage when the vehicle is in run or start or running and decode that signal internally I just don’t know

    Well explained, thank you. I installed my b4k dashcam following all the instructions and it seems that it always stays on parking mode. Hi Youssef Oussaid! you're welcome! ah regarding time-lapse, on most dash cams if you enable this option normal recording stops (no loop recording) as the dash cam records a time lapse instead. However if your dash cam supports both loop recording and time lapse at the same time, then you may have an issue with the dash cam or hardwire kit. • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Chumpon! This depends on the hardwire kit brand and type being used. But typically on 3 wire hardwire kits, the way they work is that the ACC wire is used to sense when the car is on or off and BATT is used to allow the dash cam to enter parking mode (if enabled) Cheers!

    I have the Kingslim DL12 Pro 4K Mirror Dash Cam and rove hardwirekit. I have installed in my GF truck and it’s works perfectly fine, no issues. I also have it installed in my Honda Civic and the dashcam been having lots of issues. It will reboot itself constantly. Sometimes it goes to parking mode when I turn on the car. I’m not sure what’s causing it. I want the dashcam to be on 24/7. It works fine on the truck, but on the Honda Civic. It will go bad within a day or two after being on 24/7.

      Hi WaveGod! I have not reviewed the Kingslim D12 yet (may have to add to the list of dash cams to review) I typically recommend sticking to the matching hardwire kit for the dash cam, but unfortunately Kingslim does not have a hard wire kit for them which is why I understand why you are trying to use a different branded one. However as I explained in the video mirror dash cams are power hungry, double check the AMP requirement of the D12 to make sure you are not exceeding it (which can lead to the repeat rebooting) If the D12 uses Mini-USB, you may have better luck with this kit th-cam.com/video/_MlRJ2_cd2o/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps bud!

      Hi Googoo! There are several versions of 3 hardwire kits out there so it may be possible that they don't all work the same (your installer should refer to the instructions that came with the kit for correct wiring). But typically ACC and BATT are used together in order for a 3 wire hardwire kit to function. The ACC line is used to tell the dash cam when the car is running so it can turn on and record. The BAT line is used to tell the dash cam that it is hardwired and to enable parking mode. • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Adeiton! Ah good question, there is no command send, on 3 wire hardwire kits the Dash cam will detect all 3 wires connected (ACC, BAT and GND) where on a cigarette lighter plug it will only detect 2 (Power and Ground). That is how the dash cam knows it's hardwired, that being some kits have additional checks in place (unfortunately) like Garmins hardwire kit being the only one that Garmin dash cam recognize, here is my video showing why th-cam.com/video/RoiQ-Xvr09M/w-d-xo.html Cheers!

    Can you just wire the red and Yellow wires together if you cant find a acc connection? I dont see a purpose for the acc wire other than to detect when the engine is on or off but i still dont see how tieing them together could change the functionality.

      Hi Hellbent 706! There are usually several places where ACC can be found on. If the the BATT and ACC wire a connected together the dash cam will stay on all the time and park mode will not enable. Here is my detailed video on how to find ACC and BAT on any vehicle th-cam.com/video/K2iKXj82354/w-d-xo.html But I strongly recommend professional installation due to the circumstances covered on that video and on my other video th-cam.com/video/uZp95NbNlmM/w-d-xo.html regarding the airbags on a car. @AutoFun Thanks. So, if the acc wire and the battery wire are tied together, will the dashcam still turn off if the voltage drops to the preset limit? I don't really think I need parking mode.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome Hellbent 706! Ah that maybe a possibility, it would depend on the hardwire the installer uses, most of the time 3 lead hardwire kits need all 3 leads connected to their respective places for them to work correctly. Some dash cam use a 2 lead hardwire kit, on those only 2 wires need to be connected for the hardwire kit to work correctly. Hope this helps, Cheers!

    Is there a difference with a intelligence hardwire kit vs a regular hardwire kit? ( I have the Rexing V1P Max Plus )

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Chanaya! Correct, there is a difference, since "smart" is a marketing term, it can mean a couple things, most of the time it means that the hardwire kit has a low voltage cut off to prevent the kit from draining the battery where on basic hardwire kits sometimes there is no cut off so those can potentially stay on pulling power the car until the battery is fully drained. Cheers!

    hi there, if I have one of those hardwire kits that have the 3 wires (red, yellow, black), how do I connect it to a battery directly? Do I twist the red and yellow together and attach it to the poz terminal of the battery in order to get my dashcam to work?
    The scenerio here is attaching the 3 wire hardwire kit to a battery on my motorcycle so I can power a dash cam. I am not worried about a key starts but want power always on since I will be removing the dashcam from my bike every time I'm finished riding. Therefore will only attach to my bike when I go riding so constant power is fine. Thanks

      Hi T C! Here is my hardwire install video th-cam.com/video/K2iKXj82354/w-d-xo.html while you are the first viewer that has mentioned installing one to a bike, I imagine other have done it. To be honest, I think an action camera maybe more appropriate for ease of install vs a dash cam, dash cam cables, hardwire kit, hardwire kit cables, externa battery. But it is possible if your installer is up to the task (the number of wires to be connected will vary depending on the hardwire kit being used but yes they should all be fused just like in a normal vehicle install) Cheers!

    Garmin didnt just "put something inside" to make it work with only Garmin. To enable the dashcam to enter parking mode it has to "talk" to the dashcam. There are only 4 wires int he USB connector. 2 are power, and 2 are data + and -, which is the USB differential pair to carry data. Therefore, it would need to send a message to the dashcam that the power on the "ACC' or switched lead went away. The only proper way to do that is via the data lines, and just like USB devices that plug into your computer, each needs an ID.
    So it's not just the Garmin that "put something inside", its ANY dashcam that would enter parking mode. Long and short is you need to stick with your brand for the hardwire kit.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James! ah yes I originally thought that was the case until I did a tear down on it and found only 3 wires are being used (ACC, BATT power, ground) Basically dash cam manufacturers are not using the USB connector according to the standard we are used to (with data lines for communication) What's inside the Garmin kit turned out to be a resistor (value has also been identified by other users) that is placed in between two positions in the connector end of the kit (inside the overmold) The resistor is only found in the Garmin kit as other kits of other brands do not have it so I fully agree with you on sticking to the brand that matches the dash cam you are using. Here is the follow up video showing the inside of the kit, check out the comments section to if you want to know the value of the resistor and position th-cam.com/video/RoiQ-Xvr09M/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps, Cheers!

    For my dash cam to run a 24/7 parking mode, is it necessary to have the 3 lead hardwire and have the batt lead to be contacted to a constant fuse slot? Or it just depends on the model of the dash cam and could possibly use the 2 lead one? Thanks in advance!
