And yet there still are fools who say that Roger Waters is not a great bass player. This song's bassline alone is worth dozens of discographies. Amazing groove, melody, locks in perfectly with drums and guitar. The Thin Ice is another favourite of mine. Great job! Your execution was top notch
@@RDog4484 I know, but just listen to Echoes from Pompeii. The groove on the solo part is amazing! Also, I love the part he plays in the footage of him recording Eclipse
this is surely Roger. He plays like this, I think gilmour was a bit more melodic with his playing. Plus I think you can tell when Gilmour was playing bass cause in live performances Roger would take on guitar duties, like in Pigs and Sheep (1977 Animals tour, Roger was playing guitar live) @@RDog4484
Alot of people saying Waters did not play bass on this, while you are correct in Gilmour playing on a few tunes you are correct in anytime you hear a FRELESS bass, (Hey You & Pigs for example), but this track was Rog. Even if he did not play the bass on several tunes, he had a lot to say about how the timing should be. The man knew how to leave space. In the non-Waters era, they lost that timing and arrangement ability Waters possessed.
@@Gma7788 Nah, the geeza ain't making it up me ol china, tone is a thing son!. And, maaaybe he might be comparing him to guy twat, oh sorry I mean pratt. Waters use's a plectrum and so does the geeza in this video. Pratt use's his finger tips..like a twat. Get a more punchier sound out of it, using a plectrum
I almost died to this song last week was heading to work on the highway, picked up my coffee and the lid came off spilling it all over my lap lol I looked up, was on the left shoulder and before I could react I smacked a bank of ice doing 120km/h wrecked my car and messed up my back fracturing my L1 disc I didn't find out until yesterday when I opened Apple Music that this song was playing lol I put on "Young Lust" in the drive thru getting coffee and I guess this song came on afterwards! Anyways I'm obsessed with it and its now sentimental to me AND of course @BassTabsByJason is the one with the bass tab hahah Much love to every single person here ✌
Thanks so much for this! Always one I’ve wanted to learn. I’m a guitarist by trade but i love playing bass too and I could never find a real tab anywhere for this. Amazing job as always, absolute top player! 👌
Thanks for this. Those low to high jumps (bar 6 "A" for instance) have me wondering if folks try this on 5-string. From what I read, Waters played 4-string.
Jason, love your work, thank you. Quick question? Could you put the chords over the top of the tablature? Is that even technically possible(to print). Would that get you into trouble, copyright wise? Anyway it sure would be awesome if you could do that. I, for one, find it much easier to learn a cover tune if the chord changes are written over the top of the tab.
I'm not sure if I'm tripping too much on this, because I couldn't find any reference over the conclusion I just got trying to learn this bassline. But did anyone else noticed that those random slides and other gimmicks have a resemblance of someone randomly coughing in the middle of a phrase? I mean, we have other songs like Pigs where some of the guitar licks bring the sound of a pig oinks.
Definitely David on Bass….you can tell in his licks….same with Pigs….nobody could bring the sleazy out of the instrument like Gilmour- can almost feel the slimy music execs in this one!

There were many documented times that David Gilmour would record the bass parts. Just sayin'.

It has nothing to do with Roger, my man. That's Gilmour on bass here. I see here same licks as in Pigs 3DO.
