    Hi Rob, Jack’s a great chap with a terrific channel. I learnt a lot there Rob, as I have only really heard a couple of their albums. This really helped the education, many thanks for showing TISB. Mike

    Hi Rob. Thanks for the brilliant entry and support. Really appreciate you taking the time. I’ve been subbed to John and Alan’s channels for a long time, great channels. Never heard the phrase marmite band before.😂😂. I love The Incredible String Band. Mike from MGK Boston just sent me a VCLT of their double live album, but I don’t have any of their 60s output which are hard to come by over here. Great discography you have. Love your videos from the pink room in the attic. Your name goes in the hat my friend. Cheers.

      Really enjoyed showing off the collection and talking about the band..appreciate being given the opportunity!.
      If I'm lucky enough to win, please donate the money to a Motor Neurone Disease charity, it would be in memory of my dad.

    Dead right Rob - those first five ISB albums particularly are in my humble opinion the greatest examples of creative writing and arrangement
    in the 20th century - particularly the Williamson output. For sheer originality and breaking the previous boundaries of song writing's accepted tradition, the meandering melodies coupled with superb seemingly stream of conscious lyrics all wrapped up in a whimsical but emotionally
    driven delivery, there is nothing to rival their output. I would place them in the same rarified realm as Lennon/McCartney and (at his best) Ray Davies as being the embodiment of British post war creative music/art. The circle is indeed unbroken and has never been bettered.

      Very eloquently put Martin!.. Nice to hear from someone with a deep appreciation of their talent.
      Thanks for watching and the great comment.

    Hi Rob, nice video on the great Incredible String Band. I think my favorites are The 5000 Sprits and Changing Horses. Surprised to hear that you're not so keen on Changing Horses, I think this was the album that inspired Dr. Strangley Strange to find their way. All superbly produced by the fabulous American, Joe Boyd and Witchseason Productions. Greetings from Michigan.

      I should probably play Changing Horses again as its been a while!.
      I have listened to Dr Strangely Strange, I can definitely hear the influence.

    Hi Rob, you shouted out two great channels. I'm also a fan of the Baggy Hifi intros. Incredible String Band are a band that I need more of in my collection.

      I definitely reccomend Wee Tam and the Big Huge if you don't already have them.

    This one shocked me Rob - was expecting you to do a video on Mr. Harper 🤣. Excellent choice of channels to give a shout out to - 2 of the best.
    ISB are definitely the perfect definition of a marmite band - but I love marmite. Though I liked their music from the very first, they were band I had to be in the right mood to listen to. That's not so much the case now, but they're definitely not a band to put on in the background. I've managed to pick up most of their original run of albums cheaply over the years - with the exception of Wee Tam - envious of double version with The Big Huge - never see that one in the wild.
    Excellent overview of the band sir.

      Hello, I stumbled across the UK 2LP set of Wee Tam & The Big Huge back in the Goldmine days (early 90s). It's mint and mono (I think), orange labels. It also has an insert peom by Robin. Really cool, I haven't ever seen it in the wild either. Greetings from Michigan.

      I did consider highlighting Roy, but I figured the VC is sick to the back teeth of me showing him!!..lol.
      The Wee Tam/ Big Huge is not the best copy, but nice to have I guess.
      Thanks for watching.

    Hi Rob, two great UK channels highlighted there. Hmmm I agree ISB are marmite in my experience. I have tried and failed with them. I've owned six or seven of their albums over the years. I still have a couple of CDs and will probably try again in a few years...have a good week, cheers Dale

      I recall you saying that you weren't a fan..and actually thought of you when I made the ' marmite analogy.
      Have a great week.

    Nice entry Rob. I have only recently discovered Jack's channel so I have a lot of catching up to do. Great to see the ISB records in succession...I've only got Hangman though I also have the COB album which I really like.

    Thanks for the very kind words (blush.) Weirdly enough I was eating a crumpet with Marmite spread on it when I was watching your video! So I do like Marmite and I do like Incredible String Band too. Nice overview of ISB Rob. You’ve reminded me I still need to check out Wee Tam and Big Huge.

      You're welcome John!
      Clearly no fence sitter with ISB then!..Wee Tam and the Big Huge is their best album(s) for sure, they were never quite as good after thst imho.

    Having watched your vids, I guessed Incredible String band before you said it! BTW ISB got a fair bit of play in USA "underground"/FM stations '67-'68, though that fell off.

    • @robison5396
      @robison5396  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I believe they had a good run of success in the US during that period.
      Robin and Mike them gave away a lot of their royalties earned after becoming absorbed with Scientology.

    Wee Tam is my absolute faviurite ISB album. Mine is a UK repress, without the Big Huge, which I got much later and am less familiar with WeeTam has a very spiritual feel to it, especially Log Cabin Home in the Sky and Job's Tears. It's a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.

    • @robison5396
      @robison5396  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agree.. It is a masterpiece, particularly Robins' compositions..the breadth of his musical creativity is astonishing on Wee Tam..never bettered.
      My favourites on The Big Huge are also Robins' like the epic opener, Maya and The Iron Stone..spine tingling stuff!..thanks for watching and commenting, appreciated.
