I remember reading 1Q84 when I was a teenager and loved it, it was the first time I was actively aware of the writing, but I recently reread it and although I was very engaged, there are some iffy things about it

Provocative interview, NW probably his most popular is hardly his best. Encourage you to keep going IMO The Windup Bird Chronicle is IMO his best work.

I very much liked the bird chronicle, wild sheep chase, the hardboiled end of the world and Kafka on the shore and very much disliked Norwegian wood and 1q84. I think murakami is great to read when you're in your 20s. I'm no 35 and I think I wouldn't like them so much if I was to re-read them now.
