Wow the Sargent played that most beautifully and showed as she commented, it is something quite special to play in memory of colleagues lost.
Thank you for sharing that moment 🙏

Sergeant Silk has it right - it's not about notes, it is about honouring the fallen who paid the supreme sacrifice that we may enjoy freedom. That contributes to one's confidence when we are called upon to use our talents to help everyone remember and grieve. It is a sacred duty. Thank you for your service Sgt. Silk. You do the Bands of HM Royal Marines proud!

I can’t imagine the pressure of playing The Last Post (or Taps here in the US). That is one thing that always has to be exactly right. Thanks to you and all the other buglers who are willing to take on that responsibility.

We had a former RM bugler play the Last Post at my dad's funeral. I had held it until that point, having read a eulogy and giving the scripture readings. I stood at the front and sobbed my heart out when he played.

Corps Bugle Major one day?Dream it.Picture it.Become it.Well done Kerry from Pete Law xBugler and side kick to Alan Piner in the 60s,70s,80s that's the nineteen hundreds by the way.:)
ps, Al Piner and I are honoured that you still play some of our solo's ,as with such competition over the years from you youngsters in how high you've raised the bar to great heights its great to hear our stuff still being played.Keep raising the bar.
pps at 69 I've just finished a years jazz drumming lessons with Peter Erskine via his home studio in LA,the best is yet to come.By the centre..............

Well done. In the US during the Vietnam War, most Army Band trumpet players stood duty to play Taps at graveside services around the geographic area served by the Band. Sometimes heart wrenching.

2021, skip to 04:50 if you want to hear it. I am almost in tears if I listen to any more. I am lucky I got out with my life, my sanity is missing, but I am more fortunate than others. I lost a few friends, but not as bad as some people. I am glad that I never got Lyneham which is a base that I put in for, but back then you didn't know that the war dead was brought back there. A lot of good people have died in recent years, not for serving their Country, but because of political greed.
