4:10:05 Okay so I may have known OneShot for 5 years but it's only now when re-watching this that I finally understood that TWM was a world/code generated from people's memories, explaining why it was such a big project. Up until now I thought that somehow a RPG Maker XP simulation was harder to run than AIs in the Old World-
I havent played this game yet, saw a comment about it being good, came to take a look and just from watching 2 seconds of this video im in love lol. It absolutely reminds me of deltarune and kind of hollow knight which are definitely in my top 10 fav.
Nice playthrough! One thing I don't get is, the OneShot wiki says Rue is briefly playable in the Solstice run but in this playthrough she remains an NPC so I'm guessing it's something of an optional easter egg? How do you play as her then? And is there any reason to raise the corn seed left from Maize in the first run? Seems like it doesn't change anything even if you complete all the steps to help it grow, is it really just for the achievement?
Thank you! :) I haven't heard anything about Rue being briefly playable, so I think that it's some sort of easter egg. Well, raising the corn seed isn't any story driven thing, it is indeed optional, you get an extra image if you choose to place the sun instead of destroying it and you will get an achievement from it. Other than that, it doesn't really make a difference
@@idoplaythroughs Ah, I see. An extra picture in the finale is a good bonus, if the quest adds a bit more to the ending then it's well worth doing. Thanks!
I’m on my own OneShot rabbit hole right now, and I found where playable Rue was. During the original release of the 2016 Steam remake, the timer in the observation desk counted down to the release of Solstice. If you were watching when the timer hit 00:00:00, you could see Rue enter the locked door and play as her for a bit, as a sort of teaser for the Solstice content. Pretty neat!
@@audenjb So that's how it was, thanks for clarifying. Too bad this got dropped from the console edition even though Rue's character file name still omits the "NPC" portion, implying that she might be playable here too. I thought it was strange that some NPCs in the World Machine Edition talk about the door timer counting down but it's actually counting up (really it just reads your system clock). I need to watch a full playthrough of the 2016 Steam version some time, sounds like it's still the definitive version. I heard that quite a few puzzles from the PC release were removed or simplified in WME but I couldn't find any documented comparisons between the versions.
Its more of a oversight from the developer around that time. They were supposed to release an update to the game prior to the timer hitting zero. But it was not ready at that time so they updated the game to make rue playable as a way to give a heads up that it got delay metally instead of breaking immersion by announcing the delay on the steam page. Being the world machine edition is a console port of the game they don't need to add that in because the game is fully completed by that time hence it is unnecessary to show the delay message. Another fact the Solstice run is vastly different from the original plan. initially you plays as the author. Make more sense since the original one shot game the first of the first version. You only given the choice of save Niko or save the world. there is no Solstice run that can save both.
If I recall correctly, you should head to the documents folder, there should be a save file there, delete that file and that will activate the Solstice playthrough!
There are a few new things like little "collectables" around the game which can be wallpapers, themes and you can also get profiles for certain npcs by talking to them a certain ammount of times. But to the main OneShot game everything remains the same.
Honestly the Steam version is just the best version of OneShot so far. Tho the 2014 version is good at keeping the name OneShot a bit more authentic. As if you close the game once the game instantly punishes you by killing Niko meanwhile on the Steam version there aren't really any consequences for closing the game except for the fact you get an achievement if you beat the game without closing it once.
1:46:24 The moment we all waited for.
The true highlight for me!
10 hour version coming up! (jk)
@@idoplaythroughs I wish they made it so it was possible to steal it and play the whole rest of the game riding a vaccum cleaner lol.
@@YourLocalCommenter0I really hope a mod will release where you can do that lol

sure some things are lost in the process but adapting a game like that for the switch is a HUGE feat on its own. congrats to whovered did this port

Man what a amazing game.

1:23:12 I’m confused here when I went into the courtyard they followed me there and I’m just stuck and the person I gave the sun wont disappear
When you give Maisze the sun, more areas should become accessible, i think that once you explored those areas she will disappear

some QoL changes and some effects make this version of the game more fun to play... albeit less personalized interactivity with TWM
Is this still using RPG maker or a completely different engine?
the whole fake desktop seems pretty hard to do even on the newer versions
I’m in the refuge and I have the film, sun, Amber, mystery notebook, magnets, feather and metal can but where do you get the tube of water from?
ony day i decided to get one shot now im heart broken
3:20:00 i got back and now i don't know how to advance on the history
I believe if you go back, you'll have to play teh game "normally" again, I believe if that option is chosen, you're locked out of Solstice
unfortunally i beated the game again because of it, but then i beated solstice in the third playthrough@@idoplaythroughs
First thing i did was to save the world instead of returning home, and now I can't play the game (Inside of TWM program), how do I continue?

What if you decided to let Nikko go back? How do you continue with the game for the Solstice run?

Why was the text on the desktop so tiny?
Because I set the resolution in-game to 1920x1080.
