Kyo's voice is magnetic. I am always drawn into his voice. I wish I knew more people around where i live that likes Dir En Grey. They are just amazing.
one of my co-workers (HUGE metal fan and plays in a band) was kind enough to show me a lot of bands i hadn't heard about. when he showed me this song i instantly fell in love
idv22 Dir En Grey is just yummy all around. I've been listening to them a lot lately. I really want the albums Gauze and Vulgar, I do not have those yet.
Morgan C Grab them while you can., I own every album aside from Arche (can't spare 40 dollars for an album currently) and they're all unique and excellent
I'm a Withering to Death fan, that's my favorite album. I saw Diru live yesterday at the House of Blues and they played this album.Words cannot explain the emotion that Kyo sings with. It transcends all language barriers. It's mesmerizing and magical. I love his voice. I love everything about Diru's performance. Everyone just does their own thing and they're GREAT at it. They're by far the best band I've seen live. This whole album is amazing. Their music is amazing. DIRU FTW
He may scream like some incredible amazing animal, but there is something so undeniably human about Kyo's voice I find more enchanting than anything in the world. Put with the godly instrumental, it's beyond hypnotic.
Kyo isn't just greatest vocalist in the world, but the entire band is forever changing and once you have touched as many genre's as Diru has earned their place as greatest band in the world.
I had "Dum Spiro Spero" tattooed on my wrist a few years ago coz I have celtic heritage on both sides of my family and with each family crest they have mottos, my mothers family crest has that :) So I was excited when I heard Dir en Grey were naming their album after it :D They are so amazing I still enjoy their music now :)
Dir en Grey are Dir en Grey. They are not a version of Dream Theater, they're nothing like KoRn or Slipknot. They are the very best band in the world. They are at the top of the mountain that is the music world, sitting on five thrones and there is no band that will be able to reach their level and be better than they are
I feel like it's not fair to think about things like that. There are so many killer songs, so many killer bands, in Japan alone. Japan fucking rules when it comes to music and complex melodies, and it's no wonder they're number two industry in all the world, and they don't gotta do their songs in English like everyone else. This and pretty much the entire album stand at the very top of that monumental pinnacle alongside a number of their other works nonetheless.
This album is different, but actually not that massively if to listen it properly, but it's good when a band can be different in every new album. This album is good.
It isnt that they dont like the song (this is for prznt) it comes down to the audio engineers that they tour with. They deem first their set; whether, the song is either do-able. Not on a basis of like or not. Obviously they love the song for they would of not included it in the recording. Lastly, they could play it, just have all the pedals ready and audio engineers set, no troubles. Some things may be a little different. There are two guitarist so an interchanging work between is possible.
The part at 3:35 makes me want to just start a world war or something. Reminds me of Opeth, too! I wish it was a bit longer. SUCH a great section of the song.
@mrsolofeo Haha yeah, I've actually chilled out to songs like Saku & Child Prey before... & imo Kyo is the most versatile, most talented vocalist in the world.
I think Uroboros is a better album and I think Vinushka and this are pretty much equal, though this song has a really chilling feel to it, the last chorus is just spectacular.
Surprisingly, this is my favorite song for almost 5 years, but at that moment I did not pay much attention. This is an unearthly cry! I also adore the final note on 9:16
@growlgrowlpigsqueal people are calling it that due to the fact that the structure of the song is VERY similar to Vinushka. No the chords are not the same but the progression is pretty much in the same vein. My 2 cents....
@SSJ3Lunar All the "genre" they've done are just variants of rock. By your logic, any halfway decent session musicians would be "greater" than Dir en grey, considering the versatility required for session work.
In retrospect to writing that, I think the only reason it sounds sloppy to me is because I don't speak japanese. Either way, the instrumental rocks. I was a fan of both Deftones and Dir en Grey though and left them both for vocals reasons...but both bands have some wicked good guitar to be influenced from.
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT ALBUM COVER! Bamboo I think? And a pile of... bones and skulls? While I Breathe, I Hope it reads in Latin, and below... Hope in what?! FFS DEG FUCKS MY MIND! Gotta hand it to em, that's not an easy thing to do >.
The title reads Dum Spiro Spero, While I Breath I Hope. The cover image is Tara, the mother of liberation in tibetan buddhism. The bamboo was meaningful symbol to the band. It represents sacredness and serenity.
It's good that people like what they like. Personally, I cannot stand the "aggressive" parts of their songs; those parts sound so bland and uninspired, plus the guitars sound weak as shit.
lmao... since when being gay or not has anything to do with feeling emotions? that cliché tough hardcore guy mask is so ghetto nowadays... not even girls dig it anymore dude, stop fooling youself.
Why do i feel my power increase with this song. Like before listening i feel like blended cat crap but after i feel like going 12 rounds with mike tyson
Even the original Macabre has that quality they couldn't replicate in the expansion. That extra material they added really completes that version however. I really wish they did that more to old songs. It really is something that's unheard of among just about any band.
Aggressive yet so beautiful; the typical Dir en grey feeling. 'Feel it? The breeze in the field The water reaches the heart and gives it life But the bud... is trampled on again' Love them lyrics!
It breaks my heart that this song could not be another 5 seconds to join the other two 10+ minute-long songs they have. Regardless, their longer songs really reveal the true essence of Dir En Grey, lyrically and musically.

i draw to his voice .
I've been listening to DeG since 1998... I'm still here in 2018 loving them every step of the way. Kyo is amazing in person .
I'm a Withering to Death fan, that's my favorite album. I saw Diru live yesterday at the House of Blues and they played this album.Words cannot explain the emotion that Kyo sings with. this is their best album imo XD
Honestly those guys are all killers, this band will be remembered, it's not a hard guess
He may scream like some incredible amazing animal, but there is something so undeniably human about Kyo's voice I find more enchanting than anything in the world. Put with the godly instrumental, it's beyond hypnotic.
He just wanted pizza or sushi rice.
This is the epitome of modern metal.
That voice is amazing and beautiful.
The respect I have for the part that starts at 3:33 💕 this song is one of their masterpieces.
My fav minute is the minute exactly before that. One of their finest solos for forever.
個人的にはvinushikaに匹敵するぐらいの大作だと思う

There's more than one mountain to climb in the music world.

this < 3
No
This band is absolutely awsome, their sound and atmospheres are unique.
Mainly the atmosphere. Kyo rocks on the stage! All of them in fact.
This is a fantastic song. I have ordered the cd already but until it arrives, I am listening to your upload. Thank you so much.
Best song ever.
i listen this song day after day.
DIR EN GREY, they are not genious, they are best.

This song in otherworldly.
The atmosphere of DSS is unmatched imo
that scream at 5:57 tho
It reminds me of Opeth mixed with CoFs Midian. It just reminds me, don't freak out. Really good.
+purplhayes great comparisons. I hear it
I don't quite hear the gothicness of Midian, but I see what you meant with the Opeth.
midian is my fav cof album, deg and cof are kinda my life rn xD
Vinushka II. Awesome. I'm looking forward to hear something similar in the next album.
Despacito 2
Macabre 2 ^^
@@enattendantphalaris6348 It is not time for another expansion to Macabre, but keep patient. It will be their Art Of Life.
I've always thought they're like a crazier, more experimental and unrestrained version of Opeth.
que temazo, monstruoso de los mejores de dir en grey
Kon'nichiwa mama. ... Mama... Mama... ... Watashi no kyandi ga hoshī... ... Mama............
Did i just see deftones? Lovellly! Dir en grey and deftones respect and love for both,oh godd yess.
めっちゃかっこいいからこそ
Liveでもホイッスル頑張って出して欲しい。
Kyo's voice, I don't know whether to be scared or not by his growling.
Kyo inhales the tainted disgusting air of humanity, and serenades the listener with the recombined masterpiece!
My body is ready
just saw these guys last night in toronto...t'was EPIC to say the least
Dir en Grey is the Dir en Grey version of Dir en Grey.
This album is different, but actually not that massively if to listen it properly, but it's good when a band can be different in every new album. This album is good.
Absoulutely delicious~
@growlgrowlpigsqueal Agreed sir. I imagine half the people commenting haven't heard of Diru before they came to the states.
If you have an instrumental version of this go ahead and send this, love the music. The transitions are very well done.

@growlgrowlpigsqueal I agree with you man, this is the material i hold in respect since Macabre. The music in these 2 albums truly defines the band.
I was singing along to this, and then 5:40 happened.

5:57 the best moment in this album

Yes they are. Vinushka is fairly Opethian too, don't you think?
will be moshing all around on the 22nd^W^
@growlgrowlpigsqueal people are calling it that due to the fact that the structure of the song is VERY similar to Vinushka. No the chords are not the same but the progression is pretty much in the same vein. My 2 cents....
@slovesk766 I agree !
it has the same main metal riff that is in vinushka.
That was my first thought too.
vinushka was a great song so they probably mean it in a good way
This is not Vinushka 2, this is Diabolos.
Do Celtic crests typically have Roman mottoes in Latin?
blue velvet
Yeah and Dir En Grey is like the Japanese version of Dream Theater.
:-) ta re genial
@SSJ3Lunar All the "genre" they've done are just variants of rock. By your logic, any halfway decent session musicians would be "greater" than Dir en grey, considering the versatility required for session work.

The lyrics are a lot different than Vinushka... Thats all I can say for the alikeness of the song.

Good shit, thanks
@growlgrowlpigsqueal i love you. can we be best friends?
Nope, used to listen to Vulgar and Withering to Death a lot.
Why?
not really, they both just happen to be progressive bands.
It defeats Vinushka.
It's good that people like what they like. Personally, I cannot stand the "aggressive" parts of their songs; those parts sound so bland and uninspired, plus the guitars sound weak as shit.

UROBOROSでいうVINUSHKAの立ち位置の曲と勝手に思ってる
正にそうですね。 ディル以上に10分尺の曲が短く感じるバンドは出会ったことがない
What a band, with Vinushka and Macabre (the second version), this song is one my favorites. Unique sound and atmosphere, you can't copy that.
+++ and World of mercy, my fav)

Dir en Grey don't sound like shit bands. Dir en Grey have talent unlike 99.9% of the music industry.
Everytime I listen to this song I have to listen all the way through or im not satisfied. For me this is better than Vinshruka.
True af!
No way. Vinushka isn't beatable.
@@dimdid1001 Vinshruka drags a bit imo
Agree
@@dimdid1001 Macabre tho (I like both versions about the same).
