The difference between spanish and english commentators is that spanish react as a fan would after a goal, save, etc and after that they give a commentary. English was to directly go to the commentary

the origin of this is that radios weren't that good at transmitting voices in the 60's, especially in south america, so everytime a goal happened they had to be very clear about what happened and who did it, thus "GOOOOOL, DE-BRA-SIL" (GOOOAL, FROM BRA-SIL) was born as a way to do that, then it went from being common practice to being part of the experience itself

I don't blame the usa commentators for acting bored.
Imagine if you have to commentate on a game that barely gets any funding or viewers because your country places more funding for american football over this sport. You can't even be genuinely excited for this team because more people in the US would rather watch NFL.
Of course they're gonna be formal and non-passionate about this sport. I don't even like football and I can see how sad it is.

Actually…After reading the comments I wouldn’t necessarily agree!
The MOST BORING commentary is actually SPANISH commentary!!!!
OMG…talk about the most boring commentary of all time!
They make British commentary seem exciting.
I’ve tried watching commentators from SPAIN and maaaan…it’s like listening to a bunch of airhead girls gossiping and stating the obvious! Sorry to say but it’s crap 💩!
As for British commentary, DARREN FLETCHER…he is the man! He’s the one closest to Latin American commentary.
Ironically, the best commentators are from Latin America!
The best of the BEST would be the MEXICAN COMMENTARY TEAM of Cristian Martinoli, Dr Garcia, and Raul Campos!!!!
Those guys are what commentary should sound like!
Check out Mexico vs Germany World Cup and you’ll see what I mean!
So best: Mexican / Latin American commentators
    Worst: Commentary from Spain!!!
