This man Leon Tidwell is my daddy ❤️ when I was a young girl I remember my dad keeping journals reading maps studying the river, and it proved to help him become one of the greatest fisherman that ever fished Pickwick lake - My daddy is one of the reasons why this area is on the map for fishing - he took pride in his fishing he was very serious about his fishing he not only loved fishing but he also had a family he had to feed and take care of he was a Brickmason and in the cold winter months or during raining season he didn't have much work so fishing was another way to pay the bills - I don't think my daddy truly knew just what kind of impact he left to other fisherman he was a one of a kind man and he did thing's his way - He was a lagend and he didn't even have a clue.. My daddy made me proud he was a Dad that made sure he did whatever it took to take care of his family . Thank you all for your kind words and I hope y'all continue fishing it's a great sport and I still love fishing my daddy made sure his children all knew how to 🐠 fish 🐟
I fished with Leon as a young teenager. My family knew his, and we went bass fishing during the summers I was off for school because everyone else was working while i was on summer break. That man knew more about bass fishing than anyone I will ever meet in my life. I caught my biggest smallmouth with him, weighing 6lbs 4oz, and my biggest largemouth, weighing 7lbs 2oz. Many years down the road, I still haven't beaten those fish. He would never give excuses about not catching fish. He would always reel up, and go to the next spot because "the fish are always biting somewhere.". I love and miss that man so much. He gave me so many guaranteed ways to catch fish, that it changed my whole perception of fishing. Everytime I go on the water, I know they can be caught. No matter how long, how hard, or how slow it is, one will finally be caught. Rolland Martin said it best.....he is LEGENDARY. RIP brother.
To Jackofstevens. what he is saying is this do you see where the boat is facing? He is facing the current. While the current comes down you throw your bait into the current at an angle as he saying left or right. He is not bank fishing he is throwing out in the current which depends on where you at deeper & at this time fish are in deep water due to cold water like 50 degrees. So more & likely they are in 15-20 feet. Smallmouth is in this deep of water. I & my uncle fished little riverbank fishing but not shallow we are out about 20 feet deep. We are using Swimbait color at this time is Tenn. Chart. you do this like a worm and as they said you do not get bites when the current is off. I would say at least 20,000 discharges but for a really good day when it hits 50,000 discharges. Fish here are very current-oriented weird but it is...
