No. Terrible as Franco's regime was - and it was! - one only needs to look to Eastern Europe, or North Korea, or USSR, etc, to realize what a "republican" victory would have meant. There were no good sides in the civil war. But the way it ended meant that Spain is definitely in a better place than it would have been had the communists won.
