They changed that in the Quarry. The game can end at Chapter 9. I was surprised.

I made everyone live in Until Dawn but then tried again with getting everyone killed to see what their deaths would be like, and I was getting worried if I could even kill Sam or Mike, not knowing they had plot armour the whole game 😂, and then Mike got the "cool" death by blowing himself up 💀

@Lost Civilization he didn't shoot her a minute before, it was a flashback where he was given an ultimatum between himself or her. I wouldn't be mad at someone trying to save their own skin for that, yes it would be scary and stuff but after the fact you just understand the person was scared too. Ashley is canonically the most selfish character in the game, yes more selfish than Emily. I really don't like her tbh

All the heads having their eyes look around and mouths gape is both creepy and something that can actually happen. The brain doesn't lose consciousness due to lack of oxygen for 30 seconds to a minute after a decapitation. Imagine your point of view rolling around on the ground, seeing your headless body and then passing out after trying to scream without any breath or vocal cords to do so with.
7:38 - 8:04 this death has always freaked stuck with me the most, seeing Chris still moving after being decapitated always gives me goosebumps
Not so fun fact: humans after being decapitated stay alive for 10 seconds max that's why he looks around and that's why he blinks

Matt has for sure the most varied deaths. And 20:07 is by far the most brutal in the entire game!
I think Emily has the most varied deaths. Shot in the head, killed by Wendigo, get killed in the crusher, and burned in the house

I’ve never rooted so hard for a character as I did with Jess Sam and Emily
I also love the ways in which the characters die reflect in Hannah’s feelings toward them. Characters like Mike, Chris, Josh, and Sam got killed relatively quick because they either didn’t take part in the prank, or she had strong feelings for them. Meanwhile, the rest of the cast that DID participate in the prank got the most brutal deaths, and Hannah seemed to enjoy herself the most with these ones.
My least favorite injuries are eye injuries or anything that involves boiling liquids. ANYTHING else I'm completely fine with but just those two really make my skin crawl

Don’t worry, there’s no good endings for josh. One outcome is getting his head crushed, and two getting dragged away and becoming a wendigo himself.
i wish we could've saved him 😭 but knowing the alternative i guess he's better dead..

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames pretty sure it's because they eat the heads 🤔, too bad they didn't show the secret ending with Josh if he reconize his sister must be because he didn't die but the result is..something who made me feel uncomfortable 😖, also i'm pretty sure they forgot one for Emily 🤔, one were she's with Matt and she's about to fall and he either have the choice to catch her hand and save her or purposely let go of her hand and let her fall to her death because he remember what happen in the beginning with Mike

I just remember my first playthrough back in 2015 and thinking the deaths were some of the most brutal. They still are 8 years later tbh. The ones where they have their eyes gouged out, where Matt has his face smashed in, and Jessica having her jaw ripped off are probably the worst one. Now i feel like playing Until Dawn haha. Will have to watch your playthrough of it since i missed the streams
Yeah the deaths were super brutal. Guess it’s been too long since we’ve seen Mortal Kombat fatalities because we both looked away at times 🙈😱
Matt has some of the worst deaths. The hook always got to me 😬
What's crazy is that the eye gouging death is probably the fastest and least painful one out of the bunch

*SPOILERS*
Matt:
1-Saves Emily the second time without the flare gun(this is the only choice that matters) (Gets hung by a hook)
2-Saves Emily the second time but has the flare gun but misses the QTE to shoot the Wendigo(Gets hung by a hook)
3- Does nothing when given the option to hide or run when in the mines in chapter ten(Gets face smashed in)
4-Hides but fails the don't move(Gets face smashed in)
5-Hides *WITH JESSICA* succeeds the don't move but fails the QTE after(Gets face smashed in)
6-Chooses to do nothing when given the option to Break through planks and hide/Hide together or Run/Abandon Jessica(Gets face smashed in)
7-Breaks through planks and hides/Hides with Jessica but fails don't move(Gets face smashed in)
8-Runs/Abandons Jessica and fails QTE(Gets face smashed in)
Emily:
1-Does nothing in elevator when prompted to move the lever(Eyes gouged in)
2-Misses the first 2 QTEs in the second floor of the mines(Eyes gouged in)
3-Chooses to stay on the conveyor and then fails the following 2 QTEs(Legs get crushed)
4-Doesn't have flare gun(or does but misses) and gets bitten. Mike will be given the option to shoot Emily(If he does her eye will be gouged)
5-Sam doesn't do anything when given the option to save Emily(The only way to get this is to not save Mike or fail the first don't move in chapter ten as Sam(Eyes gouged in))
6- Sam runs to switch before she gets out
7-Sam runs to switch before she gets out
8- Sam runs to switch before she gets out
Death 7 and 8 assume that Emily is the last person out before mike and sam.
Jessica:
1-Mike failed too many QTEs in chapter four(Jaw gnawed off)
2-Matt/Jessica does nothing when given the option to Hide or Run/Try to Run(Jaw ripped off)
3-Jessica/Matt and Jessica hide but fails the don't move(Jaw ripped off)

Yes, that was maybe our best choice in the game. Bummer that Matt gets punished for trying to save Emily. Wish we could’ve kept him alive longer 🤗
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames I haven’t finished your playthrough, but if you find the flare gun and he doesn’t shoot it, then he can use it as protection from the wendigo if you choose to save Emily. He shoots it automatically if you agree with Emily’s plan for the tower. Otherwise, you get to choose to do it or not. I saw so many playthroughs back in the day that it all just comes back to you.
I don’t know if you guys were explore heavy or not. But that definitely helps.

My first playthrough i managed to keep everyone alive but i messed up with Ashley and i opened the dang trap door. I just reloaded the save and saved Ashley. Everyone survived. Lol

Fair point. But the cabin is kind of like their bunker and safe space. What if Chris got a hold of the loaded gun from Mike and then shot Emily? He’s shown he cares about saving himself (in this scenario). Even if Ashley says shoot me and save yourself, she probably says that because it’s what your supposed to say and if you tell someone to shoot themselves they are probably more likely to shoot you 😜
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yeah, I can definitely see both sides. Especially, with the what if they weren’t blanks. It’s just something that I used to linger on . Most of the characters have it in them to sacrifice another. Mike, Sam, Ashley, Chris, Emily (If Ashley reveals the bite does nothing, I believe) (She can shove her while they’re running away, but she won’t die)
And I guess Matt can sacrifice a deer.

Mike was the real mvp during his third death. When he’s downed and Sam is killed he willingly sacrificed himself to kill the monsters. I like how he starts off really douche-y and then becomes one of the most heroic of the bunch.
You kinda did, they re-use the deaths for each model, cause killing folks is expensive. So aside from the ones that didn't die, voila. P sure some of these are also edited.
We didn’t see too many of the brutal deaths. Definitely not the eye gouging one. Emily at least got the most unique death as no one else got the chipper 😛

I think the reason for some death in this game being so brutal.
The antagonist/ Hannah monster form still remember the prank that lead to her and Beth demise so that why those deaths are the way they are.

The reason Ashley refused to open the door was basically an act of revenge since Chris "Shot" her - the bullets was blanks, they werent lethal, but because they were tied to chairs and was under a saw blade that'd kill them both, Chris was under pressure, and on a time limit, Chris had to make a choice where it was out of morale or not
But after all that, it turned out it was just a cruel prank done by Josh
So basically Ashley held a severe grudge to the point where she had no issue with seeing Chris get massacred
In other words, if you like Ashley before that moment, you'll hate her guts after
I still wonder how the game would have turned out if they had stuck to their original idea for the PS3.

Well this is the way to start off the new year! I'm still waiting on Until Dawn to be on PC! 😭
6:33 this is why I think Ashley is the worst character. People like to hate on Emily because she's the obvious b****, but it's her idea to go to the radio tower for help so she did contribute to the group's rescue. Ashley has no courage or loyalty. She is the one that wants to abandon Sam when she gets captured, it's only because of Chris' encouragement that they continued going in. When they find out Emily got bitten, she and Mike did a total 180 and flipped on her, exiling and even willing to shoot her.
Later after reading the notebook, she finds out that getting bitten doesn't turn someone into a Wendigo. **Ashley has the option to withhold that information**. Last point, Ashley chooses to let Chris die. The guy she's had a crush on for years. It's true what he did would make anyone hate him, but willingly watching as he screams for help, watching his head get torn apart from the rest of the body, that's some sociopath sh**.
It's annoying that almost every playthrough I watch people just jump onto the Emily hatewagon. She does suck but at least she's direct about it. Most people don't consider how conniving Ashley can be.
Thank you for not just blaming and hating on Ash for the Chris death scene. Most people who hate on Ash cite that scene and I'm just like... its pretty understandable WHY she didn't let him in right away. Like yeah, the guy you've had a crush on for ages aims a gun at you and pulls the trigger, yeah, thats going to cause some hesitation to want to help him afterwards. He demonstrated that in a survival situation, he'll kill her to save himself. She was betrayed and he literally attempted to kill her. They didn't know the gun was just shooting blanks until after that shot fired. Especially when it only happened like 1-2 hours before. Since you gave kudos to her actress, she was played by Galadriel Stineman.
There's more eye-related killings than I realized... I can handle pretty much anything in a horror movie. Except things involving the eyes. Honestly, anything involving eyes is a no for me including eye doctor visits, eye drops, god forbid contact lenses. I can't watch girls do eye makeup or anything either. When I go to the eye doctor, I legit have to ask them to strap / hold me down for their own protection because I'll fight like a wounded animal if anything gets near my eyes. Case in point, my first visit to one when I was 5, my father had to apologize profusely to the doctor because I kicked him in the face. Luckily I didn't break his nose or anything. My younger brother once tried to do that sneak up on me and cover my eyes "guess who" thing and he ended up getting smacked out of reflex.

It’s totally understandable Ashley’s reaction. Although we feel like we still would’ve let the person in even after everything because it’s probably more common for people to save themselves in that situation. Though we are glad we chose correct in that situation 🤗

Im pretty sure this isnt every death. Just most of em; though to be fair most of them are repeats but like, you failed the qte after.
This game has so much gory ways of ending characters that it seems very hard to look away from hearing screams or bone crunching 🫣 But I got to ask which do better between Until Dawn Universe or Quarry universe?
I was going to say Until Dawn, but The Quarry had a few face squashes between Ryan, Constance, and Jedediah.
