Hey I’m back I took long break going full sail now messed up and bought mpc xse o the way ima need your help. I was late to your video about it and bought before I saw 🤦🏿♂️ I sold my mpc x 2 years so getting back into music and replaced with mpc xse
I also like to zoom right into the WAV Files and can also edit them bit by bit if I want but what's interesting is that even just tini change can ruin a sound because it's not natural. Those little imperfections and blips in the wave are evidence of it being from a Analog source and cant or is very difficult to edit digital audio sources to have that style of imperfection that effects the sound in a positive way.

At least the way I see it as long as any other music production center can replicate the sound of a other sounddesigner ( EASski - drums in this case ) the converters need to be capable, right? Please share thoughts on this. Because I was always amazed with the quality by my Live2 when it came to sampling lets say a SP1200 or any other MPC ( mostly 3k ). In my opinion this converter talk should come after we've talked about the downfall of Sounddesign and sampling overall. People became so lazy using this great new gen MPCs to the fullest. I mean after like 5 years im still amazed by its possibilities and still finding features and workarounds that improve my workflow.
So This year I am about $1200 on snakes, patch cables and TRS/TS cables and adaptors , speaker wires, microphone wires, etc. When you can do strive to get the best you can afford to not have to buy again. And effort to take care of it, too. Nothing is worst than troubleshooting to find it comes down to a wonky cable. Peace.

Polo some people have had problems with occasional random popping noises coming from tracking out to the Soundcraft. Have you noticed any problems with yours in this way?

Look into the Isla S2400. It's sounds damn close to the original (I honestly couldn't tell the difference), plus it has some nice quality of life upgrades if you don't mind slightly more menu diving than the original.

I know you know sound because I'm 61 and I have to know who I can trust before i purchase equipment. Tell the people that the Akai gear was never meant to sound good. it was for practice at home. An accompaniment tool is what we use to call it. Thats why the 12 bit. They were available to us kids who wanted to make Hip Hop and House at the right price point. Used or otherwise. I know you understand that last point. because you own a Pizza business. The 12 bit analog sound is a formula that was introduce into mainstream because the producers were ill and had there ear to the streets. Any time you plugged in a Technic 1200 into an Akai or SP machine it was a sexy ass marriage that still lives on. The new gear is better than the old gear no question with easier work flow more sampling time. And that's what we all wanted more sampling time. we didn't give a fuck about the sound we would figure it out by layering etc. Thanks and stay up. Much love to the Fam Homeboy.
That's not why they were 12bit, the 12bit was due to tech limitations at the time. And they were not for home practice either, they cost the equivalent of $13k back in the day, not to mention your average job paid less.. it was a huge chunk of a standard salary. They were for midi production, they had their samplers, but the main design was around sequencing other bits of gear, synths, modules etc, with the sampling to go with. They were very much professional tools for serious studio work and production. A LOT of the early hiphop records were programmed by the engineers or studio owners, out of the records kids would bring to the session, because they needed to reach the studio to use one.

Enter the drum machine. You could lay down your drum tract and practice until you got with your group. Akai cost more maybe than Roland but less than the SP. Back Ida day 2 Technic turntables was $1,300 or around the same price as an Akai S950. Small potatoes if you really wanted to make music.
