    How about a 2 year checkup? Bag still working for you?
    Great video. Thanks.

    Hey dude, thanks for the video, I have a GR2 and I’ve been looking for another persons thoughts and ideas on how they like to pack theirs because as we all travel, we’re always looking for ways to be more efficient
    Really nice tip on softening the bags up using water and a shower, I’d have never thought of that, that’s probably the best tip I’ve heard for anything all year haha

    Is this not difficult to remove laptop at airport security?

      @thejustinmurphy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Harish Chouhan nah, it’s quite easy. I’m very quick through security.

    Been pretty obsessed with bags lately for some reason. From what I've seen this seems to be a solid choice. But buying it here in Europe does not appear to be that easy. Probably just as well, as I probably would get it otherwise and I don't really need another bag.

    That's the bag I've been looking at for minimalist packing. I know it's pricy but it's an investment. I currently use the GR1 21L as my everyday work bag. How do you like the 34L? Do you feel it's enough for everything you want to travel with? How is it holding up during your trip? Awesome vid and have an epic time in Thailand.
    Cheers!

      Love it so far! It's certainly enough for me, i've gotten much better at packing it and it's broken in very well. I'll probably make a video at the end of my 2 months here. Thanks! :)

    What about toiletries and any basic first aid kit?

    Have you considered the padded hip belt? Do feel it’s a needed accessory?

    • @thejustinmurphy
      @thejustinmurphy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it's necessary, I try not to pack that heavy for urban travel.

    Did you feel like the 34L is fine compared to the 40L for traveling long term?

    • @thejustinmurphy
      @thejustinmurphy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Li I’ve learned you’ll fill pretty much any bag you bring so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Only issue I had was taking home souvenirs and such for family. I actually sent most of them back with a friend who visited lol.

      Thats very true haha, just worried about space for clothes and all my electronics... Thanks though for the video!

    • @thejustinmurphy
      @thejustinmurphy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      for sure! electronics definitely take up the most space, I cut my whole wardrobe way down after this trip.

    Can you explain why you don't like the back pocket for your laptop? Is it because it gets bendy with the pack fully loaded?

    • @thejustinmurphy
      @thejustinmurphy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glass Hammer Games yeah, it doesn’t provide much protection either and it’s rough fabric.

      @CO-kd6sd 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Murph There’s really nothing wrong with the laptop compartment. The fabric doesn’t mark or damage laptops and it actually protects it pretty well. Check out the GR forums if you want some reassurance.

      Co Co my thoughts exactly. I have a GR1 as my everyday backpack. I have my MacBook Pro in the laptop compartment and it works just fine.

      Nothing wrong with the back pocket, very well built, my daily is the discontinued Radio Ruck and the GR2 has the added benefit of the rigid plate. You are wasting space in the main compartment when the product engineer(s) built that compartment to do the very thing you say it isn't good at.

    nice video! Well spoken and very informative. I travelled with a Synapse 25 but I really missed the possibility to open it flat. Also it looked pretty stuffed when full.

    • @thejustinmurphy
      @thejustinmurphy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PunktBlah Thanks! I’m still working out the setup but the entire back section is emptied when I get to my destination so it’s pretty light after that, no longer stuffed. Just did over 15 miles of walking today with it, barely even felt it which is super nice.

    Hello ! How heavy is it with this load up by the way ?

    • @thejustinmurphy
      @thejustinmurphy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Davidson Chua about 12kg according to the Qatar airways scale :) “heavy” by airline standards, but I trekked it around all day long no issues.

    • @davidsonchua6968
      @davidsonchua6968 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Murph hi , thank you ! Great ! Im traveling for 12 days and my carry on is limited to 7kg. And with the GR2 weighing kind of heavy empty, contemplating whether possible to have it as my one bag travel pack.

    • @thejustinmurphy
      @thejustinmurphy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bag is small enough you can talk your way past that (I have twice), load up some electronics and be an ass if you have to, they'll let you take it on.
