Fisker PEAR Self-disappearing Houdini Door

Fisker says that every vehicle it makes must have at least a few unique features, and one of PEAR’s highlights is its unique Houdini door also called as Houdini Trunk.
This is the company’s name for its rear hatch which vanishes into the car body, leaving a big opening that won’t swing out and hit anything or cause you to bonk your head on it.

As a collision repair tech, I can tell you that any damage to the rear end, even just the bumper cover, is going to be quite expensive to repair. The idea is good in theory, not so much in execution.

@@electrictonde I would assume the mechanical and electrical operation is very intricate and a minor fender bender could result in a couple thousand dollar repair bill.
