It looks great, Forrest! I'm glad you're enjoying the improvement that the treatments made in your room. It sounded really bad on the before clips. George did a terrific job of getting you covered.
I never knew the importance of sound treatment until I did it. The sound felt closer to me like it was directly in front of my face, improved direction and separation. The volume didn't need to be high anymore and dialog was clearer. Night and day difference.
Gik is great to work with, they helped with my theater, everyone defintely should take advantage of their services and products. They are very well priced for high quality panels.
Well done gentlemen. Installing the right room treatments make a huge difference in sound and can make your speakers come alive. I have an open concept living room that opens to the kitchen and front entry way. I got some GIK panels it wasn't an easy task because I had to convince my wife first. She finally agreed and I ordered and installed absorption panel on the front wall behind the LCRs and ordered and installed absorption/diffusion panels at the first and second reflection points. This move has made a huge difference. My system sounds big, dialog is clear, and the dynamic range is wide. I'm glad I invested in the GIK Acoustic panels. Highly recommend.
6:54 I got the same issue with not enough room between my ceiling and my screen. So i used short metal hooks for this situation. Mounted them on the inside, so nothing is visible. They are just simpel screws with a hole and the other ones have hooks to connect them. Cheap too. It helped a bit but i am stil waiting to get my carpet in and to get the final touch done. As if we are ever done with our rooms 🤣🤣🤣
With a dedicated room like that and the desire to get the best sound you really must buy a usb microphone and measure the room using REW. Otherwise it’s just guesswork. It can look daunting but you’d be amazed how quickly you get your head around it. Once you start measuring you really begin to understand, not only what your room is doing , but what the equipment is doing. That’s when you can tease the best performance out of what you have. Crossovers, subwoofer positioning and eq. Cheers
It’s not the sexiest update like speakers or projector, but it sure makes one hell of a difference! Gik was great to work with, even on modest orders and breaking down into phases.
Looks great! From what research I've done it actually pretty easy + cheap to make the absorption panels yourself. Which would be one way to save some money. I guess you could also go with some interesting designs like movie posters to add some interest. Great video.
@@anktry203 I honestly haven't bookmarked anything quite yet on it, as I am very far out for doing my own theater. But there are a ton of videos out there with some searching.
Looks great 👍What a difference in the overall look and feel to your home theater. I'd love to do a full room treatment similar to this. Do you have a cost breakdown for this kind of setup.
Every room is different. GIK Acoustics will do a free analysis of your room to give you some recommendations. The range is anywhere from a few hundred to into the thousands, depending what you want to do.
Not with the appropriate treatment strategy, and not only considering thin panels and diffusers, but focus on bass trapping. We offer free, tailored advice on your room, so feel free to reach out and fill the form on our website!
When I experimented by placing a thick blanket on my rear wall, I might have gotten rid of the rear reflections. However, I seem to have lost some of the depth within my two channel soundstage, too. Managed to kill two birds with one stone by replacing the thick blanket with a g i k 50/50 diffusion/absorption panel (the impression series, I think) The funny thing is at frist I actually didn't like the way the room sounded with the acoustic panel. It took about 2 weeks before I started to realise the true benefits. Confirmation came after trying to take it down 😮 Conclusion; Giving it a couple of weeks before making a judgement. 1. Position of stereo speakers. Got to get them away from the walls to experience a full-on 2-channel soundstage 2. Placement of the MLP. For one to experience the best bass, one has to get the couch off the back wall. 3. Room treatment. To bring it all home Good luck. An avid listener
Thanks, an informative video on a subject that should be a huge part in every cinema or HiFi environment from the early beginning. It is still mind blowing, in 2024, that acoustical treatment is not a part of the investment. But, I guess it is the same stupidity for people that totally rely on Audyssey (automatic room correction). I have never heard a good setup coming from an activated Audyssey... This feature totally destroys the natural timbre and turns the rig beyond unnatural, hard and unpleasant to experience. Test for your self and thank me later. A good setup does not need Audyssey. Sorry for my harsh words. I love the content, but needed to get this out of my egg-brain... Cheers!
Congratulations on the new panels. It's like getting a speakers upgrade.

Well done, gentlemen. So few people really understand this concept.
Love the treatment, could you outline the color pattern for the absorbers and diffusers?

Nice! Treating a living room is a challenge when it comes to the wife approval factor. Sounds like you did well.
Sound treatment really seems to make a huge difference
I enjoy watching the video clip to me it would make a great difference in watching movies 🎬 you did great job putting them up .
Thanks guys! 🤟
Looks like you guys do some good work. I'll have to take a look.

any good resources you can share that show you how to build your own panels?

I just ordered acoustic panels for the ceiling, and bass traps. I have 4 subs, but, only 3 are in a corner.
11:26 that clap test is pretty wild
I hoped it would come thru in the audio of the video. Boy did it!!
Did you measure RT60 decay times and waterfall before and after?

This particular setup would cost about $1,500, plus taxes and shipping.
@@GeorgeTheaterAtHome WoW! That's Great value 🤩👍 Thanks
I would like to know the sizing of the panels to give an idea of sizing for my room
They are available in many different sizes. 2’ x 4’, 2’ x 3’, 2’ x 2’, 1’ x 4’ etc. lots of different options.
Is it possible to over-deaden a room?

Paint the hangers to match ceiling cover. QED
Acoustic treatment is great, even one step at a time. Mine is super cheap, rather ugly, but very helpful.
Next, run Magic Beans Audio.
This 💯💯💯💯. I love my Gik absorbers, diffuser’s and bass traps but Magic Beans brought my system to a new level.

Must have done sound treatment to ward off the yelling kids.
I hung mine. You just need a pack of "s" hooks and eylet screws into the ceiling
