Lived there for like 10 months, waiting for on post housing.I remember Monte Mart.Lived on Playa,or in the Playa apartments.I worked at Kentucky Fried chicken in Sea Side.Seems it has been upgraded somewhat since the 80s.
Thanks for the nice drive through video. Being a Seaside Native who left 7 years ago for a better life. Watching this has brought back so many memories. Good , Bad and in between ') it's refreshing to see a simple video that has nothing to do with the underbelly (Street/Gang life) of the area.
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the drive. I hope the video was able to evoke positive emotions and remind you of the beauty of your seaside hometown. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Seaside has slowly been gentrified. I cant place a percentage on how many natives left but a lot have relocated To Las Vegas, Sacramento's "Little seaside" Phoenix and Fresno. Back in the day you had the huge PJ's (PROJECTS - LOW INCOME) Which is located next to the senior living facility. Why develop low income living next to a senior living blows my mind! As everything old gets a remake its now is called something else and very cleaned up. it was the hot spot for Crip members. Seaside was more of the Hustler side then gangs but had crips of all races and some bloods but nothing like Salinas or LA where most were from. ohh! Let's not leave out pretty Monterey from the crime scene lol Money Talks! Now will all the street life residents you have the hardworking class who raised families the traditional way under 2 parent households if not they made it work.
Thank you. Hard to imagine gangs formulating in that area. It's idyllic and offset. Would think to boring for them. I do find it hard to believe natives moving away from such a mild climate to areas that are now boiling hot! I'd do anything to stay in Seaside than to go to any of those places.
Like David Bowie said Ch Ch Changes. Everything in life has to change. We couldn't imagine Seaside without the fort Ord military base before it closed but' it worked out in the end. There was a documentary done about the town, but its subject was more street(C-Side - short for Crip) life then the hard working class. With all the good the history of the location there was a bad. Perfect place to do ghost haunting since most homes are haunted;) More like the Hauntedside lol. Here is a bit of History . For Ord was native land before the land was taken and turned into a base . Through the taken of the land, Natives/Indian placed a curse through out the locations of SeaSide/Fort Ord and Marina, Note there is always long long number of foggy days that will bring the most mentally strong person down after a while of no Sun, but the sun always shines in Salinas and beyond location;) It's seems time slows down once driving into Marina and faster once out.

I really like seaside, especially during summer since it looks nicer. Me and my family usually go to the sand city shopping center and it’s cool
Hey Emanuel, thanks for stopping by. I love going to the beach at Sand City too. If you see a big truck stop by, that might be me😅

There's gangs in Seaside? I thought they were all in Salinas.
