Depends where you are as a player. If you want a guitar with some kind of tune o matic bridge, you don't really need to spend a lot of money on a guitar. I have some decent priced instruments, and right now, my go-to guitar is an epiphone dot. It's the most dependable guitar I have and sounds great (I oiled the nut and saddles and set it up well). Depending on your demands as a player or if you want a reliable tremolo system, you then consider spending more. Quality control and detail is another thing too.

My first guitar was epiphone Les Paul in 2017. You can’t argue how well made these modern epiphones are. It played great and sounded great. It motivated me to play a lot more and eventually led me to my Gibson 335 and 59 Les Paul reissue.

Got it early 2017 and it came with my Rocksmith Cable that I still have and use. It's been loyal to me for a while and it's take quite the beating from my old chaotic household. These cheap guitars are awesome for learning maintenance, hot rodding, etc. I'm in the process of overhauling one of the cheapo maestro by Gibson starter guitars (a flat top les paul shape). It's quite a bit rougher than this explorer starter guitar (at least that's how I received it from a friend). I did a killer military themed ultra flat olive paint job with orange and white stenciling (best guitar paint job I've done). I also switched out the single humbucker for another cheap rail humbucker (mostly for the look) and switched out the pots for a single on/off toggle switch for fun... hahahaha. The set up is another story. I bought one of the adjustable wrap around bridges, because it came with a pre 1954 style wrap around bridge. That way I can adjust intonation. When I get time, I'm going to switch out the bridge, start adjusting the truss rod, etc. I hope I can get it playing well.

I really wish when i started learning guitar like 17yrs ago there were starter packs this decent at that price. I was really surprised by how well it seems to play, and sounding decent even with the 9v practice amp.

Uppgrade the nut and tuners (and maybe the pickup) on almost any beginner guitar from the last couple of years and it will last you forever! Just don't expect it to hold up to your main axe and you're all good

I would have loved it if you to the 9V amp, mic'd it up, and actually tried your best to get it to sound nice in a mix and then compare that with a mix with the AXE-FX III. To show that money isn't everything and if you're creative enough, you can achieve GREAT results with the cheapest of gear by using software, plugins, and a little EQ!

I paid about the same for my Silvertone pack. It's a damn good guitar built by Samick. So good, in fact, that I bought a 2nd, different model for $24 on auction. So now I have one to keep SSS and compare against my modded guitar(s) and one to modify. I would've just modified my 1st guitar but it uses a Silvertone specific pickguard that's NLA. So instead of ruining the 1 pg I had and being unable to ever go back to SSS, I just bought a 2nd guitar to mod.

I've only ever bought guitars from AMS and I probably always will, in no small part because of their super reasonable payment plans on stuff I probably never would have gotten otherwise. Cannot recommend them enough. (Not sponsored by AMS but totally should be if anyone's reading this.)

My first guitar was the Lyx Pro Starter pack, I got it “refurbished” (idk if that’s really something you do with guitars but whatever) instead of brand new on Amazon and got the whole kit for $80, and it’s actually really nice.
