I used to get paid a base amount for my route of 30 dollars drive time getting to and returning from my route. I was paid 1.25 per stop and .25 per package. I was giving an 800 monthly bonus for 98.7 percent on time delivery. So for example, an average Walmart stop would be 1.25 for the stop and average 40 packages so 10.00- an 11.25 dollar stop. Residential, you would make money on the number of stops per hour. I would start at 7:00 Am and be back at the barn by 5:30 unless I had a late pickup or a signature required package I had to get off the truck that day. My checks were 1200-1500 per week. During peak, I had a helper and would make 1700-2000 per week. I would work 14 hour days, but the route was easier because I had the helper running packages to to door. UPS pays well but those folks earn every penny of it. Their delivery drivers probably do twice as many stops per day as a FedEx Express driver but only get paid 25% more per hour. I would personally prefer to take my time and chill on my route and max out the OT hours than run like a bat out of hell. And don't forget the motto of UPS managers -- "How can I fire a driver today?" The hatred between UPS management and their workers is palpable. Don't get me wrong-- I like UPS. Their hard work and top pay lifts all wages of delivery drivers in general. Next time you see a UPS box car driver at a truck stop, buy him a sody-pop. He's helping all of us in the transportation industry.
Hey that ain't too bad if they space you out in the country where stops are like a half mile to two miles apart. Thing is with Amazon they do that shit and still expect you to do 140 stops. Then they watch you like a hawk, they fire your ass if you drive over the speed limit. People in whatever headquarters in Seattle that plan the routes need to ride with the drivers to get an idea of the bullshit we put up with.
Oh shiit.... that's crazy insane. I feel bad for fedex drivers, I work for the brown company and work 5 days, 50hrs. All I can say is fedex drivers are getting way underpaid for what they do...
@@wywyb88 shiiiit, I'm gonna apply with UPS then, FedEx did me dirty , they gave me 190 stops on my second week and mostly were businesses and all were uptown . I got home at 10 pm that night, I quit the next day lol
I will say this. Peak season, (around just after Thanksgiving thru first or second week in January), is the best time for pay for a FedEx Contracted Delivery Driver, but it also contains the most work, so there is some give and take there.
I have been to 2 days training It is 150 per day. Should I expect to get screwed with a lot of hours causing me to make 10 to 15 an hour? I can make $20 an hour any place here If I want to work in a factory or prison But I won’t lower my pay as figured hourly under 18 for sure. So let me know if I should already be looking elsewhere
Between my regular pay (salary), stop bonus and Sunday bonus I earned $4,794 working 6 days per week for the month of December. P.S., we do the exact same thing. We compare well.
@@ddennis2430 all depends on who you work for, salary & what kind of bonuses they offer. I typically earn 4k per month before taxes on a decent bonus month.
@@Marco-jm1mo not much Capitol, not anything crazy to where you need to take out loan. Buy a used van/truck and start working for these large companies. Risk is relative, the industry he’s in is damn near recession proof. People are ALWAYS buying stuff to be delivered. Granted it’s easier said than done but start thinking for yourself and stop working for somebody! Life is too short
I’m a UPS driver, I make roughly 1100 per week after taxes working about 53 hours a week. My route is anywhere between 120-150 stops per day and about 190-240 pieces. My route is pretty chill by about 3 I’m almost done and that’s when pickups start. Next year I’m hitting top pay which for us is 41 dollars an hour. It’s a great paying job with benefits and I get to work outside all day, rainy days suck but hey, that just means more overtime lol there is no rivalry with fedex as far as I’m concerned I talk to every delivery person on my route everyday and we help each other out by opening the door or giving apartment codes to the other drivers. It’s a hard job but it lets you live comfortably without a college degree
I’m not counting anybody’s money but my own. But why in the world would you work in the exact same industry as UPS and accept that pay? Right now a UPS driver at 4 years of driving is making $39.74 an hour. We get OT ($60/hr) for anything over 8 in a day, or working on Saturdays. We get free medical, dental, prescription and vision, two weeks vacation and 10 personal days. You’re also provided Union protection. We pay $99 a month in union dues. I make more than your highest grossing week in 3 days of work (Avg 10 hour day). And that’s just January -October, not peak season. why would you choose this career making less than half of what the competition makes to do the exact same thing?
Watching your videos makes me feel less nervous!! Lol I’m starting this Monday as a Delivery helper then I’ll be driving my own truck after I train for one week!🙏🏻 I hope it goes well!!
I've worked for different contractors in the last 3 years. I've never taken that offer of being paid per stop. It's a sick rip off. Being a driver for his long is easy to negotiate with your contractor. Even if you're new. There's actually 3 ways to get paid. Hourly, per stop or salary. (Week salary) I get 925 a week. And I do less that 110 stops a day. This peak highest I went was 130 -140. Never work for a contractor who owns nothing but residential routes. Those are the worst to work for. They'll rape you with a whole bunch of stops and will pay you per stop. Always go with someone who owns both Ground and Home Delivery. Trust.
It also depends on the contractor on how they pay you. My guarantee a week is $1285/weekly, Doubles $250, and sixth day is daily rate. Plus my contractor pays for my health insurance and I also get 401k.
Bro that’s crazy! Find another contractor… most them get paid 700 for that route your driving. They can afford to pay the drivers a lil more especially since we don’t get benefits. Couple my friends have started in ups warehouse cuz those drivers make 100k a year compared to us making 50-60k
I’m not sure if it’s every company, but at Amazon my employer pays with incentives aswell, instead of working 3 hours and getting payed only 3 hours, you get paid as if you worked a whole 8 hours, I always thought they all did this, I mean it makes sense because it wouldn’t be fair for the faster and hardworking people to get paid less while the slow and lazy get paid more.
I do a bulk route and get paid 2.10 per stop and .13 per box. Granted I have a lot less stops. But a lot more boxes compared to you’re smaller truck. All my stops are dock stops. I may get 30 to 40 stops, and a stop is also counted for a pickup. Regardless if it’s the same place or not. But the amount of boxes is where my money depends Edited, yes I get a bonus of 300$ a month if I get all of my pickups within the time frame and make all deliveries
I deliver for FedEx ground. I finish my route In less than 6 hours. I've finished in less than 4 hours a few times and I get payed a minimum of 200 per day, and 1 dollar per stop after 140 stops
Get a CDL and a local Fed Ex job and you make that in 10hrs a day with probably 20 - 30 stops a day. I worked for another company and made that in 8 stops a day( a lot of driving) . We make that as net after taxes.
that's good money for a van driver...i'm a linehaul driver for Fedex Ground pulling doubles...the money can be good depending on your contractor. also to drive semis for fedex ground you have to have your CDL-A, doubles endorsement, and a year of experience. and yes fedex ground is all about which contractor you work for. some pay better than others. worked 50-55 hours a week, 6 days a week. when i say i "worked" 50-55 hours, about 10 hours a week of that is spent sleeping in my truck waiting to get loaded at the terminal. so if you don't count that, 40-45 hours a week. last year i grossed $70k, which, for where i live, is a very comfortable wage.
Nice video and thanks for sharing your story. I think you should try to look for fedex express, since they get higher paid and no more contractor. Good luck and drive safe on the road.
I've been working for Fedex Ground as a Driver for almost 5 Years now. Done every route in my terminal and only saw 1 "One" Contractor who offered Hourly Pay. If your reading this and thinking about being a Driver, anything less than $170 a day and your being scammed. Heck, I'd say anything less than $200 when the amount of work/Pay is compared to that of Express and UPS.
im 41and just started working at fedex as a Is package handler for $16 a hour part time, i just needed something to pay my house taxes and its not that bad so far.
Do you also get paid for the hours that you work before starting your actual route? Like when you come in to organize your truck, I just got hired and am coming in at 7:30am to fix my truck but don’t dispatch until about 9:00am so trying to see if I’ll still get paid for the time I come in earlier to get everything organized
Yeah that's true, but we also do rescues and they group our stops together when they're in close proximity so we really end up doing a lot. At least the more efficient workers do
Amazon is modern day slavery..... warehouse, even driving your own car for them is shit. They are also putting cameras in their trucks and they are going to be recording you if there is any sudden movements like braking to hard, accelerating too fast, hard turns and other shit like that. They want to spy on their drivers now
@@leadnsteel1428 honestly fuck them i was told to get through Christmas and package count/stops would go back down to normal but they stayed the same i have to deliver through my breaks just to finish on time
I'd much rather get paid by the hour. I've done other route jobs like pest control and lawn care. And if you get by by the stop, your losing money. Sometimes your route gets spread out and it takes almost 20-30 minutes to get to your next stop. I have no idea how FedEx and UPS are but there were definitely times when my lawncare route was very spread out and I was just losing money.

Lots of people in the comments saying UPS is better just because of pay. Too bad their shitty customer service makes them to be the worst right next to USPS.

Go directly to the contractors! Just ask if they have openings. It’s like a family business and if they see that you work hard and well, you might have an in!
You need a year of commercial driving within the last three years, and nothing on your license within that period. Uber, doordash, etc etc. If you don't got that, your best bet is go for a switcher position, that counts as well.
I get pay salary. Same every month but I have a lot less stop stop you. 40-90 stops per day but I have packages up to 600 including pickups. Also get all benefits.
ROFL. In europe (dhl, ups, etc etc) 80% tours are owned by contracters and you got cca 80$ a day after taxes, that is you fix paycheck and there is no stop bonus, 80$ a day if you do 20 or 300 stops.
If u don’t mind me asking? The Fed Ex vehicle. When u are driving on the parking lot. Does the sound of your vehicle makes it sounds or look like you are speeding? Because I work at a grocery store. Yeah and here I am. After four years of university and working in the public administration of one of our municipalities making "only" $ 3 500 a month. Also I pay one of the world highest taxes with 33% off so I have more like 2 000 when that is payed off. Man American companies pay good unless it's minimum wage laborers.
Contractor usually means all straight time no overtime pays the same whether it's takes 7 hours or 14 hours it all pays the same with no pension or health insurance . And that's the important part. Appreciate the videos Laos House! I’m starting FedEx this Tuesday and you’ve given some great insight on what I can expect!
good luck man!
Do you like it!?
Amazon pays hourly I’m getting 16$ so 160 a day for 4 days 10 hrs shift ! Is usually only work 5-6 hrs tho but still get paid 10hrs ! So I’m not sure which is better by stops or hourly ! I get about 170 stops a day but some days I’ll get 120 130
I would say if you get 150+ everyday then stops is always better
Damn, I get paid $15/hr same shifts, and we be working like 6-7 of those hours but we only get paid 2.5 hours + if we finish before the 10th hour which sucks! Your guaranteed 10 even if you finish early, we ain’t.
@@JesseD123 yea it all depends on companies/dsps bruh ! I’m just lucky my dsp like that ! U should look into switching dsps and go to one that pays whole days even if you don’t work the whole shifts !
@@JesseD123 huh
That's fucking horrible
Excellent breakdown bro. My current dsp we get hourly with no incentive for finishing early. So most drivers just take their time
Hey that ain't too bad if they space you out in the country where stops are like a half mile to two miles apart.
@@AaronSmith-kr5yf yes that is a good point.
Oh shiit.... that's crazy insane. I feel bad for fedex drivers, I work for the brown company and work 5 days, 50hrs. All I can say is fedex drivers are getting way underpaid for what they do...
I made over $10k in just December at ups too
There’s people in shift that get paid up to 1700 a week.
Is UPS with contractors too?
No sir.
Im with fedex ground we get paid by the day i work around only 30 hours a week bringing home about 750 a week
That's actually pretty good. What is FedEx ground?
I work for a fedex ground contractor as well, and man December was a good month for me. I averaged $1200 per week!
Sounds about what I made too lol fedex ground family
Damn bro I make 330 day & it don’t seem like enough work for Ontrack tho

In what state do you work in if you don’t mind me asking ?
Thank you for the vid, sir! Appreciate the breakdown!
Watching your videos makes me feel less nervous!! Lol I’m starting this Monday as a Delivery helper then I’ll be driving my own truck after I train for one week!🙏🏻 I hope it goes well!!
Hope it went well bro
Pays for your health insurance or contributes?
Bro as an express employee your pay is determined not by FedEx but by your contractor so it’s deceptive lol
We have a different pay structure with my contractor.
Once you hit 500 stops for the week is when the extra stop bonus comes into play.
Bro that’s crazy! Find another contractor… most them get paid 700 for that route your driving. They can afford to pay the drivers a lil more especially since we don’t get benefits. Couple my friends have started in ups warehouse cuz those drivers make 100k a year compared to us making 50-60k
@@sir_squonks_alot_castro4438 I get a base salary. The money we get after 500 stops is all extra.
I'm retired USPS & own 70 ground routes with Fedex and 20 Linehaul. Plus 100 percent from U.S. Marine Corps. Fedex is Awesome!
How do fedex contractors get paid ?
But the amount of boxes is where my money depends
Edited, yes I get a bonus of 300$ a month if I get all of my pickups within the time frame and make all deliveries
Im a fedex contingency driver I get $200+ a day base $4800 a month
Lmao your contractor ripping you off. I do contingency too. 8-10k a month gross.
I deliver for FedEx ground. I finish my route In less than 6 hours. I've finished in less than 4 hours a few times and I get payed a minimum of 200 per day, and 1 dollar per stop after 140 stops
Super informative bro - thank you! Stay safe out there
Get a CDL and a local Fed Ex job and you make that in 10hrs a day with probably 20 - 30 stops a day. I worked for another company and made that in 8 stops a day( a lot of driving) . We make that as net after taxes.
that's good money for a van driver...i'm a linehaul driver for Fedex Ground pulling doubles...the money can be good depending on your contractor. also to drive semis for fedex ground you have to have your CDL-A, doubles endorsement, and a year of experience.
and yes fedex ground is all about which contractor you work for. some pay better than others.
worked 50-55 hours a week, 6 days a week. when i say i "worked" 50-55 hours, about 10 hours a week of that is spent sleeping in my truck waiting to get loaded at the terminal. so if you don't count that, 40-45 hours a week.
last year i grossed $70k, which, for where i live, is a very comfortable wage.
also, my bonus was pathetic. a $100 bill which was insulting, considering my wages.
Been thinking how much roughly I’d be making when I start and now I know. Forget the hate thank you
I miss getting paid weekly. This Amazon every two weeks isnt it lol.
This is what we needed‼️
Y’all rocking with his paycheck⁉️❗️❓
Nice video and thanks for sharing your story. I think you should try to look for fedex express, since they get higher paid and no more contractor. Good luck and drive safe on the road.

Current fedex ground driver here, I'm paid a day rate of $250. I wouldn't go any lower then $200 a day for this job. Best of luck out there drivers.
I hate paid per day system. It should be illegal because this system encouraging us drivers to drive fast and break stop signs to finish job fast.
Is loading the truck before you take off the lot hard? How long do you spend loading before you take off the lot?
im 41and just started working at fedex as a Is package handler for $16 a hour part time, i just needed something to pay my house taxes and its not that bad so far.
Do you also get paid for the hours that you work before starting your actual route? Like when you come in to organize your truck, I just got hired and am coming in at 7:30am to fix my truck but don’t dispatch until about 9:00am so trying to see if I’ll still get paid for the time I come in earlier to get everything organized
not getting OT after 8 hours a day needs to be illegal
Lol I've had 180 stops with almost 300 packages and get paid way less at Amazon fml
Yeah but you don’t lift anything heavy so there’s that
Yeah that's true, but we also do rescues and they group our stops together when they're in close proximity so we really end up doing a lot.

Did you prefer the set wage and stop count or the hourly pay better? I’m looking to leave Amazon delivery for FedEx ground.
Plz I have heard someone said to me that, u have an agreement when a parcel or a package arrive and it reach 3 weeks in ur office it will be given to ur costumers. Is it true???

Go directly to the contractors! Just ask if they have openings. It’s like a family business and if they see that you work hard and well, you might have an in!
You need a year of commercial driving within the last three years, and nothing on your license within that period. Uber, doordash, etc etc. If you don't got that, your best bet is go for a switcher position, that counts as well.
