      Hello Maria, I was just wondering about the status of your journey that you started as art therapy. Is there anything you can recommend?

    thanks for posting it on youtube! She has mentioned a few ways to know more about our inner self which is very helpful. I am impressed with what she has said : we don't need too much talking in art therapy.

The research part of studies really gets me knocked out but I’ll try my best to get the masters if not I will still carry on with my dream. Thank you for giving me hope

    Anybody in the mental health field can use art therapy if they have researched and received training. Just as we can use any other therapies. The only thing is that you can not advertise that you are an art therapist. The person in the video made it clear that she is not certified, but she uses art therapy in her practice. For more info refer to the ACA code of ethics.

    I am just beginning the exploration of AT/EAT in my own healing journey. This is really helpful. I would add that in addition to less verbal people, it’s also great for those who are highly adept at verbal expression because that trait can outshine the experiences that can’t be adequately expressed through words. Most therapies rely so heavily on talk that the emotional/experiential processing is bypassed.

    I drew overlapping waves , which represented my loneliness and boredem to the fast pace and city life. The overlapping waves which kinda look like patterns are the chaotic noise from my own surroundings its like i am unable to get out from the rut . I keep getting myself in circles and even more circles ....which i now feel are my circumstances .

  • @melissadiazart

    She should absolutely not be using the term 'art therapy' considering she is not a trained and credentialed art therapist and the initial directive had nothing to do with art therapy what so ever.

    • @eden7736
      @eden7736 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I'm wondering why you are more interested in picking her non Art Therapy "credentials". The speaker is a psychologist, and an artist, with decades of experience - and - extremely informative. Perhaps you should utilize some of your techniques on your own person, instead of downsizing another. As, the speaker explains, expressive art is utilised as therapy across a broad range of healing professionals, including art therapists, psychologists and counsellors, among others.

      There IS a difference between Art Therapy and art IN therapy......both valuable but specifically different. Those of us who are credentialed tend to feel that the specialized work we have learned should be referred to a bit differently and that people who are not credentialed not say they are an "art therapist" because they aren't. The woman is knowledgeable and a good speaker but begins with saying she is NOT a credentialed art therapist.

    • @ladestructa23

      Eden Q it's frustrating when after spending much time and energy earning a Masters in Art Therapy which is no small endeavor, other professionals undermine your credentials by co-opt the term. It's unethical. It would NOT be tolerated for art therapist to say they practice medicine, social work, nursing, occupational therapy etc. So we are asking for the same equal treatment and many stars have licensure to protect the public from malpractice. So arttherapist art responsible to respect the personhood of the public with education about the term. It's not to undermine the speaker, it's to promote a valid professional identity. 🎨❤️

      @@ladestructa23 She made it VERY CLEAR in the video (SEVERAL TIMES!) that she is not a "credentialed art therapist".
