  • Action from the third round of the 1986 Irish Tarmac Championship. Originally broadcast on Irish state channel RTE, with commentary by Alan 'Plum' Tyndall and Gary Gillespie.
This report was originally uploaded to the excellent Rally Memories channel on TH-cam. It has been recaptured and post-processed using the usual VHSR techniques, in a bid to improve the quality of the footage. Nevertheless, image and sound glitches remain.
VHS Rallies merchandise is available! Show your support for the project by checking out our range of rally-themed t-shirts, hoodies, stickers and bags at vhsrallies.com For VHS Rallies' exclusive range of classic rallying t-shirts, hoodies and mugs, visit vhsrallies.teem...

Wonderful! I wish I had a time machine so I could go back in time and enjoy events like this first hand. The cars and drivers are absolutely on their limits and the roads and speeds in these relatively basic machines are scary...
    Wonderful stuff thanks for uploading!

Spot on mate, I completely agree. I'd even be keen to get my hands on one nowadays. Either that or a GRP4 MK2 Escort. 👍🙃

Definitely a great video. Also, if I could ask, I’ve noticed a lot of your videos went dark, such as the 1979 and 1982 Circuit of Irelands. What happened?

@@VHSRallies Totally understandable decision, and while it is a bit inconvenient at the present, hopefully this new company will bring us rally-obsessed populace more gems from the archives.

I wish the MG was a more reliable car because it was so cool but it just didn't perform up to standards.
