  • My friend Gavin was on his a way to a fishing trip when his tire exploded and left him stranded in the wilderness far from phone service or any help. He finally got a ride to the nearest town and called me to get his car. So I took my sneaker tow truck up and got it loaded on the Collins Dollies for the trip back home

    On today's episode of, Casey can't figure out technology.... YES, the sound sucks, and I'm very well aware of it. I've never owned an actual camera before and I'm still trying to figure out how to use it. This camera has actual "settings" that have to be adjusted depending on the environment and the use of external microphones, which I was using in this video. Unfortunately I'm still trying to figure out how to use the settings and completely screwed them up in this video. Remember, I never said I was good at this...

      If you're trying to fix the sound pick up an Edutige ETM-001 mic. It's tiny and will plug right into your camera. Buy the small dead cat for it and wind will never be an issue. It's a phenomenal omnidirectional mic which I've used for a few years. Take a gawk at the Haunted Church video on my channel for examples of it, or check reviews of it.

My flat bed is only 30 inches long, and I have a box on the bed that takes up half of that. I do carry some tire plugs, and I have an on-board compressor, but, I have made my mind up already that if I have a flat out in the boondocks, I will just drive it in. I will need a new tire and wheel, but it is what it is. All of the rest of my vehicles have spares, and jacks, and lug wrenches. I even have those big 4-way lug wrenches because the little "cute" lug wrenches that come with the vehicles are a joke! A bad joke at that.

    There's actually a lot of newer vehicles sold without a spare to save weight. Even if you do have a spare, it's probably a compact temporary one.
    I ordered myself an extra rim and mounted one of the good old tires on it when I got some new ones. Had to rearrange the space where the factory spare used to be, but it was worth it. I drive 400 miles a week. A full size spare allows you to not worry about it if you need to use it long distance.

      @@CaseyLaDelle OH NO!! Guess that makes 3 of Us. HaHaHa. Ever think about mounting one on the front bumper like in the olden days? I also was surprised near end of video where was said that Toyota's don't have a spare anymore. They used to, right from the Corolla to the Land Cruisers. The FJ's used to be mounted on one of the rear doors. That was one of the tasks in the PDI's of putting them on.

    Both of my cars (13 kia rio and 2021 corolla sedan) came only with a stupid fix a flat kit. First thing I did was getting a spare for both.

    With the 2 ply donut tires that most manufacturers put in the new cars there not much better than no spare.

    LOL , road noise that does not end! Casey do you notice a difference in the way your truck drives now that you have changed the rear differential? Have a good day and of course thumbs UP!

      Not really, surprisingly it drove really straight with the bent rear end

    • @richardthomas1743
      @richardthomas1743 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CaseyLaDelle Oh wow , I was wondering if there was a noticeable difference. If I remember correctly I think it was wearing the tires on the inside edge so the wheels must have been toed out for that to happen. I guess being a toe out condition it helped to stabilize and "wandering" tendency. I am glad that its fixed, thank you Casey and have a good day.

    • @CaseyLaDelle
      @CaseyLaDelle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@richardthomas1743 yeah the total toe out was 2 degrees, which should have made it drive really bad. But the only reason I noticed any problem was the tire wear. It still drove and handled just fine

    On Corvettes they don’t even come with a can of fix a flat or a spare. They have run flat tires which are good for 50 miles. So, if the tires comes unglued you are royally screwed just like your friend.

    My Camaro does not a spare just the can of gunk which tire repair shops hate. And does not seal serious leaks.
    Modern Spare in Layton Utah sells spare tire and rims and complete kits with jack,wrench etc for vehicles that came without a spare. Tire is close to a real tire with decent range and speed rating. It is not a permanent replacement

    Should have hooked the front first then put 2 jack stands at the jack points then lowered the front of the car the the rails would be easier loaded and dollies raised up and ready to go then raise front on the rails move the jack stands and that's it
