  • Pneumatic engraving handpiece DIY:
    Almost done with it. I've modified a few things to make it easier if you don't know how to thread with a tap and die. I'm not very good at it, haven't done much of that. Hope this video helps and I'll be posting the finished piece soon. This one I've made with the help of Rick Alexanders plan.
    I finally made a new handpiece, same concept, works great. My new handpiece in the link below.

      Wgen Gen I’ve made another one recently, here are a couple of links, my newest one and another better detailed series by Rick Alexander. He shows you step by step on how he makes his.

    Hello sir! is the air from the compressor sucks the piston or pushes the piston?

    • @JRyderEngraving
      @JRyderEngraving  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It only pushed air until I modified it. It sucks and pushes the air now.

      Sorry about he late response, I just recently got back into making videos on my channel.. I don’t make handpieces to sell. I’m still using the first one I made.

  •  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did the same thing,But the hammer is still standing, not turning upwards.when I plug the steam.

      YONG Toshiro do you mean the piston? The piston should be slightly smaller in diameter than the barrel. Another factor could be that the inside of your barrel might need to be reamed(smoothed out) after using a drill bit to make your barrel, the drill bit can leave the inside rough. If you don’t have a reamer, try using sandpaper to sand the inside. I’m in the process of finishing another handpiece, I’ll demonstrate what I’m talking about for you.

    •  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made piston, it smaller than the stem diameter.I have smoothed the inside surface,But it still does not work.

    • @JRyderEngraving
      @JRyderEngraving  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      YONG Toshiro ok...how about the vent holes. Your quick change graver holder. The part that’s inside the barrel, should end midway of the vent holes.
      Your spring:
      It shouldn’t be too stiff, more on the softer, springier side. Play with different lengths.
      Your compressor, did you modify it to push and suck the air back and forth so the piston will hit the quick change back and forth, like a jack hammer?

    •  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use a variety of springs,soft, hard different.My air compressor,only one direction out.It does not suck back.

    • @JRyderEngraving
      @JRyderEngraving  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      YONG Toshiro ok that’s your problem....you have to modify your compressor to push and pull the air. That’s what makes the piston move back and forth.

    I wonder if you can use a tattoo gun it’s the same principle? Maybe I’d like to know.?

    • @JRyderEngraving
      @JRyderEngraving  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reaper Game over it is the same principle. I’ve never used a tattoo gun. The pistons on these pneumatic machines are probably a little heavier than a tattoo gun.

    • @RedSeedlesslive
      @RedSeedlesslive 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking the same thing. A rotary tattoo gun would probably be perfect, might need a stronger motor. You can alter the plunge debth on rotary machines by deepening the valleys in the plastic thing that drives the needle back and forth. Even if it didnt work adapting the mechanics might be interesting. the smooth action of a rotary machine

    Why doesn't the air come out of the handle hole?

    • @JRyderEngraving
      @JRyderEngraving  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It should come out. Is your piston hitting the top of the graver holder on the inside? The top of the graver holder should fit inside and stop between the holes. The piston should hit the top of the holder. If that’s off then it won’t work properly

    • @JRyderEngraving

      This video shows the piston hitting the top of the graver holder, hope this helps.
