When an artist can make u feel texture thru their painting u know they're a great artist ........amazing work!!
Thank you, I appreciate that!
WoW! I love this!
I really appreciate how you keep the reference photo there most of the time (would be nice to have it there all the time) as well as having the finished view of each step showing, super helpful, thank you (most videos don’t do this which is frustrating and inhibits learning). I love how you title each step so we now what we are doing and I love your finished painting. I will try this to use a a special birthday card!
Many thanks!!
Thanks Catherine! This video contains excerpts from the full-length tutorial in our watercolor school.

If it were up to him, I would give you a million likes in the future. I hope we see colors more because we do not see colors very much, especially the process of mixing and grading. Thank you with all my heart. ❤

Beautiful, Rebecca. I live in Aiken, SC and these little red gems are all over my yard. This is a wonderful tutorial. Going to try it. My drawing skills aren't too perfect, so I'll have to find a drawing of this Cardinal on Google.
Thanks Judy! You can see the entire tutorial in real time at my online school: rebeccarhodes.teachable.com/

Thanks so much for your tutorial. I am new to watercolor and I desperately need someone’s guidance. Especially how you describe the watercolor, it’s thick as milk or thin as tea that is very helpful. This is amazing and I am going to try my first cardinal tomorrow.
That's Great! I hope it went well!
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talents. I am painting 4 Cardinals this year for Christmas Cards. I need to hurry. Your video has me in a daze and so excited to work along with you. The details and instructions you give here are really fantastic. Happy Holidays!
You are welcome Dottie - thanks for your message, and I'd love to see how it goes with your cardinals!
I am doing some watercolor with some ladies and was looking for a cardinal and came across your name and could not believe it, you were my chorus teacher, I still remember singing, We didn't start the fire, and Sia Humba! Love your Detail, Becky Sechriest Duncan

Wow! Just beautiful! How long did this take you in real time?
Thank you Carol, it took about 10 hours.
@@RebeccaRhodesWatercolorArtist wow
beautiful :)
Thank you Donna!
By glaze do you mean a different paint product or just a blending technique.
By glaze, I'm referring to a thin layer of color that you gently place over previous colors that have dried. I hope this helps!
I am a first timer, is your previous paint dried now or do you need to keep it damp? How?
I allow previous layers to dry completely.
Stunning detail! What size and brand of brush is this?
Thank you! The brush is in the description.
Very beautiful! Can I publish the result of this tutorial(my own painting) on our german watercolour forums? I want to receive comments from my "friends" there. Also I want to kindly ask permission to show my work in public if I tell your name or put a link to your video?
Nicole, thanks for asking, and yes you may publish your results on your forums and show your work in public. And I would appreciate it if you would provide my name and link to the video. I appreciate this!
Love your technique. I have a question though. How long do you allow some or certain layers of color to dry before applying the next color? This seems important to address. BTW: I’m a first time viewer and subscriber.
Hello, I allow each layer of color to dry completely before applying the next layer, unless I'm painting wet in wet. Welcome to our channel!
Thank you. One more question. When you say completely dry, do you mean overnight or a few hours later? I'm still in the learning stages
It doesn't take long for the color to dry because it's pretty thin - just a couple of minutes.
Thank you so much for your time.
what kind of brushes are you using? Mine keep losing hairs.
Sandy, my favorite brush is a Michael Klein Synthetic pointed round brush #2 by Rosemary & Co.
what kind of pencil are you using and will it show up in the final completion?
I use an inexpensive mechanical pencil. With a light touch, it will not show, and if it does, you can erase.
Thanks for your quick response!
@@RebeccaRhodesWatercolorArtist Thanks again Rebecca!
Nice Video Madam

You can find the brushes in the description. Raphael Kaerell Pointed Round Brushes.

That's great!
Why using such a tiny brush?
I use a tiny brush to create details.
Fabulous
Thank you Wanda!
