As always, such helpful information, well presented. Questions: For this dog, being groomed with the 9 blade, there was no pre-bath shaving. Do you ever do a pre-bath shave? If so, what is the criteria for when to do this/when not to?

So with your clippers where do you get your 5 in 1 blades from? Do they have different 5 in 1 for barber and animal? Can you post link for blade? Thank you 🐾

It depends on which clipper you are using. Most hair dressers use the Chromado with the 5 in 1. We use these as well in the pet industry. The clippers that barbers use with a fading feature...we don't use those. Any grooming supply sells the Wahl 5 in 1 if they sell Wahl clippers.

Would an 8 &1/2 blade be good as well, or are those a bit dangerous too? Just worried some owners might think the 9 is too short, or if the dog has thinner hair and the skin shows?

Yes, an 8 1/2 or 7 will work as well.

I used to be a chromato girl, but after years or testing and developing, I've developed my own clippers that use a 4 in 1 blade. The blades are disposable, but soooo much cheaper than the other blades on the market. Hers's a link to my product page.
