The O. G. Forge is coming back, too?! I've been waiting for it since one of the first modding teams announced it on the Heroes community forums over a decade ago! I'm looking forward to Day of Reckoning even more now. You guys are doing a great job! 🥰
The Vori town "Palace" looks so incredibly good; an immensely magical/mystical atmosphere combining the arctic and the cosmic themes inherent to the celestial visage of the polar regions of a planet. Bravo! The units are top notch as well although I would have preferred just one more Snow Elf unit to match Rampart's two elvish units (the tiger could have had a rider perhaps just like the Pegasi). I wonder if that third town is a Jadamean Dark Elf/Dark Dwarf town with a subterranean twist (with all the shroom stuff) to also fit in with the other towns straight from the M&M setting of Enroth. One of the units from the other teaser videos does resemble a Dark Elf from M&M 8 (the one with the dual-wielded swords and the half-mask). That one could be a neutral unit though... Edit: the Forge theme from Romero is of course amazing; I love the ominous and desolate feeling of it combined with the "mechanical touch".
There was an interview in the stream the following day with a bit more information. The third town, Grotto, is apparently a _pre_-Jadamean Dark Elf/gnomish town in its primary setting contextualisation, though it could stand in for the later Jadamean dark elves. Basically, Heroes Chronicles established that part of Antagarich's underground network is a vibrant "Roots of Life/World Tree" tunnel network which long before Heroes 3's main time-period was guarded by elves until they somehow failed, which Day of Reckoning is tying into the Dark Elf/Light Elf wars MM8 mentioned as having been incessant until an uneasy peace began centuries ago.
@@LordInsane100 That's a very nice tie-in with the established lore (I wasn't too far off in guessing what that could be via extrapolating from the project's faithfulness to Enroth's lore and the appearance of that one MM8 Dark Elf looking unit). I totally forgot about the Heroes Chronicles stuff (didn't play every single chapter of it, thought it was kinda sloppy/meandering at parts) but I did remember that lore snippet from the Dark Elf chainmail relic from MM8. BTW somebody ought to "remaster" the "Sword of Frost" chapter of HC that had Vori towns represented with Rampart and replace them with the proper Vori town from this project.
I'm a huge fan of this project, but I have a few problems. What I like from what I see is that you want to give all animations in 60 fps. But the palace unfortunately looks like a weak VCMI or other WoG mod. The units and the city itself stand out too much simply graphically. I like the concept itself, but I'm afraid it went in the wrong direction. But forge. Forge looks badass. When I read about this city, this is practically how I imagined it

Wow! This looks authentic like HotA does. The city screen of the Fordge looks much better than all previous versions I saw. Guys, good luck with your mod. Can you say when approximately it will be ready or at least what is the percentage of readiness at the moment?
I will never be a fan of the forge town, but I admit, the rest looks great. In the last trailer I had some reservations about the looks of the Palace units (they all looked too mono-color white) but at least the few units on the overworld map looked improved. And those water-based resources and mines? I love them!
It's called Grotto (had been revealed before but hadn't technically been confirmed) - there was more information the following day, it's a neutral underground town with dark elves and gnomes that live in a much more vibrant tunnel network than Dungeon's (hence all the mushrooms and having a more loam-y native terrain), mostly represents something from long before H3's main time-period but could be used to stand in for the modern dark elves over on Jadame.

I really like the vibe of that town cuz it reminds me of the dark elves like Dungeon from Heroes 5, which is my favorite town from the game. So I really looking forward to it. Hopefully the mod will come by the end of this year.
I will admit that I'm a bit sad that doing a town around the modern Jadamean dark elves - who wouldn't be in a town with H5 dungeon vibes - is tricky enough to fit into H3 that no-one seems to have bothered to even try.

@@kudorgyozo I don't think they will appear in the game in that shape and form, they're just a showcase of the lighting function really. The applications of that function can be much different and more subtle
yes. yes! soon i will be able to switch from hota. they promised me greatness and bringing forge back but they sniffed too much of their farts and had to change the design.
The weird thing is that Forged in Fire has quite a few elements that seems almost tailor-made to set-up something close to the OG Forge in the context of the Light Path ending to MM7 - but Factory has just enough things from OG Forge that they can't cleanly do a refined OG-like Forge (like Day of Reckoning is doing).
Apparently one of the HOTA devs have hinted at Forge being made, but that still runs into the issue that they did an excellent alternate Forge backstory in the campaign for a town that has bits of what Forge would have.
@@LordInsane100 i wont deny it being excellent but if something doesnt belong its factory. not forge. factory is even more out of place than sci-fi forge.
@@DroopyYoga I hope, but don't think it would be so easy to turn off Forge. It's not possible in HOTA to turn off Factory, unless you are of course playing random map, but even then I'm not so sure about random stacks on the map. Would hope so. And I'm not really mad, but yeah, a bit disappointed I'd guess. Will stick to HOTA most likely.

The piano music was just for this teaser, the in-game music is done properly and orchestrally, by using many of the old sound samples also used in H3. :)
I didn't have time for full orchestration (the whole theme for the teaser was made in less than 2 hours), but I won't rush it for the official release, I promise.
