spray the base with triflow lubricant. triflo doesnt gum up, its great for locks too.

I have two tower fans that used to squeak like hell! The reason was the top of the thing that makes the air. I just needed to lube it up with WD40.

Mine randomly will make clunking noise toward the bottom. It sucks when it wakes u up in the middle of the night lol.
