Great job getting this working again, you need to get that roller switch properly adjusted. Whoever did the electrical for this was overpaid, inside the electrical panel was an embarrassment to the profession and it carried on into the switch mechanism. Your problems seem to be centered around that installation which should never have been passed with the final inspection from the city/county.
@@TheTheo58 I am referencing the 1:38 minute - 1:48 minute mark of the rats nest of wires. How the circuit boards are thrown in and not flush. General lack of care on the installation. She paid for a very expensive addition to her home, would be nice to get workman quality. That is not what she received. Personally would have used a level, square, add sufficient labeling.
@@burgie03 No training is perfect I would agree with that. But the elevator union applies pressure to apprentices that do not do quality work. They teach them the correct way, slow down, do it right the first time. Use your level and take those 45 secs. to make it look good for the rest of its life. Group your wires so you can clearly troubleshoot quickly in the future. Don't just plug wires in, plug them all with the same excess to look uniform. If that work is not to a standard it becomes more and more difficult for that mechanic to keep employment. I say this because in large part the Union elevator installation is head and shoulders higher quality than non-union less trained elevator constructors. Non-union companies do not have the same training. They get work by underbidding union work using less skilled labor. You pay for what you get. Union elevator work is a small trade, close-knit, that takes extreme pride in keeping the public safe. Elevators are the safest form of public transportation. More people ride elevators every day than any other form of transportation. That installation just looking at it looks unprofessional, like they did not care. Funny story sense you wanted to talk about quality work and what is good or not. I went to my kid's career day. I asked if they wanted to help me troubleshoot some elevators. We are talking 5th graders. I blew up 6 pictures of controllers. Big poster-sized. Showed them solid top rated controller installations. (companies usually have an adjuster judge/rate/ pass final inspection) Just like I am saying used a level, tie straps, well labelled. By raise of hands, a majority of 5th graders can tell the difference between a quality installation surpassing standards, and a hack job of someone who did not give a damn like in this home installation. Fifth graders can tell good from bad controller installation. None of them were in a union. So when you say union does not make me a good electrician your right. Giving a damn, do the job right the first time, and being proud of the work I do for my customer is what makes me a good elevator man. I am much more than an electrician, that would get boring after a while.
Ms. Kelly You are awesome and Adventurous. And you save $500.00 plus some. I get the feeling you like stuff like this. lol lol. Challenging the mind to remember what the repairman taught you. YOU ROCK!!!

Thanks, Tina. I am sure the service techs would have multiple negative remarks to make at my protocols (or lack, thereof) but it works for me and I appreciate your sweet endorsement!
Kelly Sydnor: Hi Mrs. Sydnor, I support your entire family 100%. Thank you for the heart and comment. You know it really means alot to me and I mean it sincerely. Repair men charge an arm and a leg for something so simple, we have to find a safe way to make a repair. I 👏 you for not being afraid. When I was younger and my dear sweet Grandpa was alive, He taught me how to change the oil, tires & brakes on my car. I also loved it because He had so many stories about life, listening to him was a history lesson. Mrs. Sydnor thank you again for sharing the video and giving me a heart, you made me smile. All the best to everyone and hello to all and Kenai & Princess D included. Tina in Cali
You truly had a dear grandpa. Lessons he taught you were priceless, which also included belief in yourself and your abilities regardless of your gender. This is what both my parents taught me. My dad taught me how to check and change the car's oil, replace a flat tire, etc. My mom taught me to cook, sew, sing, apply makeup, etc. Seems very typically gender specific but they exposed me to everything, equally. Extremely progressive of them, now that I look back on it. I am truly grateful for them.
Momma Kelley should have some type of pit poles or a metal rod that keeps the elevator from crushing her while she is arrantly pushing buttons on a safety device that she relies on for her son's safety with.
@@KellySydnorRollwithCole Hey you are correct. You are not aware of how the safety device works, you just start fingering it to see where it will run again. Unsure WHAT caused the safety device to activate. Did the cable get snagged? Is the cable lose someplace? Is the cable failing? Is the fitting around the cable that holds it in place not tight? Maybe you set that safety when you manually lowered the car. Maybe that is not the issue at all? Maybe it was a burnt wire in the controls and your lowering set the safety you were playing with? Maybe the pump did not have pressure and our manually pumping it pressurized the unit allowing the sensor to recognize the pressure? How many safety does your elevator have youtube star? Your child's safety is your primary concern at the beg. of the video. All the more reason to pay the money to have it maintained correctly. When is the last time all the safties were checked? When is the last time the fluid in the tank was checked? Who lubed it last to keep it running smoothly? Are you aware that most people that fall down elevator shafts are from when you jump down a simple landing and fall back down into the shaft? Often times it is mature people not use to jumping down 2-4 feet and they have trouble balancing after a jump like that because they never do it. Just like "Charisma" jumped down but if she would have stumbled back who was going to catch her, the guy taking a nice video of her? No, he would have just taped her fall for youtube. Put the damn camera down and help the child to safety. Hold her hand, keep her from falling backward. Maybe take the time to do it right and get a ladder. Cutting off power, or lockout tag out is step one when troubleshooting. But you still want to create a safe space to work by keeping the stored mechanical energy from crushing you then use metal poles. Often called Pit Poles. If nothing else buy used 4x4 tire jack and when you are in the pit area throw that in. If the elevator comes down on you get lower than the jack and at least you won't die being crushed by an elevator you just lowered. I don't care how diy you are trying to be, what you did was extremely unsafe. You have just enough information to feel like you can get it running. Lacking any understanding of how the safeties work, why they work, what they guard, how they fail, the correct way to reset, how to understand when something is bent for it not to work, etc. If you can not afford to upkeep the elevator safely you might want to consider moving to a single floor home. Elevators are extremely expensive to repair as you are well aware. You don't have a major home elevator system you have a lot of small market companies putting them in. The older those units get, the elevator technicians will say parts are obsolete and they will need to X, Y, Z. The cheapest part of an elevator is the initial installation. Maintenance will get more and more expensive. Elevator companies make close to 80% of the profit on maintenance.
Momma Kelly you are a very smart woman who is a genius with mechanical equipment I admire your skills and abilities to troubleshoot the problem. Good Job!

Great video!! Except you really shouldn't be using an elevator in a fire situation, fireman carry or other routes should be looked into as your priority!
Well you have to understand it makes more sense to try and get the person down through the elevator first rather than leave them until first responders arrive as that can take some time. I agree that elevators shouldn't be used in case of fire but sometimes there isn't really a better option
The elevator needs to have a manual lower system (like a hand crank) built into the car for emergency situations like loss of power (due to fire or power cuts) or unit failure as seen in the video. That way you can wind the car down to the desired floor level and safely exit the elevator.
@@SirFrag32 it would probably be pretty easy for a first responder to get someone out of a home elevator. Home elevators dont have big metal doors like commercial elevators do.
@@SirFrag32 I'm a career firefighter. We'll be able to get you out via hydraulic systems but it's not advised to use it because it'll take longer to get you out rather than using the stairs. So it's not a matter of actually being trapped, it just adds to the time it'll take to get you out.
I have to admit I was very surprised with how much You have learned on working on the elevator. A lot of people don’t know near as much about this stuff so good work!!
Thanks, Dylan. I don't know much but I'm not afraid to learn and attempt. It is how you learn and grow. Seems like I have learned a lot of information for things I won't ever have to deal with again, though! Appreciate you watching.
I agree with you both. I will be adjusting it so it fits properly. I'll bet it never slips out for no reason, again! I don't think it was installed well from the beginning.
Mamma Kelly puts in her diy cape and saves the day❣️❣️❣️ I did read the professional advice and that's all good too. Keep your cape ready mama Kelly, we love watching you get it done.
I’m an elevator enthusiast. That’s actually the first pump I’ve seen that uses a button to manually move the elevator down. Usually, there’s a valve that drains the fluid when opened. Awesome video!
I do feel a little panicky inside my gut when the elevator is stuck between floors because I don't like Cole not having full access. I get super focused and methodical until the situation is resolved. Once resolved, I feel as light as a feather! It's such a relief.
Patience is a virtue but it isn't my best one! I prefer to take action and learn as I go. So far, it has served us well...most of the time! Thanks for watching and for your kind compliments.
An immersed heater in the hyd tank would be cheaper than that space heater. I bet one of those engine oil heaters for larger trucks on a thermostat would do it.
@@KellySydnorRollwithCole That helps the tank, but does nothing to protect the hydraulic valves and pump from getting too cold. A warm tank of oil is useless if the hydraulic control valves and ram won't operate.
isettech first off they do make such a device to keep the oil in the tank and there is also a way to allow the elevator tank to by pass the oil to also help keep the temp at a operational temp during cold that will protect said vavle as for the hydraulic ram, that’s not in the tank that is the actual piston in the hoist way that lifts/ lowers the elevator its self in conjunction with the valve and oil in the tank. ;)
Most hydraulic elevators have a mode called viscosity control, that when an elevator isn't being used, the hydraulic pump will turn on, and the valve will open and circulate fluid. I'm also sure the elevators braking system is on while this is happening to prevent the elevator from going to the bottom of the shaft, and losing its perception of where it exactly is inside the shaft.
I'm older than you but I learned early on to do things myself if I want them done or not have to pay a lot to get something relatively simple done, like an oil change on my car or small repairs. Even after I married it was evident I'd still need some of these skills. When it came to something for my kids, I'd do whatever it took to meet their needs. You're a great mom! I'm a huge fan of Cole & Charisma so seeing your interactions with them is what brought me to your channel.

DewDan11, I started my reply to you yesterday afternoon,,,it was lengthy,,,as I and Charisma were sitting in the surgical waiting room. (Cole was having a routine procedure- nothing serious) in the midst of my reply, the doc came in to speak to me about the procedure results and I instantly deleted my entire response to you. Ugh! LOL Thanks for your sweet comments. I had to chuckle because I had the same thoughts as you about Kenai's reactions to my intro. He seemed to be acting out my explanation! I had planned to do some cute video enhancements (my strange sense of humor) but ran out of time. Additionally, it really was a serious situation for me and, if anyone was searching for a remedy for their stuck elevator in a similar situation, they probably wouldn't want to be distracted by silliness - especially if they have a loved one still trapped in the elevator!!! Oh, but it would have been fun to edit in some cool Kenai thought bubbles and sound effects. 🤪

Thanks Kelly for the advice👍For my part, I advice you to watch a French series "Dix pour cent" broadcast on Netflix, it is wonderful, very interesting. I will forward them as soon as the drawing is finished👌 A bientôt, see you soon😗
I work for the company that makes this elevator. It's a Paca-Ride, model 016, made by Waupaca Elevator in Appleton, Wisconsin. This is an older version of the Paca-Ride, and the safety plate that holds slack cable switch no longer has that round plastic piece for the switch roller to sit into. I don't have experience with that older design, but I don't think the slack cable switch needs any adjustment. I understand servicing your elevator can be expensive, but the solution to the problem could be as simple as lubing the rails. We suggest having your elevator serviced at least once per year, specifically to avoid problems like this. Also, I advise against making any adjustments to the parts of the elevator yourself, as you will completely void any warranties and take on all liability if any future accident were to occur..
Excellent advice and I thank you for taking the time to comment. I have not made adjustments to the switch, as the elevator has been running smoothly since I reset it. I do believe it is time for service such as you suggest. Again, thanks for commenting!
Thanks, Myra. I am usually up for the challenge but I have definitely come upon some tasks that I won't do. Climbing on the uppermost part of our roof exceeded my comfort threshold. I hired a helper for that task!!! 😁
Nice job, cool video. I’m an HVAC/R contractor and most people have no idea how many different things we work on that we have to “figure out” just like you did. Good job, be safe.
Thanks, Bill. I have learned quite a bit about things I knew nothing about simply by troubleshooting. I feel very accomplished when I figure it out. When I can't figure it out, I'm in the same spot I was in before I tried fix it - needing call someone. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Thanks for your kind comment and for watching.

Mama Kelly, I love your ability to handle difficult situations. You are beautiful, smart, ingenious, patient, resourceful........... Love you.
Wow, Sarah. That is mighty generous of you. Thank you. 😊
You're the best!!!! Cole is Sooooo fortunate to have a Do-it-yourselfer Mom, GREAT JOB👍👍👌😆❤ saving lots of money in the meantime.
Thanks, Maurine! We do save a lot of money, that's for sure. Fortunately, I have been very lucky in my "fixes" so far. Whew!
Oh my goodness! Cole looks so much like his momma😂❤ I love watching Cole. His smile is infectious! You did good raising him momma.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoy watching Cole. I love him to pieces.
Ms. Kelly You are awesome and Adventurous. And you save $500.00 plus some. I get the feeling you like stuff like this. lol lol. Challenging the mind to remember what the repairman taught you. YOU ROCK!!!
I LOVE it! $$$ 💪 🛠
Totally impressed. You are one resourceful lady. I have trouble adding windshield cleaning fluid for my car. No, I am NOT mechanically inclined!
Manxkin, I hear you. Lifting the hood on the car can be intimidating but I have fixed multiple things on our cars. I will share those vids someday soon. Anyone can do these fixes!
Just want to say love you...for your strength and love for your son with God surrounding you...
You are so sweet, Love. Thank you.
A smart woman of all trades. Momma Kelly blessing falls on you and your family. Your unconditional love for your kids. Love that.
Thanks, Linda!
Great job. You are a blessing to your family.
You are so awesome. I’m so glad you got it resolved.
Oh, my gosh. I was so relieved to get it resolved, too. Could you tell by my voice? LOL
Kelly Sydnor yes I know for safety concerns it gave you relief. We also never want to be restricted to only having access to part of our home. I am thankful to live in a house that is all one one floor.
Mrs. Sydnor, job well done, I am # 110 on the like side. You did an excellent job and You followed safety protocols. I am happy that you were able to save your family money by DIYing it. It was really something to see you go right to it and finish the job. Thank you for taking us along on this journey. Take care Mrs. Sydnor and all the best to everyone. Tina in Cali
Hot Mamas love for son makes her Smart, reliable mechanic and resourceful she become.
Thanks, Santos!
Momma Kelly you are a very smart woman who is a genius with mechanical equipment I admire your skills and abilities to troubleshoot the problem. Good Job!
Thanks, Beverly. I appreciate your generous endorsement of my skills but I am nowhere near genius. I just watch those who are...very carefully!
Momma Kelly,I just stumbled on your son and your U-tube-channels recently and have watched almost all your videos to date. You’re a hands on mother and one in a million. You are so caring, loving, protective, intelligent, diligent, humble, compassionate, ingenious,a workaholic and a wife and mothers’ goals.May you live long to enjoy the fruits of your labor for your amazing, vibrant, benevolent and intelligent sons.No doubt they have inherited your goodness. You have contributed in no small way to the great man Cole has become today, thus proving that for every disability, there’s ability. With the combined intelligence and smartness of Cole and Charisma as a Couple, the best is yet to come for them.May God bless their marriage with their hearts’ desires and May they stick to each other till the end of their lives,Ameen.
Wow, thank you for your generous compliments, Nana. You are very kind.
I was waiting for momma Kelly to come to the rescue as usual!!
Thanks, Dat-Girl. I was delayed to the scene, that's for sure. Glad they didn't have to wait for me to get home to get Charisma out. I think she would have gone crazy.
Like I said in my previous comment get a hold of the local union of elevator constructors in you’re area tell them you’re story and I am sure some Union brothers of mine will help you out. We are men and women that have hearts and are proud tradesmen I am sure someone will help out
I’d agree, for that fact most people do not intend to do wrong or a poor job

This guy who came to our house was excellent. Check out the vid th-cam.com/video/mv1UtRPNEgU/w-d-xo.html
@@Josiahsutton1 Being stuck in an elevator that has lost power is even worse, because now first responders can't get you out.
Mama Kelly you are good. Job well done. 💕💕💕💕👍👍👍👍
Thanks, Jennifer.
salute Mrs. Kelly !!! you're amazing, much love ❤️
Thank you, Stormy!😘
I have to admit I was very surprised with how much You have learned on working on the elevator. A lot of people don’t know near as much about this stuff so good work!!
Thanks, Dylan. I don't know much but I'm not afraid to learn and attempt. It is how you learn and grow. Seems like I have learned a lot of information for things I won't ever have to deal with again, though! Appreciate you watching.
That screw on that slack cable sensor needs to be adjusted, the roller isn't sitting completely in the notch on the plastic endcap.
You are right, I noticed that and said the same thing to myself. I am not a elevator expert. But I have had dealing with elevators in the past.
Agreed! Thank you so much. I am happy to hear your assessment.
I agree with you both. I will be adjusting it so it fits properly. I'll bet it never slips out for no reason, again! I don't think it was installed well from the beginning.
@Qboom Iolllo No! don't add a spring! that defeats the whole purpose of the safety switch!
Smart momma to the rescue!
💪 🛠
You are such an inspiration!
Awww! Thanks!
Talking to yourself always makes you an expert LOL!! Good job mama kelly!! Very informative video!
Thank you!! 😁
Can we just give it up for mama/DIY Kelly🎉🎊🎉🎊. You are the best
Thanks, Kathleen! You are too kind.
Mamma Kelly puts in her diy cape and saves the day❣️❣️❣️
I did read the professional advice and that's all good too. Keep your cape ready mama Kelly, we love watching you get it done.
Thank you!!!
I’m an elevator enthusiast. That’s actually the first pump I’ve seen that uses a button to manually move the elevator down. Usually, there’s a valve that drains the fluid when opened. Awesome video!
Kelly Momma... You are my new ‘Wonder Woman’... Love you!
Thank you, Mayra!
Momma Kelly to the rescue 👏 👏...
Thanks, DeDe.
You sure have a lot of patience. I'm glad you know how to do this. Save Cole, save money!😆❤️
I do feel a little panicky inside my gut when the elevator is stuck between floors because I don't like Cole not having full access. I get super focused and methodical until the situation is resolved. Once resolved, I feel as light as a feather! It's such a relief.
Kelly Sydnor you’re a good Mama Miss Kelly. I have two grown sons also. 😊
Mom what will ew do without you? We love you so much. Merry Christmas, happy new year to you.
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you, too!
$500.00 saved! I’m glad they showed you how to troubleshoot yourself. Knowing you can fix this should keep Charisma at ease😁
$$$ 💪
Your a great Mom, wish you all the best.
Kelly Momma is am inspiration! Handling business, not waiting on anybody! Love it! ❤💪🙌
Patience is a virtue but it isn't my best one! I prefer to take action and learn as I go. So far, it has served us well...most of the time! Thanks for watching and for your kind compliments.
Wow..mama Kelly..on top of being a great wife and mom..you are a genius. !!!!!!!
Thanks, AquilaMonroe!
I just love how you all stick together.. this is so awesome ...what a wonderful example of true love for one another😋😋💕💕you guys

What a hands on mom...boy....you made my day!! ❤️
Thank you, Htc!
You’re so smart! Momma Kelly knows best and completes the test.
Thanks so much!
I do DIY, but can’t hold a candle to you. You are THE QUEEN!!! I started out on Cole’s & Charisma’s channel, and then had to join yours.❤️❤️❤️❤️😷😁👌🏽👏🏽
Wow, thank you! So glad you joined me!
An immersed heater in the hyd tank would be cheaper than that space heater. I bet one of those engine oil heaters for larger trucks on a thermostat would do it.
Great suggestion. I am going to look into that. Appreciate you!
Aww, thanks for your sweet comment. Sorry for the late responses. I'm just seeing it now. Welcome to my channel, too! Glad you enjoy CnC. We are so proud of them.
@@KellySydnorRollwithCole No problem Kelly, it is a 3 year old video so most people don't check back on their videos very far. I love watching C&C so I do see every video they ever make since day one. I have noticed you aren't seen much these days since they have been in CA. I'll watch for new posts from you but I don't always get notified.
You are so hands on as always momma kelly you are a great mother love from london😘

Mama Kelly, you are the guurrrll! What up with your DIY self. That's a cool five hundred that didn't have to leave your pocket. Kudos!
Thanks, Edna. Good timing on the $500 savings. Sure needed it for gifts! 😂
Wow...You are indeed, very handy! This inspires me to go out there and learn something new.
Wow, what a beautiful compliment. Thanks. I hope you do feel confident to go out and learn something new. You can do it!!!
I'm Impressed how you figured this out! I'm trying to figure out how I can up my elevator manually so that i can can in there and reset the slack cable switch
Momma Kelly is amazing! And loaded with a lot of smartness too👍
Thanks, Tina!
You are an awesome mom Momma Kelly
Thank you, LaChelle.
I agree with "theworkenman" I was a 40 year career elevator repair man, and certified as QEI-1 for elevator safety inspections. This video makes the hair stand up on my neck! In addition to ALL theworkenman had to say..... these units are noted killers of trained elevator people! This is an accident waiting to happen! Please!!! call people who are trained and certified (and insured) to make repairs for you!
HI Donald. Our certified, trained pro will show you all about the safety features of our elevator in the follow up video. I hope it helps you understand our system.th-cam.com/video/mv1UtRPNEgU/w-d-xo.html

@@KellySydnorRollwithCole Your welcome 😂 You make great videos.
✨Another great vlog. 🔩🧰
Kenai, is such a great wing man. His expressions on hearing of the situation and his poised motion, reacted at the right time to your call to begin work.
#KellyMama, 🦸♀️within a minute of your intro, I knew that there was no wasted movement from you. The focus was to troubleshoot and complete the task. Your “couple of tricks,” certainly arrived at the desired outcome, allowing you to continue with the rest of your day. Being hands on is very resourceful and may save in a multitude of ways.
Thank you again for a practical and brilliant video. 💞
Ugh! LOL
Thanks for your sweet comments.
Kelly Sydnor
My best regards to Cole for an uneventful recovery. 💞
✨I love the fun/silliness part but as you said, on a thoughtful, sober moment, the distraction may not me too welcome in an urgent situation.
Thank you again for a fab vlog💞
You are such a good mom God bless you

Thanks, so much, Joan! The first "maintenance guy" I hovered over was my dad. He wasn't a maintenance guy by trade but he sure saved our family lots of money by all the things he could fix himself. I'm grateful to have learned so much from him.

Thank you, Mylėne. I have a question for you. Do you watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel? It's a TV series available on Amazon Prime. In any case, my favorite part was when the family spent time in Paris and watching how the experience in Paris transformed their personalities. So good!
@@KellySydnorRollwithCole I've already heard about this show, but I've never seen it! It should in principle be broadcast in France from December 20 on Netflix.
Awesome mom. You are amazing
