@@Pancito49 That was the problem. Men ran the radio world and they had no idea what to do with women who were not housewives. It was not their fault, it was how they were raised.
Found this on one of the complications of various shows and Candy came on and I was hooked. Same comments as all others, I survive the organ music. Big thanks 🐈⬛😉👍
I’ve never listened to this show. Not a fan of the organ but I love the character and the way our heroine is feminine but strong. She is intelligent and yet demure at times. I really appreciate the balance of the character. Such a fun show. Thank you
I agree with you both on the organ and character. I joke all a woman needed in those days was to scream and faint. There are females like Candy who show females can think. 🧐🐈⬛

Love her!! .One of my favorite old time radio shows. This channel is such a blessing. Thank you SO VERY much!! I was assuming that I had heard all the episodes, I was wrong. Out of the gems here, I only remember the last 4
The big problem is that the male writers did not know how to creat stories for a woman who was not a sidekick. It was not their fault, it was just how society was constructed. Thanks for this rare treat.
Even though there are only 14 episodes that survived, we got the final episode and 2 Christmas episodes; ''Jack Frost" & "San Juan Baptista" and one of my favorites is the Cable Car Murder. Just about all the others have entertainment value. I'm a native San Franciscan so when she mentions certain locations in town I know where the streets are that she's talking about. (I have all 14 in my collection.) It's a real Ducky program, one of my favorites. P.S. On the air the show got an award by one of our newspaper columnists & actor, Earl Wilson ? I don't remember any commercials so maybe that's why it went off the air ?
1:29:12 when she was mistaken for "another one of those..." Although I can surmise, I have to wonder what he would have said if he had completed that thought
She was fleecing them both out of their money by lying to each that she loved them - causing a jealous reaction & a shooting death of one & the suicide of the other. That's a bit MORE than "dating" two guys.
Thanks, pal, I couldn't sleep til I looked it up. The original show ran from 1949 - 1951. A re-boot pilot aired Oct 21, 1952 ... and Candy's new phone number was 'Yukon 38309'. Too bad ... the new show wasn't picked up.
Thanks for posting! Refreshing to have a lady detective to listen to!
Love Candy Matson! only wish there were more!
Ya, Wish there were more. Women detectives have a different approach and attitude.

The most best thing I love about the radio shows, U can use your imagination and picture the character's and the radio scenes
Some great writing in this particular detective show. Candy deserves a reboot!
"The Cable Car" what an episode 🤣

Where on TV !?
Candy is the only woman detective I can find in old time radio. If you know others please post.

Great series. I fortunately, very few of the episodes survive. The scripts however for all of them I think have survived.
yeah there's only 14 that survived. I really wish there were more.
Very observant. They kept the change.

Candy, you crazy dame, get yourself a heater!! Sometimes those corporals don't get there on time!!
So they’re basically blaming this lady for murder because she was dating two different guys? Will come along way and some areas.
She was fleecing them both out of their money by lying to each that she loved them - causing a jealous reaction & a shooting death of one & the suicide of the other. That's a bit MORE than "dating" two guys.

Candy Matson may just be the worst written and performed of all radio mystery shows. In my opinion.
Her little toy voice is annoying.
Sorry.
I love her voice and I love the shows! To each his own I guess!
@steve757 That's true!
Just compared to most of the other old time radio shows, I don't think it's up to most of the one's I love.
Cheers, my friend!
