I know the boat. I’m retired now and don’t do that work anymore but am happy to see there are still people willing to throw a ton of money at an old wooden boat. As I remember the original engine had a cast bronze block.
We're very fortunate to have such a dedicated owner. She's not only saving the boat but playing a major role in keeping the art alive!
It appears you have a good crew. But I'd keep an out for Wrongway "Silver Pants" Feldman.
Love this find 🇫🇷🤗
Keep up the incredible work, ladies and gentlemen.
Interesting explanation on the copper.
James knows his stuff!
I've been following the Tally ho project and just discovered this one. 40 years ago I was doing this type of boat work and loved it and lived aboard also. I'm living my former life vicariously now it seems. I'm 78 now and age is slowing me done. Seems I've found another great channel to follow.
Welcome onboard, glad to have you. A few of us on the crew are liveaboards!
No is this the first or second episode I like what I see so far. I watched the ship built of tally ho. I watch the ship built Akron to Annabella. So I'm looking for more shipwright stuff.
The guitar is going to be a deal breaker for me. Hopefully it gets taken out. 💯🙏🏻
🫡
We’ll switch to air guitar from now on 🫡
The algorithm brought me here. Hail the algorithm!
#TallyHo
Welcome!
At what point is a boat trash? lol , I can’t believe the amount of work you guys do 👍🏻🍻🇨🇦prince Edward island Canada here .
Where abouts in pei?
Hopefully your channel as big Sampson co
Make sure to share it with everyone and maybe one day 🤞
Hey that was interesting. The video could use a dynamic sound track, maybe something to stir the imagination of the places and times when the ship sailed. .
Great suggestions, we will be involving more of that type of content as the project goes along, there's a lot of history that we'd like to include in the videos. :)
Cool project, glad to have found you! I'm a surveyor, boatbuilder and merchant mariner from the east coast US. Love watching these restoration projects
Welcome onboard, glad to have you watching!
Yes, Leo brought me here.
Welcome!
Is that Leo from Tally Ho?
J’espère que vous avez recyclé tous les matériaux ferreux et non ferreux,ça paye une partie des travaux!
It's sad to see such an attractive boat in such poor condition, 5 million dollars later it will be beautiful.
Soon she’ll be back to her former glory 😌
Many years ago I had the chance to buy a large wooden sailboat for the price of the new equipment that was installed 2 years prior, the sailboat wasn’t taking water but after careful inspection and diving to inspect the hull , it was past due to be refurbished.
So it wasn’t a good deal at all or only to take off all the equipment and install on an other sailboat.
I still think you fine gentlemen are nuts for going to such measures to resurrect the North Star unless you have a deep pocket owner who doesn't want to know the cost, just giter-done. Just seeing the rot on this poor lady makes me ill sometimes. Of course I'll still watch : )
We’re a very lucky crew to get the opportunity to bring this vessel back to life, and we’re all a little bit nuts 🤪
Think i found the next boat restoration series to watch
Glad you found us! ⛵️
I wonder what kind of pizza they had ?
I am from Nanaimo and i definitely had to subscribe {just a few hours up island from this place},good to see local history preserved
And secondly whats the dogs names?😅
Greetings from shelter island 👋🏻
The big fluffy one is Atya, the small chihuahua mix is Karen and we have a terrier named Ghillie, plus a lot of other dogs visiting here and there 😃
😂 eillbe looing forward to the next episodes 😅@@FavouriteBoatworks
Cool project. We need more real restorations with real tradies , Not miss blossom changing out a bilge pump, cant believed I watched that??, Leo's boat tally ho is not far off what to watch next, wish you all the best.
Finally a word from Lyle! Super cool 😃
Is that tar reinforced with asbestos??
Possible but unlikely. I’m p sure asbestos is harmless unless it’s a certain particle size and air born.
That's the same boatyard that Magic Carpet is undergoing refurbishment.
It is! They’re just down the yard ☺️
I'll check future videos to see if the music stops.

A very interesting project. I'm waiting for the next video. I keep my fingers crossed for success. Greetings from Poland
Greetings! Great to hear we've got friends cheering us on all the way from Poland! Dziękuję!
@@FavouriteBoatworks That's right, I'm in the process of renovating an inland yacht that I bought. The yacht is from 1983 :) and I also have some work to do. Regards.
Hi guys, wow keep up the wonderful work. Can’t wait to see the transformation on this restoring of this wonderful yacht/boat I’ve been watching tally Ho and they’re just about to go into the water. Can’t wait to see you that some people are carrying on about the restoration saying you are putting a lot of high-tech electronics on board what you gotta do it today for insurance etc etc and stay safe same people got no idea anyway keep up the good work love the videos. Good to see you’ve made a big lot of progress so far Cliff from Logan City , Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
Welcome to the channel, glad to have you here! Lots of new technology that is available these days for safety, I'm sure the owner of North Star will want some of that once the vessel has been restored. :)
Yet another Tally Ho project. Nice to watch and follow along.
Hope you enjoy it!
Subbed in from Sampson boatworks. Wouldn't mind stopping by occasionally since I live on the North Arm it's just a 5 minute drive.
Feel free to come by after 4.30pm on workdays :)
As a wooden boat owner with pending restoration, I’ll look forward to the next video.
Take it to us and we'll lend you a hand
Two wooden 13.5’ Bigelow Wenaumet Kitten (catboats) are in my Florida garage. Since these boats were designed and built by my great grandfather, I’ll be hands on.
@@danielsondavidf Beautiful boats, we're jealous! What kind of work are you doing on them?
Replace steamed frames, replace transoms, build new mast, caulk and paint.
Looks so satisfying. I want to peel and scrape things all day! 😂
You're welcome to come help out 😅
Love watching this work. Big job to be done.
Your video brought back memories of working on my 70 ton oak hulled Danish ship. Labours of love! Great work going on at the yard.
Sounds like a nice one, what year was it built?
1947 in Denmark. Worked as a fishing vessel before conversion to a gaff rigged ketch. Gribble was the curse of European waters, as of course was fresh water. Difficult to find huge oak beams of the right quality now. At least your softwood planks will be fast to caulk.@@FavouriteBoatworks
good to see it getting fixed.
Thanks!
You certainly have some work ahead of you. With this crew of skilled workers, I am sure we will all be amazed by the final product!
It's a fast moving crew and a fast moving project! We definitely hope you'll be amazed!
What is the location of this video; marina, local, state, etc. Thank you.
We're at Shelter Island, British Columbia
OH YEAH !!!
😃😃😃
I wonder what the budget is for the restoration.
Who’s paying for this?
North Star has a loving caretaker that is funding the rebuild to preserve the vessel
Why bother?
The boat holds significant historical value both for Canadian history and for the Inuit, the owner deems that history worth saving.
👍!!!
😃
Are you now qualified for putting up a circus big top?
Oh 100%, need one up?😜
What is the hurking c arm machine in opening? Band saw?
It’s an antique “ships saw”. It allows u to cut a rolling bevel with large Timbers keeping the timber on a flat table (not sliding down a sloped table). The band saw rotates around the table making the job much easier.
One day your gonna drop start that chain saw ,it Wii kick back and take your face of , I’ve seen it happen ,start it proper if you like your face mate
What will you do with the old copper ?
Excellent channel/episode!
Thank you!
