Looks like baby squirrel number 4 took a real liking to you. He/she was staring at you the entire time. I totally agree with your statement that patience is key when dealing with squirrels. I saw my first spring juvenile squirrel this morning. I know I’ve probably been feeding his parents for the last 5-7 months.😊❤️🐿

I love watching your videos. People view squirrels as pests but I love and appreciate them. I go to the park every couple of days to feed about 10-12 squirrels. They see me coming and are getting to know me very well. 🥰🙂 It's the highlight of my day!

We have a baby squirrel too. It will sit on the little chair where the dried corn cob sits. I wet it the corn so it’s easier to chew. Sometimes the baby will chase off the adult squirrels….so entertaining for us.
My younger dog has an arch nemesis squirrel that lives about a block away. She comes down the tree trunk every time she sees us approach, then she scurries just out of reach as we get near. I think both animals have come to enjoy the game!

Yesterday, I walked outside to see a squirrel scamper down a tree in my front yard. I was horrified as she ran into the street just as a car was approaching. Instantaneously, her hind feet went into the air and came back down, she jumped up while doing a perfect 180, and ran back up the same tree all before that car even passed. I breathed a huge sigh of relief, and threw a few pecan-halves for her to enjoy.
Yeah, just this morning I was walking along the street and a baby black squirrel was slinky-ing across the road and down came a Kestrel, a Sparrow Hawk - at the last second, though, the hawk turned away, maybe because I was too close. The little guys are sometimes lucky!
They are so adorable. Their sweet faces just melt my heart. I hope and pray they all survive and live a long healthy life. Thank you for helping these precious animals survive. All of God’s creatures need our help. God bless you my friend. Love from Tennessee. 🥰🐿

My parents' house had a huge Magnolia tree in the backyard, and we had a family of squirrels living somewhere up in the branches. My parents started feeding them shelled peanuts, and leaving them right in front of the back porch door. When the weather became warmer, we'd open the back glass sliding door, close the screen door, so we could get fresh air. Well, the squirrels chewed a hole in the screen door, and one day, one of the squirrels came in and went straight for the box of peanuts! I closed the dining room door leading to the living room (and our cats), and shooed out the squirrel. Once the squirrel was outside, I scolded the squirrel, saying that it wasn't worth risking being hunted by two cats, and promised to leave plenty of peanuts outside, just don't come inside! They never tried again after that.
Besides how cute this little kid is, I love how it said, "I prefer almonds."
So cute, with their little tails up in the air twitching as they try to access the situation 😊 little characters, some trying to take more than one, and a few succeeding! ❤

I’m loving the baby squirrels. Unfortunately I did already lose one. A hawk came through my tree and grabbed it. It was sad. Another squirrel cried in the neighbors tree for a hour. Broke my heart. As mean as it is to say, I’m just glad it wasn’t my mommas babies. I’m so happy you got to feed one, and one felt comfortable enough to hang out for a few. That’s a huge step. I hand feed mom as her babies watch, then she gets a drink and goes to lounge, that’s when I put food by the water for her babies. Momma is kinda greedy and a big girl! She don’t share nuts well, but doesn’t care about fruit. So I found a way to feed them all at once. Thanks for sharing the babies.

I loved it when we could see the baby’s faces straight on as they hold their nuts in their sweet little hands to eat. Every time they glance up towards the camera, my heart just melts

It's almost like the babies know you already. Maybe word got around in the community about the best eats in the neighborhood. Hopefully with your care & devotion they'll have many years ahead.

We have three babies this year as well. They stay close to small tree near my home office window, most of the day. I feed them, and their mothers as well. They seem to have been warned about the feral cats, who love to "hunt" for birds and squirrels in our yard.. Fortunately, I've only witnessed "practice" hunting so far.. These guys are plenty skittish, so I'm hoping "millions or years of evolution" will serve them well !!! Take care, and again thanks for sharing your bounty with us...

Bit of a sad story and especially concerning the survival rate of baby squirrels per year. We once had a baby squirrel get stranded under neath our back porch awning and it was being terrorized by the family cats.
I did my best to try to catch it to release it onto the nearby tree. I was attempting to safely trap it in a box with some seeds. It fled to the other side of the porch and dropped down onto the porch screen. One of the cats got after it and I tried desperately to catch the poor thing all the while trying to stop the cat from attacking it. The poor thing fell to the ground and scampered to the nearest tree and manages to climb up the base of it before the cat managed to nip it by the scruff of its neck jumped up on the fence then fled under the house where I could not reach it to save it. That squirrel's life was as good as gone. And I was in a state of misery for a good two weeks after.
The little critter had to be at least a month or so old. It was tiny, had its full coat of fur and a fluffy tail. I so desperately wanted to save it and release it back to its mother wherever she was. The problem is that my family home here has too many cats and this is not at all a safe place for such wildlife. I've since done my research on what to do about protecting such precious little creatures from the family cats.
please folks, if you have cats in your family that you let roam the yard and you care as much about the wildlife as I do, put bells on your cats' collars, feed them a decent meaty diet and keep them entertained enough with toys and laser lights just enough to dissuade them from chasing the critters in your yard. Unless of course you have them on a farm or inside your house with the soul purpose of keeping out the rodents.
And if your trying to rescue a desperate squirrel as I was attempting to do, first gather up the cats that are terrorizing it and close them up in a room in your house until the squirrel is safely up a tree away from the danger. I deeply regret not doing that. Save yourself the grief and heartbreak and heed my advise!
Cas are hunters by nature so feeding them in the hope they will not hunt is hopeless unfortunately

I do agree with you about life being something that’s worth protecting & helping where possible. It wasn’t really my intention to try & tell you what you should do. I know you’ll be vigilant & take good care of all your visitors. I just hope your experiences prove better than mine have been.
As for the email address, I’m not sure if it’s because I view through a phone app or not, but I often find with channels that say “email link in the About section” the link never appears for me when I go there. I’ll check again now, but if you don’t hear from me via email, only through the comments, I’ll have had no luck…

It wouldn’t be the first time TH-cam’s mobile device app was missing a feature. I’ve had so many discussions with people who can’t see the Community tabs on channels because they’re using a tablet, not a phone or a laptop/desktop & certain tablets can’t access it for some reason (even through their regular web browser!).

Otherwise it seems that they are all skittich, even Ellie, I wonder if spring has anything doing with it. You are absolutely right, patience & consistency are absolutely key in building trust & a relationship with any squirrel. It has to be very much on their terms. But you’ve certainly put in the effort & are rightfully able to reap the adorable rewards it brings 🤗🐿
I loved Ellie’s little head tilt when she came up & looked in to see how you were before she helped herself, & little baby number 4’s similar head movements while he was eating & watching you film him. It’s very obvious they’re not just there for the food - they seem just as curious & interested in your welfare as you are about them. There’s an actual bond they each seem to have with you. It’s a joy to see.

Yes, the baby squirrels are more naive and not as strong as the adults, so they are easier targets to predators.

I live in a rural area. Other night a cold front passed through and took down a 60 yr old white oak . Landed partially on one of my trucks , it was 6 am when I saw it. I look up to the big gap of sunshine comin through where the tree was and there's 7 squirrels having a total meltdown beside each other on a big branch because they can't jump through the trees without this monster that fell

The first time a chipmunk ate from my hand was a very eventful moment for me. The ultimate trust between animal and human. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a little wild creature run towards me knowing that I am there to give them food. 🙂

I built a chipmunk feeder, but we have a big grey squirrel that wants all the food, be it chipmunk food or bird food, it's all her food.
She even chases other squirrels away, but she's no match for the grackles who chase everything away.

When the babies come down from the nest in the oak tree out back of my place, usually in June, I watch them chase each other around from my floor-to-ceiling window. This year, one of them broke off in mid chase, took a sharp left turn and ran right up to me. I didn't have any food or anything. It was just curious - everything was so new, he wanted to check everything out. He stared at me through the glass for about 30 seconds, then went back to the chase. The chase, as usual, went on for about 2 hours and then they all took off for parts unknown, except for one who went back to the nest and cried. I told him it was all right to move out now, and a few minutes later, he did.

My friend Jump had a real tough late winter.. he is just 2..he lost most the fur on his tail..it was so cold and wet so late in season...prayers..dry berries corn peanuts..he looks much better..gaining his weight back. His tail is a funny bottle brush...he'll be fine🐿✨️

My sweet little mischievous girl squirrel that I was working with from being rescued, passed away. I’m just so heartbroken. 💔She held on tight to my finger with her little paws, right before she took her last breath. She hadn’t ever done that in all the weeks she was with me.

I’m pretty sure it’s the same thing we put on our cat only a strength for a chipmunk and a mouse. I don’t think we can treat the dears that come in the yard because that bait station would be really really big.

That really is funny.
But there’s more times than I can count when I’ve gone outside after dark and there are deer literally sitting right next to the house. The last time they were out there it was the fall and that male deer that was right there. His rack was huge.
