Hi. Thanks so much for watching! I interview throughout the year (whenever a student submits an application), but it won't be a "full in front of the class model" type interview. I'll interview individually during arrival, dismissal, recess (those type times where I can talk with that child one on one). I don't change jobs unless a child requests a change. Some children try a job and decide that it's not for them, so they'll "give me notice" and keep doing the job for a couple days or until someone else interviews and gets hired. They'll help train their replacement. Some jobs require more than one student, for example, I usually have two tech helpers and two pencil sharpeners and four teacher helpers. It flexes depending on the needs of our class and student ideas. Ideally, I hope that every child will end up with at least one job (and I may nudge that along by saying something like..."You're doing such a great job reminding your friends to push in their chairs when we line up. You would be great at a job like that.") Some children absolutely LOVE jobs , and the resulting pay days so they may hold multiple jobs, but often I limit that until everyone has a chance to apply. I usually don't let a child hold more than three jobs, and then they need to be ones that don't impact our learning or require less intensity, like "clinic escort", which only requires you escort someone to the clinic and drop off when needed (but you still get paid whether that is necessary that week or not). The only job that is not "hired out" is the "leader". Everyone gets to be leader multiple times throughout the year and we just take turns moving through our class list in alphabetical order. It's all about empowering children to take charge of our classroom and learning environment...once they do that, it's just a small step to taking care of his/her own learning. I hope that helps! Love to hear how it works for you. :)

Thanks so much for watching, subscribing and commenting. Here is the link to my Class Job application and Class Money template.
Links below should give you viewing rights and then you can File --> Make a Copy
On the money, just change the text to match your schools reward system and/or nickname. Over the years, I have used Bronco Bucks, Tiger Tokens, Bullock Bucks, etc.
