- I thought uploading a few full raw runs and adding live text coments to them would be a good idea to show what's on my mind when I fly 7" Freeride, and what you should try and think about if you wanna try it yourself !

I have a DJI FPV. I can tell you that I would have lost signal to the controller 100x had I flown where you are flying.

That being said I always managed to recover it with GPS Telemetry and hiking, never left a single one in the mountains so far !

Jesus Christ! Cheek clenching footage right there! Even with crystal clear Action 2 footage I wasn't able to tell if the path is clear or if there was an obstacle until it would've been too late. Well done! I still prefer to fly digital but I'd also never fly that risky lines.

Epic footage! I appreciate the dvr footage as well gives me a sense of quality and range in this type of shot question hypotheticallly speaking if you crashed coming down what would the protocol/steps be for drone recovery
Thanks man ! It’s not hypothetical because it happens and you have to be ready for it haha, most important thing is setting up RX telemetry to get GPS Coordinates on your radio, you can also log them in the sd card which is insanely practical. DVR is good to have but usually you’ll get telemetry even after loosing video, It’s good to have both to compare anyway. And then Autonomous buzzer to finish the job, you’ll hear it from a few hundred meters away depending on the environnement to know precisely where it is
@@platyfpv thanks for the explanation!!! So with the telemetry you would just walk towards where it crashed and hit the buzzer until you find it? Like pinging an iPhone? So in your situation would have needed to hike up the mountain to locate it if that were the case
@@FPVMETV yes exactly. The crash site accessibility is a whole other story but at least with the telemetry you’ll have a really precise idea of where it is to organize the hike

How important would you say your vrx is and is it worth it to get a rapidfire or something especially for long range or would good antennas be better?
That's a tough one, I'd say antennas matters the most because that's where you can get the biggest performance increase if you're short on cash, but having a good vrx also plays a lot in how clean signal will come out.

Do you use special LR antennas on your goggles? But it’s not about to fly that far. 1-2km mostly
haha thanks man, full setup is in description, Rush Tank Solo works like a charm. On the goggles you just need descent patch antennas, I'm using TrueRC MX2 Air.

awesome! watched the whole damn thing. do you have some smaller mountains nearby in order to practise? or do you have to drive a few hours to get to this kinda terrain? also that thing flies close to perfect man...
Thanks man, that was some 2-3h drive but nearest smaller peaks are like 35min away from where I live, that’s where I trained the most.
And yeah I agree I spent a bit of time tuning that thing. Also the Kayouloin with its squish X geometry helps sooo much to have a stable and smooth flying quad at such speeds compared to the Super G+ I used to fly before

about how much range do you have with your drone?
As explained on the video it depends and is limited by the battery setup. With some huge ass battery I could fly in straight line for some 10-12km but that's not the point here
