Thank you for this comparison, Kelly! Both editions are from the same company. AGM, AGM-Urania and Königs Furt (Königsfurt Urania) are all distributions of the same company in Switzerland: AGM AGMüller. I trimmed and edged (silver) my deck. It´s very hard to get the box-version or the purple edition and even harder to find a german version. But there is an awesome book called "Narrensprünge" (as far as I know only available in german though). Anyways. I think all versions are beautiful - because Margarete Petersen´s artwork is just stunning! xx

I've had my tuck box version for years and it's by far my favourite deck. But by some twist of fate I found the hard box version in a charity shop (thrift store) here in the uk. Couldn't believe it and it cost less than the new version does on amazon. I still can't believe it, I've been keeping an eye out for this version for years and ended up finding it by chance. Also, another difference I noticed when going through them both side by side is that the tuck box versions backs are all the same but on the hard box version the painting on the back is flipped card to card so they all look different. Love it x

So so so glad you did this video! Also, I thought I had sent you the guidebook as well, then just checked and realized I kept it after all. Now that I have the KONIGS FORT Edition I will send you the AGM Edition guidebook so you can have a back up of that too :) I did just compare them and the guidebooks have exactly the same content, though it is bound differently as you mentioned. Also, 100% agree after having both, the KONIGS FORT card stock feels SO good and while the AGM is not bad stock in any way, I MUCH prefer the KONIGS FORT stock, and edition overall.

The D-number is the post code. D stands for Deutschland (Germany).

I have the AGMüller version of the Margarete Petersen Tarot. Thanks for doing the comparison of both versions. I think the purple-ish version is gilded too or?

I don't know, now I might have to try and hunt one of the burgundy versions down :D Someone said they thought that might be the German version.

Thank you for this!!! I got the AGM and the Little White Book is just NOT what your perfect bound one is! I'm on a mission to get the right package in the book with the nice book and box!

Interesting comparison, thank you Kelly. :) I think the differences are so small so most people will enjoy either one of the editions! It's such a beautiful deck, and I really like the card stock. I just recently saw the edition with wine borders on instagram, very cool I must say, though for once I like this deck borderless! Maybe it's just the size issue though hmm...
But I often feel like an alien since I read card fronts and don't obsess over certain card backs and stuff. So maybe I'm wrong, maybe people should chase the back-borderless edition to not have a breakdown later. ;)

I completely agree that most people won't care either way and I would be happy to have either one as it is simply a gorgeous deck. But I'm pretty sure you aren't an alien and that everybody reads the card fronts ;) however, some people do like certain aesthetics to their backs or to their cardstock and that's a valid reason to want a certain edition, or they are simply collecting various versions. I personally don't care too much about cardstock even though I can appreciate a good one, others that is key for the feel of shuffling, we're all different lol, however I get emailed all the time about how to tell the difference when buying these two so I'm happy to show any differences I can find that might help.

I actually prefer the white borders on the backs. I know...sacrilege!! Lol.

Not a sacrilege at all! Both versions are gorgeous, I think for me it's because I had the borderless back first, I have an emotional connection to it :D

It drives me insane when an author/publisher issues many versions of the same deck! SHEESH!

    • @TheTruthinStory
      @TheTruthinStory  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well one (I believe the purple fronts) is the original German, the non border backs was, if I'm correct, the original English, and then the tuck is a reprint.

It still frustrates me as I am a collector.

Kelly - I think you're right about this! I think that what happened is that AGM bought out Konigsfurt, and then reissued the deck in the tuckbox... The Konigsfurt version is now OOP. But I have seen this ISBN number, identified with the two piece box: 9781572816725 ... and yet, that doesn't seem to be consistent. Dang! I'm really hoping to find the two-piece box, if anyone has a version. I already have the maroon German edition...

Since they have the same ISBN numbers:
At least we know, the non-bordered version: has the box with the word: Tarot on top, and then the words: Margarete Peterson on the bottom.
Thus, the bordered version has her name on top, and the below the word Tarot.
Sometimes, if you search for them on ebay, you can look for the pictures of the box and get the right version you want bordered or not. However, a lot of these sellers are in German, Polish or some other E. European language which makes it all the more difficult. I know there are some versions on Ebay right now that have the box shown that has non-bordered backs. However, that could be an auto-generated picture. Maybe google translate?

When I got my Margaret Peterson only assumed it was same as yours and didn't think anything of it till someone said something then I realized I had the tuck box version. I bought mine from Amazon through a second person buyer
