I have my knobs setting set to relative, so their position won't be of much use. The values aren't intended to be exact. Just tune to taste. Ideally, use the technique as a starting point and arrive at your own take on the sound.
@@Thoracius Right at 7:23 there's an edit where the filter knob is turned all the way to the right. I still had mine at the position it was in right before that, and wasn't getting the same effect you were, and needed it turned up all the way
Cowboy bebop vibe on that wurli.. my question to you friend. I’m new to producing, invested in a mpc live looking for my first synth. Can this lo fi an boom bap well or would there be another synth
Good question. Maybe somebody with a more indepth insight into the genre can chime in. I would think you'd want to go with sampling off of vinyl for classic production stuff, but yeah I think you can get some lo-fi and boom bapush sounds on the m freak.
Thanks! It's going to be included in the big update to my MicroFreak patch bank that I'm working on. I hope to finish and release it soon. But that patch is basically constructed exactly how I showed in the first half of the tutorial. You just gotta tweak it a bit to dial it in.

I don't think so. A real piano is such a complex and nuanced sound. On top of that the bass strings sound nothing like the treble strings or even the middle. I've never heard a convincing acoustic piano sound done on a synthesizer.
@@macaronafterparty nothing obscure. There's just this weird, busy, clip-art-y, baroque graphic of birds on the synth, so I put a piece of tape over it so it won't detract from the vibe when I'm playing with the synth.

5:20 Instead of modulating the cutoff, you can modulate the sustain to get a kind of tremolo.
