- Hurricane Milton weakened slightly Wednesday to a Category 3 after briefly regaining strength to a Category 5 storm Tuesday afternoon, making landfall near Siesta Key Wednesday night.
Milton brought powerful winds and a deadly storm surge near Sarasota County. The cyclone had maximum sustained winds of 120 mph as it hit the coast of Florida.
Well over a million people in Florida were without power according to poweroutage.us.
As Milton moves across the state, flash flood warnings have been issued in central Florida.

Dam, this is wild. Thinking about all the folks and families affected by this storm. We need to support each other as American’s through these tough times.
Agreed
@@okolona1like how ?stopping the natural storm 💀
The first step is to stop spreading lies, disinformation, and conspiracy theories that lead to people to get hurt, even killed, and then not get the help that htey deserve and need.
People need to stop fucking building homes in hurricane riddled areas. All of our rates are gonna sky rocket now… They are gonna rebuild just for this to happen again in a year or two… what’s the definition of insanity again?
I slept through it but part of my roof came off
Just weighing in from Houston. This summer we had Beryl, nowhere near this level of intensity or devastation, not even comparable, and we lost power for TWO WEEKS in my area (more in others). Yet here in Florida you have cities with six feet of water over the roads and twisted trees, BUT YOU STILL HAVE POWER. Texas needs to learn from your power companies. Praying for your state.
More importantly, Texans need to not put up with that anymore. As much as I don't like how the grid services work in many other places, the way these private power companies in TX handled the situation is a perfect example of why certain regulations and accountability is needed for public utilities (not that they have zero regulations in TX but you know what I mean).
there's 3.2 million HOMES without power.
@@JJFX- Exactly. Corporate money and power rule in Texas and override the needs of average citizens.
Y’all need a DeSantis!! I’m awestruck that we kept our power. Was literally watching transformers blow up in my backyard. Power surged several times but miraculously never went out.
It's my understanding that many power lines in Florida are underground which makes restoration of power much faster and efficient.
BTW, does anyone have any idea how electric cars fared vs gas cars? I figure both were used in the evacuation, and did one car type perform better than the other?
I wish for Florida a speedy recovery. I'm blessed to have left when I did.
Prayers for everyone in Florida! I live in California and my grandma lives in Orlando but she went to her friend in Jacksonville
Don’t waste your time💩🤭
🙏🏾🙏🏾 going out to all who were affected by this storm.❤

I can’t imagine having days knowing this storm is coming and hunkering down hoping it doesn’t hit as bad as they project it to hit. At least in Cali I didn’t know when the big earthquake would hit I just hoped I was good with God
When will these people realize they live on a giant sandbar.
Never! Also, all those trees they chopped down for housing developments were basically holding the land together so erosion will do a number no one can count
@@aliasfakename3159. You need a hill with some kinda grade to have erosion. Guess you don’t realize how flat it is here.
@@aliasfakename3159
And someone of authority saying you need to cut all the trees and do not grow because they are hazardous in a storm.
In Hawaii certain trees protected homes from the fire and some homes are still standing in Lahaina.
Keeping the people from Florida inn my prayers
I got out a long time ago,. But thanks 👍🏻
Probably shouldn't pray to the same god who supposedly flooded the whole planet killing everybody including little kids.
This is terrible. I live in California. We are so spoiled that a heavy rain day seems like a bad weather day. I hope everyone is ok!

Lord... Heal Florida, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee
Heavenly Father, I come before You with heavy hearts for the people of Florida and North Carolina, who have faced the devastation of Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene... I ask for Your healing and protection over every life that has been affected... Bring comfort to those who have lost loved ones, shelter to those without homes, and strength to the responders who are tirelessly working to restore peace...
Guide the communities as they rebuild, and let Your presence be a source of hope and peace in the midst of this storm... Grant them the courage to overcome, and the grace to move forward with faith... In Your mercy, Lord, we pray. Amen...!

the fact yall still have power is frfr a blessing. I remeber when houstn got hit they didnt have powwer for like 2 weeks
I know it’s gator 🐊 every where , I’ll be scare to walk around. Oh and snakes 🐍
I didn't even think about gators being in all of the water. That is a scary thought.
my prayers goes out to all of South Floridians who was heavy effected by the impact. Thanks for sharing.
They need serious politicians. The sentiment is nice but praying won’t change anything.
All I heard about was this storm for a WEEK. and then someone just flipped a switch and now there's nothing. Almost like the media was disappointed in the hurricane
1) There's still plenty of news about the storm--you're in the comment section in video with post-storm reporting, you dented waffle iron.
2) Much of the pre-hit storm news was telling people to get out of the way. Do I really need to explain why that's not needed now?

Just awful. Prayers for the great state of Florida and its citizens.
Sorry after watching Western NC, this was a big nothing burger of a storm.
Who seriously in their right mind chooses to live in Florida.
Not really that much damage. In my 81 years I've seen a LOT worse! yeah Andrew made all this look like a balmy day. Also remember that stupid people live in stupid places. In this day and age there's absolutely NO excuse for living ANYWHERE lower than 15 feet above MSL because google earth maps elevation. Also do not ride out a storm anywhere near tree fell distance. use the gray stuff, people (and if you don't have any find someone that does).
Satan may throw things at us , but by the grace of God , we will be strong. 🙏🙏🙏
Next time Floridians should elect serious politicians. They voted down beefing FEMA’s hurricane response capabilities and almost derailed the infrastructure bill. They also are gambling with climate change to divide people. Praying won’t help a thing.

The palm trees are really built for this weather. At least the skinny small ones. The devastation is heart-breaking.
What happens to people who need medication daily? Or people who have to go receive treatment daily in situations such as these?
The alligators don't make things any safer.
2:45 "Venice, Florida" may as well be Venice, Italy for all the waterways they got now
it's so funny how these news stations wish there was far more damage than there actually was.

Cleaning out storm drains would help the problems. No one can be seen doing that but meanwhile, millions of dollars in damage and homeless that could mostly be prevented by cleaning the drains. People need to look after their own streets before storms because the city can’t get to all of them. Protect yourselves and do a tiny bit of effort for your street.
I see what you're saying for normal flooding but this is different. Cleaning out the storm drains wouldn't help much if at all
@@skhotzim_bacon yes it would. There is not mass flooding everywhere. Just streets here and there in Tampa and surrounding areas. It absolutely would help all but a few areas.
@@thegreengoddess8850While keeping storm drains clear is definitely important for preventing localized flooding during regular storms, it wouldn’t make much difference during a hurricane. Hurricanes bring heavy rainfall, often several inches per hour, combined with strong winds and storm surges. This overwhelms drainage systems, no matter how well-maintained they are.
During typical rainstorms, clogged drains can cause water to back up and flood streets or neighborhoods, so cleaning them helps in those cases. But in hurricanes, there’s just too much water coming all at once. Plus, when rivers and lakes overflow due to the sheer volume of rain or storm surges pushing seawater inland, it’s not just about the drains - the water has nowhere to go. Even if the storm drains were perfectly clear, they wouldn’t help if the flooding is coming from rivers overflowing their banks, because the drainage system is already overwhelmed.
So while cleaning out storm drains is helpful in smaller storms, during hurricanes, the scale of the flooding is far beyond what any drainage system can handle.
Not one drone shot. These reporters and news channels need to get out of the stone age and upgrade 🤦🏼♀️
Thats was a pitiful excuse for a hurricane. We have some fat black girls up here in Alabama that produce more wind after a night of beering drinking.
