Crack the doors to flood the passenger compartment to reduce the buoyancy. Point the nose of the Land Cruiser slightly towards the flow. Second gear low range and don't stop. (You can see the vehicle skew every time the brake lights come on.) Even then you would have to have a top driver and a bucket full of luck. They had neither. Oh yes, make sure your front hubs are locked as well.
May ALLAH the almighty keep all of us safe from facing such situations. Aameen. Some of the Passengers might have been impatient, and others might have been blamed for being coward. There is a difference between being careful and being stupid.

It is actually inflated tyres which make the vehicles float at least when the tyres are half submerged. Fully submerged tyres will be most dangerous.
