- We stumbled upon a Snake Charmer with 3 Cobras in Sri Lanka who showed his flute skills on charming the snakes.
The art of snake charming is considered an ancient technique that is now believed to have risen in parts of India, particularly through healers that would show their ability to hypnotise the famous cobra. The act of snake charming would involve a healer housing a cobra within a basket and playing a pungi or bansuri (flute) with the snake almost transfixed upon the playing instrument. It i historically believed to be a magical or blessed act that many healers would display around their local communities.

This activity is btw illegal in India.
Snake don't have ears. They're deaf. But they hear in their own kind of way maybe through vibrations. Some says that cobras and king cobra are sensitive to sounds which makes them react to the sound of the flute but in real life, they're just mad/aggressive. That's why we never see any snake charmer do this to any types of snakes except cobras.
Pretty sure those snakes were defanged (and therefore harmless).

Don't think it makes them less dangerous since they emit venom from glands. A regular bite is considered to be more dangerous since they can give a higher dose rather than one of those single strikes.

Can cobras hear the music?
I found this online. The cobra isn't dancing to the music. Like all snakes, it is deaf, although they are able to sense sound, they lack the outer ear that would enable them to hear the music. They follow the flute that the “snake charmer” holds with their hands.

cobra can’t dance. they follow the master ‘s hand or cage lid . and they can’t bite either, bcoz (people who catch this kind of cobras) they remove cobra’s front teeth. . they never let them to grow that teeth.
