So interesting that Bartok wrote this austere, difficult music at the same time as his approachable Concerto for Orchestra. Wonderful performance by a master.
magnifique. I discovered you in istanbul many years ago playing here prokofiev 1, then I loved your scarlatti also, you are one of my favorite violin players ... all the best for you. greetings from istanbul
Menuhin, in one of his performanes makes a slight change in the first movement. I asked him why he did that and he told me. It was so long ago I forget the reason. But he said I had a good ear. It was many decades, however, before I followd up on that and started to compose.
Merci beaucoup chère Gaetane! Tu as toute mon estime et je continue de souvent t’écouter dans ton très bel enregistrement des œuvres de Pierné que tu m’as fait découvrir.
Me finks.... he likes dis song somewhat more...than anyone else... I fink u should listen to The Chronic. Its like, where Snoop Dogg made his name. Some chill tunes, for when youre feeling...well...y'know. Nothing against Noel Gallagher though. Respekt.
The performance is nothing but perfect. Only one thing scandals me, in the greek ethimological meaning of a stone that makes us fall. It's the great, huge croos posted in the place where the music piece is performed. Shall one be a silly christian believer to enjoy a piece composed by BARTÓK?
If you are listening to this while finishing Light from Uncommon Stars, I am as stressed as you are
I'm glad I'm not the only one. This music is wonderful
@@ellisbruxvoort5945 its just as conflicted and powerful as she describes it!
@@Zalmon135 Agreed!
Commissioned for $500. While dying of leukemia.
100%. Listening to it for the first time because of that book. Every bit as epic as described on the page.
Stunning performance! Thank you to “Light From Uncommon Stars” for leading me to this.
I had to find this after reading light from uncommon stars. Amazing how a book lead me here. Bravo!
for Miss Satomi…..
Having just read Light From Uncommon Stars - wow! And the fact that he's playing in front of a cross ✝️, makes it even better. Immersed.
Absolutely inspired!... Glorious. Second to none and better than most.... Mr Bartok would be extremely pleased I feel. Bravo Tedi Papavrami
it's quite nice to see so many people are here cause of light from uncommon stars
I Tempo di ciaccona 00:23
II Fuga. Risoluto, non troppo vivo 09:30
III Melodia. Adagio 13:51
IV Presto 20:02
That "wow" at the end, which comes before the applause, says it all... BRAVO!
This is an incredible performance of a masterpiece. For me the most difficult piece ever written for the violin. BRAVO.
So interesting that Bartok wrote this austere, difficult music at the same time as his approachable Concerto for Orchestra. Wonderful performance by a master.
Fantastic interpretation, It's sound like I have never listened to this sonata before!!!So different... personal.. Congratulations!!
everytime i listen to his performance i am wonderfully surprised.. violin could sound so angelic and elegant...
Wow, this music feels like a labirinth in this guy's hands
That fugue was unbelievable!
Ecco un artista autentico !
A great very violinist. Every great artist is alone!

Bravo cher Tedi!
The voices in the Fuga are so well-distinguished. Amazing performance.
He plays it like it is Bach solo.
Absolutely stunning.... I am trying to perform this incredible piece in a few weeks time.... the 'drawing board' beckons me back! Bravo.....
He hears the orchestra in this piece. Also, a very Italianate sound.
Absolutely amazing
C'est magnifique!
Absolutely amazing!
Superb!!!
Brilliant! What an incredible violinist!
This is great! Bravo
Simply fantastic!
Fantastic
That fuga!
Great performance, an artist with great integrity . Eric Shumsky
Maybe the violin sounds so good because he is the Master in playing it ?!
Genius
Una pieza vibrante y maravillosa.
Très bien ❤
Linda aprensentação. Música bonita e melancólico, de acordo com o sentimento em que foi composta na época.
Can anyone explain the lil nub he wedges between the strings around 19:55?
It is a mute. It dampens the sound of the violin
Me finks.... he likes dis song somewhat more...than anyone else...

Nothing against Noel Gallagher though. Respekt.
what did he put on the bridge for the last bit?
It is a mute. As Bartok wrote in the score…
It’s always someone from Asia or an eastern bloc country that’s make you question why you even picked an instrument…🤦♀️
