I’m so surprised at the comments about being upset that these items were taken apart and reused. Can’t we be a little more thankful that they weren’t thrown in the trash? That’s what most people do with them because they aren’t useable as is. At least she took the time and energy to repurpose them into something instead of just having them thrown away. If you don’t enjoy seeing old things repurposed then keep scrolling. No need to leave a complaint about someone else’s hard work not meeting your standards. Geez. She is always very responsible with her items. She rarely just throws things away but instead try’s to repurpose them in to useable items. All the pieces are just beautiful. Great job!
These turned out adorable but it just killed me to see these beautiful tables and sewing machines being disassembled, especially that first one as it was gorgeous just as it was. It's not easy finding these with everything intact and still usable. I would have LOVED to have had that first one!! My grandmother had one but I don't know what happened to it since one of my uncles took control of everything and us few girls didn't get to have anything of hers. My husband bought me an antique Singer table though and I just need to get a replacement belt for it, hoping I can get it working again. I think I'm probably just too sentimental and born in the wrong century, LOL!! ❤
Your not too sentimental at all. I wanted one all my life. Finally found an affordable one at age 63, 2 years ago at a church thrift store for $25 . Got a bottom piece only with glass top at age 16 at flea market, still have it. Also have steamer trucks and milk jug from my mother.
I loved the first one in it's original shape! I'd love to buy one if I can find one. My grandmother had one, my cousin was the lucky one who got it. Aren't they antiques?
I have one here in Australia. Mine has the pretty carved drawers, 3 each side. Still in perfect working order. I love it 😊 I have often thought about using it as a bathroom vanity but like you I just couldn’t do it.
Breaks my heart to see what you have done to these beautiful heirlooms. I still use my mother's that she bought in 1939 and the stitching is still perfect.
What a wonderful way to repurpose a dear antique that would otherwise never be loved again. The only value an antique has, in my opinion, is to be used in whatever form it needs to serve.
Dear Mary , I am sorry I was so heart broken to see this beautiful cabinet and Machine taken apart! This one was so Beautiful and had so many Wonderful Details! I wish you could of used one that was already to far gone, or pieces you find at thrift stores or garage sales. Tables were nice. Just very sad!
We didn’t have complete Singer cabinets but had two cast iron bases. One of the legs on my oak dining table broke and was irreparable and my husband and one of our sons attached the two bases to the oak table top and it looks amazing. It actually made the dining table cabinet height but we bought 6 stools from Wayfair and it is so nice. I know for a fact the legs will never break again.
Wow that turned out great. Reminds me of my aunt’s sewing machine. She was gifted a singer sewing machine when she was young girl and she sewed her wedding dress on it. As an old woman her children kept trying to buy her a new electric sewing machine. She always refused,; she said she knew what she was doing on her singer and moving the treadle up and down was good exercise.
As lovely as yours are, I could never be able to do anything with my grandmother's treadle machine. Hers is a FREE brand and she actually willed it to me when she passed away at 104 years old. She actually used it until she was 100. I use mine as a sideboard but with the machine still inside.
Years ago I removed the drawers/frame from an old sewing machine cabinet and installed it under an upper kitchen wall cabinet. Perfect vintage look, and the drawers held scissors, tape, glue, stapler, mending/repairing supplies and tools like screw drivers, etc., kitchen thermometer and other less-used tools. For the base, I sprayed the iron pieces cream and added a slab of creamy marble (we lived in the Philippines where they have beautiful marble, cheap!). This piece serves me daily as a unique desk to which I added a beautiful vintage chair. I always keep the desk clean and tidy and placed it like a sofa table behind our leather sofa. Occasionally the chair is stored elsewhere, the desk is cleared and it serves as a dessert table for mealtime get-togethers. Beautiful what you did with these three! *hugs* Mrs. Kelley Dibble
Dear Mary, I have been watching you for a couple of years.I do a bit of crafting etc but was kinda at a stand still for lack of power tools or knowledge of how to use them. My wonderful husband for Christmas bought me a Dewalt drill and sander. His family were home builders and he has so much experience. His drills are large and hard for me to handle with my arthritis. The new drill is lighter. I haven’t used the sander yet but I’m stripping a table from the 1930’sfor my granddaughter and it will be so useful. You inspired me to want to tackle this and he listened. I’m from the Ozarks and have loved watching you and your beautiful home and family!
Those Singer sewing machines are literally 100 yrs old-so they are true antiques! They look so nice now! I really love the black iron and the natural wood! I want one now-lol
I loved this transformation!!! My mom was a seamstress and had always used the foot-pedal Singer & I’ve always would have loved to have it. But because she lives back in the Azores, I wasn’t lucky enough to get it. Instead, my niece kept it. But, I’ve always loved what people come up with old sewing machine tables. I’m always on the hunt for some!😄. One day…. Thank You for the inspiration! Absolutely loved it!
The first Singer is an exact replica of mine. It belonged to my dad's mother. She taught me to sew barbie doll clothes on it when I was in grade school. Now, 50 years later, it's a Plant stand in my great room. I don't have the heart to take it apart. I even have the little oil can and her old wooden spools in the drawers. 💜
I’m so glad you shared this. I have to say you n John did a beautiful job at changing this old Singer sewing machine around. I’m also happy you used the drawers n what a look idea you did with them. Looks like it was made that way. As for the Singer emblem I wouldn’t of noticed that it was crooked until you mentioned it. A true treasure it is! I found a set of 3 drawers from a old sewing machine. I used from way back at Michaels some finals turn them upside down n glued them to the bottom of the drawers n it stands beautifully. Of course I kept the wood that holds the dray together to make. I painted it n distressed it. To this day I still get compliments on it. It really turned cute. I also took a couple of the drawers without the frame n put legs on it n use it for my mail carrier. I just how yours turned out. Thanks Mary. His Blessings I wish for you. Happy New Year to n family. ♥️♥️😊👍👍👍a
All of your sewing machine remakes came out beautifully! I remember my grandmother sewing on her old Singer treadle machine. What nice memories- recycled. Lol 😆
Oh wow! These pieces are beautiful. I love love old Singer sewing machines and it broke my heart a little to see them taken apart. But, you and your husband made beautiful pieces with them. I love watching your videos and hope to travel to your area some day soon.
I have had a Singer Sewing cabinet table for 38 years that I got at a flea market in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s one of my favorite furniture pieces in our home! You do beautiful work!
Oh Mary & John, This table is magnificent! I have seen a lot of these types of makeover tables, but none as totally awesome in design as this one! Bravo! Bravo!
So beautiful. Turned these wonderful tables into something that can be used and left the Singer label on. My grandmother would have loved this. She had a Singer, loved to sew. I wish I had learned crocheting from her, she made beautiful things. Thank you 🧵🪡
Your house is so beautiful and I love watching your projects you do and your recipes. It is nice to see you and your husband working together. Thank you for sharing with us.
It's cute. Broke my heart watching it taken apart. I had one I sewed on through the 70's 80's and 90's till someone broke in to our home and took everything while we were on vacation. I kept it in mint condition and used it almost every day. Haven't been able to find another working one 😞. Yours did turn out cute. Would be awesome in a sewing room.
I was gifted two of those metal bases a few weeks ago. The ones I got were fairly rusty from sitting in a garage for years. Cleaned them up and repainted them and added a little gold rub n buff over the Singer and symbols on the sides… look good as new now. Stained a couple of pieces of live edge boards for the tops and made them into matching end tables for my family room. Loved your ideas!
Our house that was built in the 30’s has a built in bench booth in the kitchen. It had an odd table top that was on a hinge attached to the wall. That finally broke, so my Dad took the table top and attached it to the Singer base that was his grandmother’s. It’s such a cool piece. It’s one of my favorite things in our home!
I love this older sewing machines, but if it doesn’t work and keeping to much space around the house. Mary you and John absolutely did a great piece of furniture with the sewing machine. It turned out beautiful, I love it.💕👍🏻👏🏼
This just adorable! I am from the Prairie of the Midwest, these old machines are everywhere, and no one really wants them. They can be had for less than 10 bucks sometimes, and no one buys them at auctions. Maybe if people saw this video they would look at them twice, lol. I sure did. I have two, I might have to try this. Good job you guys!
I enjoyed seeing you and John working together on this project ! The way each piece turned out new masterpieces in there own right marvelous ideas. Well done!! ❤
I really like what you have done with the drawer idea. I don't think I would have ever come up with that. I have my husbands grandmothers. I had to strip it years ago and it is in great shape. I just have it in my office. The added black around the drawers really set it off. Thanks Joyce
The one with the top and bottom left as it was is the best. My husband made me one and I used it as a dressing table. After he passed I had someone break in my home and they left only my bed and dresser took the dressing table. They took almost all my photo albums and furniture. Sad but they didn’t take the memories.
I think that everything turned out lovely. I would use this in my house. In response to upset people feel. It is their cabinet to do as they please with. To each his own.
This is beautiful. Your work is beautiful. I have one my grandmother used. She would very much have approved of your transformation. Out with the old in with the new she always said. Its beautiful!
Mary I learned to sew on a old Singer my Mother had. It's still in the family but one leg broke at the bottom and was welded but it broke again. I still love that old machine as it brings back wonderful memories of my Mother .
Tell me this wasn't an antique?, I couldn't bare to watch this so I stop, but then I came back to watch the rest. It came out really nice thanks for sharing this with us.
I appreciate the fact that you don’t say, “get it all done” in your titles. That phrase makes me feel like I fall short if don’t get everything accomplished in a day. I find your channel to be motivating & inspiring. Blessings…😊
Really enjoyed this video. What a great way to preserve things from the past. I have my great grandmother's, with the original receipt in the drawer. Very special to me.
I am in tears! I love old sewing machines and this looked like it would or could work perfectly. What did you do with the machines? I also love the old sewing notions! Sorry this was a big fail for me.
These all turned out wonderful! So creative with parts. My in-laws are so good to help people with down sizing and cleaning. They have "inherited" several of these tables. The local marble counter top dealer has created table tops for them with the scrap pieces. Very nice finish.
These are very popular in my area. I have two of them. One has glass on top and I use this one in my sunporch as a small "sofa table' behind a chair. The second one I have in my living room with a rustic wood top that I use as a plant table. I love the vintage look and practicality of these tables. I have never seen them with the drawer attached, how interesting!
I have an antique Singer sewing machine and the cabinet is in beautiful condition. I use it in my living room just as it is as a side table. I don't think I could take it apart like you did but I do love what you did with that machine table. If you needed it to be smaller, that is the perfect change. I just couldn't do it.
Dear oh dear Those machines clearly were going to be gotten rid of. Mary & John rescued them and gave them a beautiful new life! The item is still there they have just cleaned it up and made the item useful again. I can't believe all these comments and uproar.. You all know Mary loves antiques and if the pieces had of been intact & working well I'm sure they wouldn't have been touched! Mary resells in her booth so chances are most of the people jumping up & down will get offended over something being re made useful again. I personally think they made a exceptional job on bringing old, unused, damaged items back to life with a incredible upgrade... great job Mary & John.
Oh my goodness, that was a blast from the past; my mum had the exact same singer machine and cabinet. When I was learning to sew I struggled to get a rhythm on the treadle but I wish I still had it.
Mary I think these are among some of my favorite projects you've done. So nice to see you and John working together. Thank you for always being a positive inspiration.
These are stunning, especially the second one. Well done. You have made them into something practical and very current that would suit so many differently styles homes. X
Oh Mary...I own that exact first 100 year old Singer you worked on. I have to admit that it hurt my heart a little to see you take it apart! But...I never thought of using my Annie Sloan clear wax on mine so thank you for the great idea! I loved what you and John made from them and the very last table was my favorite!
Oh marry these turned out gorgeous!!! I think my favourite is the little one where you painted the drawer sides black and had the barn wood top!! Gorgeous
I love how you bring old things back to useful. It makes me sad for old furniture to sit in someone's basement for years....just sit there. Bring it out, make it useful and make someone else smile. Love it! Your projects are gorgeous as usual!
You both are such a great team and so creative! I love all of these! I’m sure now that John is working from the home you both will be unstoppable in creating these unique furniture pieces together!
All of the projects turned out so cute. I have a table that my husband made for me with a singer sewing table. I also have a singer sewing machine table that my mother in law gave me. You provided me with several ideas on what to do with it.
I could cry - these treadle machines are antiques.
OHMYGAWD!!! You DESTROYED it.
It does hurt my heart to see that beautiful natural wood covered with paint.
Guess I am old fashioned but I think old sewing machines are perfect without any changes.
Yes! I would love to find an old one and leave it just like they are!!
Yes, agree
Yep, I think you are right and painting the old wood is a no, no.
I’m so surprised at the comments about being upset that these items were taken apart and reused. Can’t we be a little more thankful that they weren’t thrown in the trash? The cabinet and machine looked like they were still good, quilters all over the country would have loved the cabinet and machine as is.

I agree! I, too, would love to have owned it in its original form. How sad to destroy a piece of limited history.

Nooooooo! That is an antique over 100 yo and is still functional! I just can’t! 😭😱🤭😧😭
Dear Mary , I am sorry I was so heart broken to see this beautiful cabinet and Machine taken apart! This one was so Beautiful and had so many Wonderful Details! I wish you could of used one that was already to far gone, or pieces you find at thrift stores or garage sales.

Oh my golly that is the best remake of a antique sewing machine cabinet I’ve ever seen.
The black/stain drawers reworked w the legs is the best rehab of an old sewing machine base I've ever seen!
Wow that turned out great. Reminds me of my aunt’s sewing machine. She was gifted a singer sewing machine when she was young girl and she sewed her wedding dress on it. Wish I could see a picture of your Free machine. I have one that I'm restoring.
Love how you turned an old sewing machine into the table and drawers for more usefulness.
That is a beautiful table! Singer lives on...❤
You’re such a dear heart. Love all 3 Singer pieces. Nice to see John and you working side by side 😍
Absolutely beautiful I think the singer being a little offset actually adds to the character I'm in love and on the hunt to do one of my own.
Years ago I removed the drawers/frame from an old sewing machine cabinet and installed it under an upper kitchen wall cabinet. No longer considered antiques because they have been redone.
Made me want to cry. That was such a beautiful cabinet. I restore them. There are lots of people who collect and use them

♥️♥️😊👍👍👍a
Loved it in its original condition!
Oh my word. I am in tears watching your first project. My Nana taught me to sew on that model in 1973! Bless you!
All of your sewing machine remakes came out beautifully! I remember my grandmother sewing on her old Singer treadle machine. What nice memories- recycled. Lol 😆
All new ideas from what I've seen, and so glad you kept the Singer piece on the first one.
Oh wow! These pieces are beautiful. I love love old Singer sewing machines and it broke my heart a little to see them taken apart. But, you and your husband made beautiful pieces with them. I love watching your videos and hope to travel to your area some day soon.
I have been collecting old sewing machines for year's. I make end tables out of them. Or console tables. I love them. Thx for your ideas ❤🌺❤
Adorable and charming table. So glad you kept the piece featuring Singer.
I build these every week. I’ve done at least 27. I make entrance tables out of them. They sell great. Great job. 👍🤓
I have had a Singer Sewing cabinet table for 38 years that I got at a flea market in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s one of my favorite furniture pieces in our home! You do beautiful work!
Someone ready Saud what I wanted to. Truly enjoy seeing you and John working together
Oh my heavens 😳 I LOVE the one where you painted the frame black & left drawers stained!! Fabulous!
Oh Mary & John, This table is magnificent! I have seen a lot of these types of makeover tables, but none as totally awesome in design as this one! Bravo! Bravo!
Love all the remakes of the sewing machines.
So beautiful. Turned these wonderful tables into something that can be used and left the Singer label on. My grandmother would have loved this. She had a Singer, loved to sew. I wish I had learned crocheting from her, she made beautiful things. Thank you 🧵🪡
I watched my grandma make a lot of things on her singer sewing machine...I love it, great job

Nice seeing the family working together. I did the same to an old singer. Gave the machine to a woman who had a table but no machine. It worked out.
Great remake on the sewing machine….nice to include the name SINGER ! They look wonderful !
That is just gorgeous! The recipient of the gift is very lucky.
My favorite is the brown and black table. My Mom loved her Singer and she would have loved this Singer table
I love this older sewing machines, but if it doesn’t work and keeping to much space around the house. Mary you and John absolutely did a great piece of furniture with the sewing machine. It turned out beautiful, I love it.💕👍🏻👏🏼
These are Beautiful we have my husband's Grandmother's Sewing Machine like these What a Great Idea live these❣
This just adorable! I am from the Prairie of the Midwest, these old machines are everywhere, and no one really wants them. They can be had for less than 10 bucks sometimes, and no one buys them at auctions. Maybe if people saw this video they would look at them twice, lol. I sure did. Lori, I agree they work so well together! ❤
I really like what you have done with the drawer idea. I don't think I would have ever come up with that. I have my husbands grandmothers. I had to strip it years ago and it is in great shape. I just have it in my office. The added black around the drawers really set it off. Thanks Joyce
I love all of the different ways to reuse the parts of these sewing machines. ♥️
They turned out beautiful, I especially liked the one without the drawers! ❤️❤️
Luv luv the end result of all three cabinets! The white distressed with the paper top and drawer liners 👍💛
Great re-purposing of an antique Singer sewing machine!
So creative, really love your ideas and it's great to see your husband helping you.
I am in tears! I love old sewing machines and this looked like it would or could work perfectly. What did you do with the machines? I also love the old sewing notions! Sorry this was a big fail for me.
The table turned out beautifully. And yes, the “Singer” added so much character to it. 🥰
Hi Mary. I LUVED all ur sewing machine projects! Luv the industrial look. And I LUVED c ing u and John working together. Beautiful!
I love how you repurposed, actually made useful again, these cabinets yet kept the integrity of an old sewing machine cabinet.
Table looks lovely!!! Good job guys!!!!
I have an antique Singer sewing machine and the cabinet is in beautiful condition. I use it in my living room just as it is as a side table. I don't think I could take it apart like you did but I do love what you did with that machine table. If you needed it to be smaller, that is the perfect change. I just couldn't do it.
I really like the first stand, and the one John made. Great ideas.
I personally think they made a exceptional job on bringing old, unused, damaged items back to life with a incredible upgrade... great job Mary & John.
I so enjoyed how you edited the woodworking part of the video. So relaxing. I haven’t finished watching it yet, I just had to comment.
Absolutely love this, you did an amazing job. Love old singer machines for furniture pieces. ❤
I love the tables, so cute. Yes I love that you were able to use the Singer emblems.
Mary this is Miss Dotty that's genius you're a genius it's really nice that look nice in any one time I love it
These are stunning, especially the second one. Well done. You have made them into something practical and very current that would suit so many differently styles homes. X
Hi Mary,
The singer machine turned into the table is great
You and John did a awesome job👍🏻
Omg love the idea of putting the drawers below the top
Oh Mary. These turned out so beautifully. I love them. You and John did an awesome job. Hugs from Arizona.
BONUS is the right word!! Great idea - clever and cute!!
Well done Mary and John. The three tables are beautiful.
You both are such a great team and so creative! I love all of these! I’m sure now that John is working from the home you both will be unstoppable in creating these unique furniture pieces together!
Absolutely beautiful. I have a similar one my daddy made years ago. He was a wonderful carpenter
Unique idea for old sewing machines!
Love all your projects ❤ always loved the old sewing machines
All of the projects turned out so cute. I have a table that my husband made for me with a singer sewing table. I also have a singer sewing machine table that my mother in law gave me. You provided me with several ideas on what to do with it.
Absolutely genius and such charming new versions of those cabinets.
