Hi Lucas. I finally subscribed tonight (meant to earlier). Loved the Squat//Dead-lift video. I am built similar to you (not quite as big) - So I loved the squatting tips about using speed. Also being built similar I noticed you lean slightly forward when Squatting like I do. It was interesting watching how you really emphasis your pronounced upright stand-up in the Dead-lift, very similar to way I trained when I still used to do Dead-lifts. It makes me feel good about the way I trained/train. I am also impressed at the lack of sweating or how you were not that much out of breath after those heavy azz sets - It just shows how good of cardio shape you are in for your size. I see you getting on the podium at the Shaw/SMOE show - to win it would be amazing, but a podium finish would still be da bomb! Can you or someone tell me what the exact weight is of the Squat Barbell used, it looks heavier than the standard 45lbs.
@@TheSLK66 I don’t have the mobility to go thinner. You also see many heavyweight powerlifters go out wide like us. It likely isn’t the tightest setup, but it’s effective
FINALLY! A TRAINING VIDEO! Please, for the love of God, do more videos! You are a top-level strongman. Post like one! 😂
@@jordanmessner999 we are getting in a better rhythm these days. More to come as Shaw Classic gets closer for sure
Appreciate the warm up's, and descriptions between sets. Cant hit the weights you do, but can still take something informative away.
9:27 The bar hopping off your back at the top of that squat is wild
@@mufinmakesmusic1210 speed kills. I’ve been squatting with the goal of maximal bar speed in mind for close to 10 years now
I'll definitely have to incorporate that into my training

Ditto. I will be there this year. It cannot come faster....
I can't wait to watch the stream and see you compete at SMOE.
@@xxacidmv looking forward to it 🤘🏻
I WISH there was a strength gym near me here in NYC. its all commercial or a few crossfit but none of the cool stuff. I would love a strongman gym
Great session!!💪
Thanks, very good set, though I did wonder if the hamstring exercise was a joke?!
@@markevans4088 no not a joke as silly as it looks. It’s a common warmup with sprinters. Lights up the hamstrings, hips, and glutes in a unique way
2:03 sound like you got plungers for shoes, ready to run up a building😂
What kind of straps did you use for deadlift? And where can I get them?
@@awallner1 they are called W.O.W. (Short for “why our way”). They are hard to find, but you can find them on a few sites with a google search
Question, why do powerlifters favor a narrower grip for squats while strongmen (and sometimes bodybuilders) use a much wider grip?
Its mostly just a mobility/comfort thing, guys built like lucas cant have a narrow grip
