Should you play Odyssey in 2024?

I'm not offended, nor do I feel stupid when others hate AC Odyssey. I love the game for many reasons. It's not a perfect game, but I go back to it more than other AC games because of how fun the game is and the amount of content within it. Unity is an extremely fun game as well, but it's way too janky for me compared to Odyssey. Both do things differently, which is why I like Assassin's Creed. Wanna have the AC experience? AC 1, Unity, and Mirage are the best in that goal to me. Wanna explore the Caribbean as a Pirate assassin, the Aegean as a spartan mercenary proto-assassin, or as a viking assassin? Let's do it. AC has many different experiences throughout It's games, but they each rely on our own history to tell theirs. AC Odyssey is just as good as an entry point into the series as AC 1 or Unity. I want more people to enjoy Assassin's Creed as much as I do or at least some of the games. I think Rogue is the worst in the series. Still love it. I also think Bayek is the best protagonist in the series. Like what you like and give critical feedback. Don't be a troll like all these people with Star Wars: Outlaws. Give the game an honest review, not mindless hate. Thank you, exile, for keeping it honest and as unbiased as possible.

I love the combat in AC Odyssey because whenever I come across an enemy, I always gets a little adrenaline rush because you never know if you’re going to die in that battle. Plus, the enemies are always at your level

The “feeling” for me is a bit similar to the mom you mentioned. Odyssey was the first game I played, outside of a cod or rockstar game, in a decade. First and only game I platinumed. It opened up the whole world of RPG and other single player story games. Lead me to beating 4 FromSoftware games. Odyssey resurged my love for gaming so it’ll always be very special to me

I became obsessed with AC Odyssey over summer there. It was my first AC game so the comparisons to other AC games don't hit home for me. The game play, cool moves, historical figures and landmarks as well as greek mythology really made this game for me.

I understand what you mean by “the feeling.” I’ve experienced this with several AC games so far. AC4, AC Origins, AC Odyssey and most recently, AC Mirage. This doesn’t mean I dislike all the other AC titles, but rather they never stuck with me the same as those aforementioned four games. For example, I adore AC Revelation’s narrative, but the game isn’t one I often go back to play.

Parts of the story are good and I like to whack things in Odyssey. It's fun but that's pretty much the beginning and end of why I like it

AC odyssey's is that it's an assasin creed game... if it was marketed as anything else it would have been perceived differently... Odyssey was such an amazing experience especially if you are someone who is into greek mythology... hunting the legendary animals, playing detective to solve the clues to find all the cultists, hunting mercenaries were all so much fun and not even required to completw the story, all in all an amazing game

Hello I like how you made this video in an engaging way :) would like to share my thoughts as a casual gamer: (after mass effect, SWTOR, the force unleashed, and a few FIFA games haha)
With AC Odyssey being my introduction into ubisoft and the franchise, this game impresses me because of how immersive it is. It prioritizes portraying ancient Greece due to the many references I remember from school over what the overall AC story could be about I suppose. Like I just kept looking around at times and saying 'wow' a lot. I guess that's where the feeling could come from...
But I just know that I will only be able to do one playthough since it's too long. (130+ hours in) The game really pressures me to look into every area and quest just so I can get to a decent level (60 ish) where Kassandra's abilities and gear start to make gameplay more fun. Really other games have better versions of everything that AC Odyssey offers story and mechanics wise. Like switching between treasure hunting > mercenary killing > story > naval battles feels so disconnected and not seamless. But still I am glad this game exists and that they generally put a lot of effort into depicting ancient Greece

1:55 why is this bang on? almost all the books and game ive loved other ppl have shit on the game im pissed off, i absolutely love AC Odyssey and i think its the best AC game but then again its probably because im obsessed with ancient greece and greek mythology and this was and still is the only greek mythology game i can think of and i guess that gives me 'the feeling'

Me sitting here confused af by the comments about microtransactions. I've been playing this game for over 5 years and literally have never purchased anything in the game. Don't even know where you'd go to buy things or why you would ever feel the need to.

Odyssey had me playing for hours on end , the roaming boss or the fact you could straight up kill order members without even knowing, the choices that somewhat had consequences, Deimos as both alexios and kassandra was scary, the character models were wayyyy better than valhalla

I spent my whole summer playing this game non-stop hating everything about it but i kept playing it anways for some reason😂
Now i look back at it with some nostalgia, not for being good but rather a mix bag, some elements I enjoyed and other parts are still bad, its just become a game i love to hate while playing it to just past some time

Definitely playable in 2024! But with trainer, on PC, and with an RTX 3000 series card minimum. Trainer god mode is needed because of the messed up gearing system and scaling system. No matter how good gear you get or legendary, your opponents will be always better. That is the only thing I hated about it.

  • @DeadmansCreed
    @DeadmansCreed 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Before odyssey came out I hated on it like most fans for not having to do with the assassins. But when I played it I was completely hooked, the world especially, the story(although long and not the best), characters, playing as Kassandra. I do understand the criticisms it has and while it doesn’t involve the assassins, it does expand on the ISU. In all I’d describe odyssey as, being a good rpg game or Greece simulator but not a good assassin’s creed game.

The enemies are spongy mainly because you don't have the proper build. It's like in pokemon if you have a steel type pokemon and your using a normal type move it's going to take you forever to win

    • @brianmooreshead

One of the things that I found frustrating about Odyssey was there was way too much gear. Every second enemy you killed gave you more gear. I reckon I spent 25% of my time on the game in the menu screen just sorting out and upgrading and moving around and deleting gear.
What I liked in Origins was that if I wanted to take down a fort stealthily you could combine one hit assassinations with long range archery shots, which was really cool. Throw in the tools likes the blowdart etc it was fun. If I wanted to do that in Odyssey it was more frustrating because I found that if I wanted to combine assassinations and archery to take down enemies in a single area I constantly had to go into the menu and change the gear load out. It was only towards the end of the game for me when they brought in the option to have pre-set builds.
Even then, I think that's why I don't really enjoy these RPG type games. I feel like if you fire an arrow into an enemies head, that should really do for them most of the time. I find it really hard to buy into the idea that if I wear a one type of hat or set of bracers that I can one shot an enemy with a bow that I couldn't do whilst wearing another hat. I guess it kind of breaks the immersion for me. I think I like the older style ones better where there are less gear options, but still options that are quite meaningful or interesting, but that you need to work for too.
I didn't hate Odyssey. There are things I liked about it and other things I didn't like. But for me, the combat and enemies being damage sponges made the game feel more like an open world version of Tekken to me, when I would prefer my AC game to be closer to Hitman.

@@brianmooreshead I can get behind that statement 100% and I feel that's why the RPG AC games get so much hate it's because of these mechanics. Like if it were any other name in the title people wouldn't mind as much but the fact that this franchise has a history of being. Certain way and out of the blue they just flipped it on every 1 I understand the disappointment. This actually my 1st AC game I'm planning to go back and play the ezio trilogy

I actually enjoyed Odyssey and Valhalla the only thing i dont like in Odyssey is the way the leveling system works because i just want to play the story but i have to grind the whole map in order to play it

Odyssey is only SP game that can have me hooked on it for thousands of hours. I never saw SP game with open world with so much content to do plus even if u get into empty area on map there is mercenaries coming for you ( they been like bosses on map with variety of them).

You have a weapon to take higher enemies out. Odyssey is my favorite AC game from all the AC games. AC Valhalla is boring and not what I thought of it. Kassandra is way better to play with than Alexios, because she's more connected to the common people. She isn't acting like the best, like in a lot of AC game characters. And as a woman, I love that I can play as a woman because all the other AC games only gave me the male option and I hated that.

I like odyssey it was the first assasins creed game I've played im now playing ac3 and Connor is cool as hell but when it comes to like story I'd say ac3 is better with having more templars and more assasins as it kinda connect with some previous games while the most ammount of Templar you will get from odyssey would be from the legacy of the hidden blade dlc with the order of the ancients but otherwise the rest is just looking for artifacts and reuniting your family but odyssey is still a game I loved playing to all the massive cities the beauty of its scenery and personally I like the combat

Odyssey is an incredible ancient Greek Warrior fantasy Simulator as Origins was a great ancient Egyptian Assassin fantasy experience and Valhalla a fine Viking fantasy game but they're all terrrrrrible horrrrrrrible awwwwwwful AC games. Take them for what they are and you have a great time.(Except Valhalla I'm sorry not really but that game was absolute left over dog water)
