I love those style fenders. Ive seen guys trash their stainless full fenders by accident by just being in a rush being a super trucker. If you're working it might as well always have those instead. Id never have stainless fenders
i think he has mentioned it before your right they dont make the 388 any more, but they are making it as a 389 and having it as a 12" front hood extension or an 6" hood extension. I'm sure steve would be able to tell you about it more so,
There were always short and long hood 359s of course, and then when they went to the 379 they made a long hood and short hood as well as the 378. When the 389 took over they made long and short and also made a 388. Now the 388 is gone and there's just the long and short 389.
Did not know about them having a dummy stack, neat lil fun fact for the day. Also, idk about you but im not a fan on Jost. They are a bugger at times and get hogged up when it rains/snows. I know older fellers complain how they struggle cause they dont have the strength to lift it up and pull.
disc are standard on front and drum is standard on rear. Price is about 1700 to upgrade, in rough muddy rocky sandy conditions disc are not always the best choice
Would you be able to get one of these with different fenders more clearance lights and no horns on the roof? Maybe a tad bigger wheel base and 46,000 lbs rears?
why have that much power when ur suspension is rated for 12/40. In canada we can pull very heavy loads and axles are usually spec'd for 20/46 with that much power.
Peterbilt Steve looking maybe to buy in coming months but would need to order and was wondering if it’s a big charge to paint to order. White red roof red fenders and red frame. Truck will be a transfer
Why even include it if it isn't piped in? Just extra lbs. to carry. What is the longevity of a single exhaust behind that X-15? I would think it would burn out pretty quick. Dam emissions garbage any!
I'd love to have that for lowboy tractor, but I don't need one that extreme. ...lol. Plus don't want to get wrapped up in electronic log book. Sure is nice truck!
Fake Pete Steve. Looks like something Volvo would do, put a bit of fakery on just for looks. Is that fake exhaust plastic? If you go back to March 6. 2017 --"2018 Peterbilt 389 Day Cab Dual Lockers Full Gauges 230" X15 Cummins",,, that 2018 day cab has a Y pipe and functioning dual exhausts. Me thinks you forgot to spec a working twin exhaust, Or you hit the wrong key , so, the factory sent out the fake one... Tell me I am wrong!
No, I didn't know! So, Long hood you get the Y pipe and a working exhaust, short hood you get el fakeo Volvo trick... You give out more info on your videos of the new Pete's and options avail. than anyone. Thank you for answering my questions and for the exhaust heads up Steve :). I'm still waiting for $7 corn to make a deal on that red one you posted back in March of last year. th-cam.com/video/WLdplKpza7E/w-d-xo.html
when we seen that our day cab had a dummy exhaust we just had the dealer yank it off. saving a bit of weight is ideal on local jobs.
I put them on for looks, single stacks look silly to me and the guys really wanting to save weight either run horizontal exhaust or dont run 389s
This is what the company I work for needs. We have almost all Petes but they are lacking in power, when climbing those hills it's pretty sad :(
Won't have to worry about replacing burnt out elbows and tips on driver side, Lol saving a few dollars
yep
wow, totally surprised to see the dummy pipe, ive got true duels on my 2012 and it has a wet kit..
Yeah, me too. Even more suprised Steve put it in a sales presentation video, as it is a big negative for most Pete fans.
No reason to lie about it
Steve, any idea when you'll be doing the "How to" order a truck vid.? I have a million questions and that vid. might answer half of them. LOL.
I know I keep saying soon but its really happening soon
Where are the wood dashes? I like your trucks have full gauge package
I love those style fenders. Ive seen guys trash their stainless full fenders by accident by just being in a rush being a super trucker. If you're working it might as well always have those instead. Id never have stainless fenders
They are error friendly....
Steve you need a dead cat wind sock for you mic ....great videos as allways!
I dont use a mic, maybe I should....
What's the BBC length on that truck? Looks like a short hood (388), which I thought they didn't make anymore.
i think he has mentioned it before your right they dont make the 388 any more, but they are making it as a 389 and having it as a 12" front hood extension or an 6" hood extension. I'm sure steve would be able to tell you about it more so,
Anthony is correct 389 comes in long and short hood versions.
There were always short and long hood 359s of course, and then when they went to the 379 they made a long hood and short hood as well as the 378. When the 389 took over they made long and short and also made a 388. Now the 388 is gone and there's just the long and short 389.
Gotcha. I thought for the first few years the 388 was strictly a short hood and the 389 was strictly a long hood. Now it makes sense.
Perfect log truck!
yes it is!!
Hey Steve, why don’t you or your customers ever order a 605 X15? Is the cost not worth the little extra power. Just curious
Do a lot of your trucks have dummy pipes? Is that the way they all are now?
nice truck so its a single muffler have a good day
thanks
Will be hitting you up in 12 months time would something like this work for hauling fuel
Did not know about them having a dummy stack, neat lil fun fact for the day. Also, idk about you but im not a fan on Jost. They are a bugger at times and get hogged up when it rains/snows. I know older fellers complain how they struggle cause they dont have the strength to lift it up and pull.

Is there a big $ difference between disc & drum brakes? Or is there other reasons folks run discs upfront and drums out back?
Thanks
disc are standard on front and drum is standard on rear. Price is about 1700 to upgrade, in rough muddy rocky sandy conditions disc are not always the best choice

Do all 389 day cabs sit so high on frame? Or can you get the cab more like a 379 configuration?
they sit higher because of the emissions
Peterbilt Steve looking maybe to buy in coming months but would need to order and was wondering if it’s a big charge to paint to order. White red roof red fenders and red frame. Truck will be a transfer

The new KW T-880 does the same thing.
Javan Russell agreed
Why even include it if it isn't piped in? Just extra lbs. to carry.

Beautiful truck, but dummy stack is waste of time and money. Just my opinion. You sure show off some nice rides!

I'd love to have that for lowboy tractor, but I don't need one that extreme. ...lol. Plus don't want to get wrapped up in electronic log book. Sure is nice truck!
